grandthefthoughto
sorry if this has been previously discussed: trevor and franklins motivations to be involved in a "series of heists" seem pretty obvious, both are trying to move up from their present circumstances (franklin getting out of the ghetto and "small-time" crime, trevor seemingly trying to take control of the "alamo sea" drug business). but what is michaels motivation (other than the witness protection, bad marriage and spoilt kids), he seems to have "made it," so what do we think is the predominant force that pulls him back into the life of crime and ultimately the large-scale heists we are expecting? plain old greed? to repay a debt/cure his guilt towards his old friend trevor (who he may have possibly previously betrayed?) to afford him enough cash to escape witness protection? to ensure he is still comfortable after a possible divorce? mission tasking/black mail from the FIB? or simply because he misses the rush? grandthefthoughto
Michael is not in the ghetto my son. but possibly trying to shake off his gang affiliation so the term of "getting out of the ghetto" still seems appropriate to me. saintsrow
I'm so confused. I thought Michael wanted to get back into the game so that he could afford to buy Trevor a clean shirt ....
GroundZero
I thought we all know that, since Michael's wife is spending all his cash, he starts running short of it and he is forced to get back into the game...

InternetKillTV
" (other than the witness protection, bad marriage and spoilt kids), " Those ARE his only motivations.. We were told in the GameInformer magazine that his wife and kids have spent almost all his money and that he needs to get back into the game to carry on living the good life. That is correct, this reminds me of Breaking Bad for some reason and I love it..
GTA-King
To provide for his family during the economic crisis, then later in the game he will only do it for the adrenaline rush & to feed his ego... thus endangering his family. You heard it here first, folks!
grandthefthoughto
i suppose i had read the stuff about michael going back because of his wifes spending and to provide for his family but a mission where he rappels down an (FIB/IAA?) building to rescue/kidnap a guy while an accomplice snipes from a nearby building (the mission demoed to GI among others) just feels a bit "bigger" than a guy trying to provide for his family to me (high life or not). Yes, there's clearly something larger at play here that they're not telling us.
