I wouldn't mind a ticketing system similar to Mafia. Honestly wouldn't be hard. And it's easier to escape cops in GTA than in Mafia (original; Mafia II was a hack job compared to the original). At least it has since the IV system was introduced.

Also the way police finds you. In IV, if you were in the circle they would always find you, even if you went around 5 random corners without the police seeing it, they would still find you.

That depended on FOV, Field of Vision. Foot patrollers, helicopters, patrol cars. If ANY of these saw you for a second, they called it in. That's why it was good to use alleys and change cars.

Not initial poster, but I'll defend the topic. There's no directly recent threads on this topic, and some people still wanna talk about it. Nothing wrong with that. There's duplicates of plenty of topics.

Do I really have to explain why this would suck again? It would result in near constant wanted stars for anyone who doesn't want to spend 90 f*cking percent of their playtime sitting around in f*cking traffic! Nobody plays GTA to sit in traffic and even if they do I'm pretty sure they still wouldn't want these asinine bullsh*t traffic laws around for the people who don't sit in traffic.

Here's my two cents on how police should operate. You'll have heard most of these before. Hopefully there will be some fresh ideas.

- Cops absolutely should be able to restrain and arrest you. It was impossible to engage in hand-to-hand combat in GTA IV. In real life

police do not shoot on sight. It really limits foot chases.

- Improved on-foot mobility - police should be able to climb walls and fences. (Watch Dogs looks like it will do this well)

- No wanted level for being nudged by a police car. If you do crash they shouldn't come after you. You should have the option of paying a

fine first.

- SWAT should operate more tactically in the way they engage you. Standing off to create a show-down rather than charging in.

- stingers should return but only be employed rarely.

- smaller road blocks. One Car parked horizontally, one cop with a loud-speaker, another with a shot-gun.

- police should line roof-tops (like in the bank robbery mission with Catalina in San Andreas)

- Cop Cars should not shoot in built up areas - they would never risk civilian life.

- On the whole I feel they should be geared towards arrest not kills. Therefore we'd get more tense, more dramatic shoot-outs rather than the run-and-gun or lemmings type situations we're used to. Run in to a built up area? Police evacuate it. Set up road blocks or a cordon. Remember the movie Phone Booth? Something like that!

- response times should be much much longer in the rural areas and in the early morning hours

- if there are no witnesses there is no crime (yet)

- if there are witnesses who hear the shots but don't see you then the police turn up but you gotta stop acting suspiciously and get out of there or you engage them before they see you

- No COuntry For Old MEn and The Killers Inside Me can teach Rockstar a lot about how rural police forces operate

See? This, this is what they should do right here. This.

Not that f*cking traffic law crap everyone else seems so damn interested in.

Yeah this is too far, and would be annoying after the first few occurences. And this is coming from a guy that would welcome a hardcore mode with realistic settings.

ChocoFrosty

There are certain things that should be realistic and other things that should not. Getting a wanted level for speeding or running a red light is not one of them. That only slows gameplay down ruins the flow of fun.

What if the cops arrested you and put you in prison and then you weren't able to play the game for 3 months until your character got out of jail?

Do you want to only be allowed to carry a realistic number of weapons and ammo?

There's a fine line between realism and fun. R* is very good at not being overly realistic, but also not stupidly unreal either.

Would be cool if you only got stars if you ran away from the police... if you actually stopped and payed the fine, the police would just let you go

The witnesses thing you mentioned has already been implemented in RDR

So one of the things in that list is guaranteed to be in the game. Lets hope all the other ones are too.

Again punishing those who don't follow traffic laws by forcing them to spend 90% of the game sitting on their ass waiting for a ticket writing animation to complete. Also said victims would never be able to buy anything because of ticket expenses. Are we done with this stupid idea?

No they won't. Rockstar would never add that. They had a perfect chance in IV but they avoided it because they knew that sh*t like that messes up the game.
