saintsrow
This is just a simple question which will have a known, objective answer by the time E3 Expo comes around in 11-13 June 2013. The Figueroa is a few blocks from the LA Convention Center, so E3 attendees and the press will see it. What do you think? Max Payne 3 was the featured game on the Figueroa Hotel in 2012. œaœa
Yeah I think it will. I see it as Rockstar's way of "crashing the party". It's perfect too; 3 walls for 3 protags.
CracklyRabbit
3 walls for 3 protags. I can really imagine this happening Although this could happen closer to release rather than E3

Cutter De Blanc
I don't think so. It seems like their marketing dept has their heads firmly planted up their asses. Maybe they'll post something on their newswire about "more info coming soon."
saintsrow
3 walls for 3 protags. I can really imagine this happening Although this could happen closer to release rather than E3 I was actually thinking just today about E3 being too soon for GTAV advertising murals, and then BAM! what do those guys do? They start a mural.
Jamie Smith
Yea Probably And hopefully in-game too maybe GTA V Boxart or even the upcoming R* Game AGENT.
Johan
I would imagine so, it's the perfect time to place that and get all the attention like every year.

They start a mural. Yeah, I would argue that R* is going to be a lot more active this year than many of us were expecting. That's not to say that they'll go crazy or anything. R* does of course have a habit of doing short bursts separated by long periods of silence. They've just started a lot earlier than I expected. At this point, I wouldn't rule this out. Shadowfox_
I vote yes mainly because of marketing. To be quite honest, nothing tops E3 and if they miss the chance to show off Gta 5 then their marketing value goes down fast.
Mr Shade
When E3 comes around it'll be three months until launch, so it'll be around the time that they will start more marketing. I'd be willing to bet money that we'll be seeing something GTA V related on there.
saintsrow
Now that it looks like GTAV marketing has actually started, I'm still wondering if Rockstar is going to put up the GTAV mural at the time of E3. Before all this new 2 May 2013 info, I was thinking that Rockstar was still going to lay low and pass on the Figueroa Hotel opportunity until closer to GTAV release, but now...maybe they are ready to hit it hard. And I thought I would bump this poll for anyone who has an opinion or has not voted yet.
Buffalo Soldier
Maybe - but the thing is, MP3 needed the hype and promotion. No one really cared about Max Payne. Grand Theft Auto however has the biggest fanbase of any gaming franchise - so they don't really need to go all out on it.
rdfdsv
Looking at the way that building is composed, it would be a crime if they didn't place an ad there lol. 3 walls for 3 protagonists, it's perfect. Perfect marketing.

I agree with that concept, but I am starting to think now that Rockstar is going to go full force with GTAV marketing, such that we will see GTAV in every medium including all mainstream venues, and the world will be unable to avoid being aware of GTAV. Given what Rockstar has invested in this game and the potential return, which dwarfs all but the biggest blockbuster movies, it may be worth it, and just good business, to do a total publicity blitz. Skyrim was painted on the Figueroa at the time of E3 2011, and it was already heavily anticipated, so maybe the same thing will happen with GTAV. Loves GTA
It should. Would work out perfectly given the game has 3 protagonists.
AllThatJuice
They definitely should. If R* follow their tradition of not appearing at E3 then should have Michael, Franklin and Trever on those buildings

It's not worth it to them. They don't even need to attent the event. The game ITSELF will attract a lot of attention because GTA is too popular and their marketing strategy will not be affected at all.
Distrom
The did It for MP3, they also did it for GTA IV, they should do it for GTA V, Michael in the middle, Trevor on the left and Franklin on the right.
Rockstar Cake
I can definitely see it being on the hotel, but I'd be willing to bet money Rockstar won't be at E3. I definitely think it would be Rockstar's style to try and outshine the new Xbox reveal and all that this year (which they will, because come on, I'd honestly rather have a new GTA in my hand than a new console), and it would be a great opportunity to showcase some new protags artwork and get some more marketing going. I guess we'll know when we get there!

I think they are doing fine and starting early compared to many developers. Can you show me what I am missing? I may be overlooking things, and you seem to know about marketing? Back in March 2013 when he wrote that, it still looked like Rockstar marketing had dug a hole in the ground, crawled in, pulled the dirt in over them, and settled in for a long winter's freeze. That's what I mostly thought, as well. But everything is different now, since the info dumps on 30 April 2013 and 2 May 2013. The world is a different place. A better place. Input
I think they should. It would look really cool if they put up the 3 protags with the new art of them that came with their corresponding trailers.
Grand Theft Auto TOM
It should. Would work out perfectly given the game has 3 protagonists. Agree. Three buildings, three protagonists. That's just perfect! Would be great marketing as well, however I'm already sure GTA V will outsell every other game this year.
Maggot899
I think that they will as GTA is their main bread and butter, so they will market this game as much as they can. Rockstar releases amazing games, but GTA is what they are known for the most. I know that when they get closer to release they will step on their marketing quite a bit. Also - I've never played Max Payne 3 (I have it, just haven't played it yet), but whoever that chick on the right is, is f*cking hot. Damn. Yes, so the tough decision that Rockstar has to make now, is whether to put all 3 protags on the 3 panels, or to reserve 1 panel for the GTA girl, which is traditional. A tough call ..... saintsrow
Well, with the new news that TTWO is actually acknowledging the existence of GTAV at E3, I am wondering if it is now unlikely that Rockstar will commission the triptych mural ad on the Figueroa Hotel as a way to make an outsider statement regarding GTAV during E3. Seems like they don't need to do so,, now. If Rockstar does intend to put the mural, it seems like they would need to start very soon. That's a big job. Any thoughts in this new context?
