kudoboi
Transistor invites players to wield an extraordinary weapon of unknown origin as they explore a stunning futuristic city. We’re designing our next game to seamlessly integrate thoughtful strategic planning into a fast-paced action experience, complete with our studio’s signature melding of responsive gameplay and rich atmospheric storytelling. All of us from the Bastion development team are working together again on this new project, with the aid of a handful of talented new people who’ve joined us since Bastion’s launch. In Transistor, players assume the role of a young woman who gains control of a powerful weapon after a mysterious group of assailants nearly kills her with it. Now she must fight from street to street against forces that will stop at nothing to recover the weapon. During the course of the adventure, players will piece together the Transistor’s mysteries as they pursue its former owners. We expect Transistor to be released in early 2014. We have not yet decided on which platform or platforms the game will be available for.

69_black_69
Seriously, is there nobody playing this game? A hundred pages of watch_dogs post, but no post about Transistor? Well, anything open-world is totally gonna get GTA fans attention, so i should expected that here. No love for indie game here..... Anyway, this game is absolutely fantastic, and y'all need to start playing it. Pros: - Stunning Art - Amazing Soundtrack - f*cking awesome gameplay - Beautifully crafted story Cons: - Short (6-10 hours long) So let me review this game... The story is great, bit confusing at some parts because of it's subtlety. First time playing, you'll be greeted with a screen of the protagonist, Red, mourn over his friend dead body, stabbed with a weapon called Transistor. Then the weapon talk, you pulled it and after that you jump straight into the gameplay. There's no opening narration or anything to explain a bit about what the hell happened. The only things that could explain about the story is the dialog, a computer terminal that could easily be missed, and a profile section that was obtainable through playing with certain combination of the weapon function. So the story not thrown by the writer on your face, but instead letting the player put together of the story pieces by pieces to know exactly what was going on. I really loved it, and the ending is awesome. Though i wanted it to have an alternate endings like Bastion. The gameplay is what i really liked the most. I'm a big fan of hack and slash, but not so much of strategy-like gameplay, but Transistor changed that. The first time i watched the gameplay video posted above, i'm not exactly into it. Red stab her weapon to the grund over and over, with some kind of planning system, and no hack and slashing my way like Bastion?? I almost passed on this game because of that, but seeing how Bastion changed my way on gaming, i still trusted Supergiant Games. And now i've played it, and it was fantastic. Turned out the gameplay is a lot more complex, and you could use your attack in real-time too, but of course, much more fun in planning system. So as you progressed through out the game, you'll unlocked more weapon function. Each weapon function could be used as an active function, an upgrade, or a passive function. And playing with each weapon function combination, you'll get a different kind of effect of your attack. So every different kind of combination, will change the feel of the combat. And for my favorite combination is this: Load(cull()+ purge()) = Create a packet that explode + with more damage and sent enemies upward + with a damage over time Void(spark()+ ping()) = Cripple enemy defense + stacked multiple instance + reduce cost turn Get(breach()) = Damage and get enemy close to you + with a much more range Crash() = Basic attack So, using void 2 times on enemy to weaken them, and use Get to get them close, Load up a powerful packet, and blow that sh*t up. Or use Switch() as Load upgrade, so that after you blow it, the enemies affected will be your allies, and got yourself a time to recover safely until they turned against you, and then use the combination again. And about the Art and the Music, just like Bastion, Supergiant Games nailed it. It was getting a lot of praise, so it should be enough to convince you. There's no other games i've played having this kind of awesome art + music that goes super well with the gameplay and story. I've just finished it and it is definitely my game of the year pick. I really loved it so much, and cant recommended it enough. Just go buy and play this, if you don't mind over the cons. It is short, yeah, but it's definitely worth the price. There's also Recursion mode, basically a NG+ and some added feature to keep things interesting.
