Crazyman2389
Do you think it would be cool to see a modern day version of Blackwater in GTA V? Or perhaps a small ghost town of Armadillo somewhere in a desert area? Wouldn't that be something to just stumble upon your travels? I know it's obviously not going to happen but I'd like to see your thoughts on this!
evilrex
No, because it would be a massive continuity error.

Pyrrhic
Blackwater as in the mercenary group?? Or from RDR Judging by the "ghost town" and "Armadillo" and "desert area" I think the answer is fairly obvious.

Tpleezy
It's cool no reason to be sorry I just wasn't clear enough in my explanation. Though I do recommend you try RDR There are few 'ghost town" early 19's style but way too far from LA and not even in Cali. So I think its probably not gonna happen. JaggySnake
No. Redemption was based on Texas/Mexico over 100 years ago. GTA V is based modern day Southern California.
ExtremoMania
No, Blackwater only belongs in the Red Dead universe and is set in the Industrial Revolution and Cowboy Era whilst GTA V is set in the modern period.

mulder84
The Red Dead series is a totally separate entity and has no connections to the GTA series. Like the connection between Manhunt and GTA series? They did mention Carcer City in GTA before, all of Rockstar's games have interconnected locations (save for Max Payne and LA Noire, they use real locations). As for appearance it would be highly unlikely, since GTA V is set in SoCal and RDR is much closer to the central US-Mexican border. I would like to hear mentions of Blackwater or RDR locations on the radio though, like an easter egg.
Miss Darko
^ That doesn't quite fit, because Manhunt and GTA are actually set in the same universe, this is a fact. But RDR has mentions of real life locations that are not in GTA. For instance, Manhattan (which is Algonquin in this generation). Or California (which is San Andreas in GTA: SA and GTA V). RDR is clearly not set in the real world either, as it's set in a fictional state based on Texas and nearby areas, but it's not set in GTA's world, either. If Red Dead Redemption were to be in the same universe as GTA like manhunt was, Bonnie McFarlane would've said "Liberty City" instead of "New York City". Im going to try and make time for it this summer Yes exactly - it really builds on what was introduced in GTA IV and is a better game imo. Plus it will give a good indication of what to expect in GTA V. I disagree with some of what said here though - Rockstar doesn't have to use Armadillo exactly, but I think its fairly likely they'll have some form of abandoned ghost town from the Wild West as a nod to RDR. It would be a nice easter egg. Remember how the studios in VC had the texture of Bedford Point from III's Staunton Island in it? A similar thing to this. Yes,no problem with that.Like How GTA IV got a ship wreck that looked like a ship destroyed in GTA III,s no harm if in desert is some abandoned city that resembles Armadillo,or some other smaller easter egg of RDR. kesta195
Like others have said, it couldn't happen as they don't share the same continuity. I don't see why R* couldn't just have all their games in one universe.
Patrizio
Hang on - I agree kesta - but if they have say a ghost town that resembles Armadillo to a tee, they can still do it. Its just an easter egg. It doesn't necessarily have to say "Armadillo" as you enter it. But Blackwater? No. Can't see that happening. Blackwater was used as the modern, industrialized antithesis the old west, that is all. How come you haven't played it? I was never a fan of Western movies but RDR ended up being my 'Game of This Generation', well until GTA V is released anyway. Unless you game exclusively on PC, I strongly urge you to buy RDR GOTY edition. As others have said, RDR & GTA are set in different universes. However the house that Trevor sets fire to in the second trailer does look very similar to the MacFarlane ranch house. I wouldn't mind seeing a small town that looks similar to Blackwater. As long as there is a re-imagined So Cal desert and Rockstar has to fill it up with some interesting stuff, a re-imagined ghost town Armadillo with a different (but obviously referential) signpost for the town name would be a great easter egg. It seems like Rockstar does not create such obvious or elaborate easter eggs, but I wish they would. Another thing I hope is that Los Santos is bigger than Blackwater. I shouldn't even laugh - there'd be hell on in here if that happened. Thankfully it won't. Yeah I wish they would do more elaborate Easter eggs. I remember when IV came out and everybody thought that: - the abandoned mansion on Alderney was Salvatore's house from III - there was a house identical to Tony Soprano's. Neither featured and I think Rockstar missed a treat here.

That's a really good, yet disappointing point if it means they're set in different universes. I thought it would've been cool to see a cameo from John Marston's grandson or great grandson. Maybe an old man sitting in a deserted town telling us about how he had to leave his life in the old west or something.

Yeah, I'm all for an easter egg or a reference, but if there is one I think it will be along the lines of people discussing a nameless outlaw turned slave for the government that fits John's description, but never mentioning his name so it could be anyone but it would still clearly be a RDR nod. A ghost town resembling Tumbleweed or Armadillo is also possible.

But, what if there could be a reference to a current (in GTAV) western movie that is "based on a true story" and there is a radio commercial for it, or even a trailer on the GTAV in-game TV? Still sounds like a stretch to me, however.
