Travís.
I don't understand the complete different eras. I mean 2 different liberty cities and two different san andreas? I think this is so annoying, especially since theres no returning characters when it's the same city. Can't R* come up with anything new? there's a whole world they can base there game on, but instead they recreate the same city and act like the previous characters don't exist at all. Please enlighten me on why this is happening, because quite frankly I don't want to get dissapointed by GTA V because it's the same city but has very few similarities. theNGclan
Rockstar is using the era system to specify universes. For example, in our world there might be alternate universe that is completely different than ours. It's not hard to understand. On the note of no returning characters: Quit complaining. SeaFoam
I think it's more so the fact that they wanted a proper version of these cities. Do them some justice. My opinion of course.

Very True, I just don't like the fact that they completly forget everything that's previously happened in the city. Claude was the biggest bad ass and would have gotten so many wanted stars. And gta IV just forgot about him. and now gta V will forget all about CJ or GFS's and everything that went down.
SeaFoam
I see what you're saying, but at least they don't completely write them off. For example, you can still find graffiti / artwork of all of our favorites from past GTA's all around GTA IV.

The Pizza Delivery Guy
It's an excuse that people around here use because they never want III era characters to return. Even now that "GTA V is it's new era, number V" and Rockstar I believe stated that some characters from IV are returning, it's now the "HD era." Basically they want nothing to do with CJ, Phil Cassidy, or Donald Love ever again.

Ash_735
It's sad to see "GTA fans" ask this question, you can tell who only joined party when GTA got popular with GTA3! There's actually THREE Liberty City's, TWO San Andreas as States, ONE San Andreas as a City, and TWO Vice City's.
xMohawkkinGx
Do you have suggestions for cities? I mean really, they're doing this because of the technological advances. Most likely GTA VI and so on will continue in this universe.

But you're using your Opinion to try and understand facts, that doesn't work, that's like me saying I don't count Vice City because it's set in the 1980's! As much as you do or don't want to, Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas as a city existed in the 2D Era via GTA1. You can't just ignore that for the bullsh*t reason you gave. saintsrow
Give them time. Give them Time? It takes them 5 years to make one game! That's why we need to give them time. It's not so much the game design technology or console memory or computing power, it's just the raw amount of time it takes to create large, unique, non-repetitive HD virtual world designs. Seriously, Rockstar is going to have to outsource the design of the huge HD environments in GTA 6 in the next gen console era, in order to get one game out in less than 10 years!
