The Killa
Yes. I don't think I made it clear enough. Though it's arguable that DLC's are well-received by the community. Personally I take no issue with DLC's that are done properly, ie EFLC or Skyrim's. Day 1 DLC and selling cosmetics / cheat codes is the problem I have, though unfortunately all of the above fall into the "DLC" category.
S5L3T0
Man tears is when you cry from eating hot hot food f*cking idiots Also I read on GameFAQs from a post at HUFF POST that he did quit cause of the Sim City crisis. True or false?>.< Dude you need to get your facts together before posting, it's been a bad day for you. The timing of this really makes me wonder...who's next? lol
Audiophile
Have mixed feels about this. Glad he is gone and yet disappointed because I know either 1) nothing will change or 2) it will get worse. Sucks because EA used to make some of my favourite games. Now they just ruin them. Trund
The unpopularity of DLC I don't think DLC's are too unpopular. The larger scale ones, that is, such as EFLC and usually Assassin's Creed DLC's. I think the only times content shouldn't be DLCs is when it's an integral part of the story. It would be criminal to charge extra for the full story. Extra content for extra charge I'm fine with. But yeah always-on and micro-transactions are bullsh*t. EFLC is in an entirely different league than EA's DLC, mostly due in part it being day 1 DLC, or cutting content for a selling profit later on. Everyone hates on EA at the moment, while other developers will just end up doing the same thing. I have this funny feeling that even R* will start a ridiculous DLC behavior with GTA V. I can see them offering little things as DLC after a while, simply because it's such a great way for them to make money.
Toke
I have this funny feeling that even R* will start a ridiculous DLC behavior with GTA V. I can see them offering little things as DLC after a while, simply because it's such a great way for them to make money. Indeed. Everyone loves to rage at these developers for doing something that's making them money. As much as we are the consumer and we bring in hefty profits for these guys in the end its likely one in twenty that actually cares for what the fans want or think. I think in the end we have only ourselves and other gamers to blame, we're the ones who've shown these companies through market research and actual experience that we WILL still pay for their games regardless of Online only features, dlc or what have you. Look at Call of Duty, sure its droll, sure its copy/paste but I'll be damned if it out sells pretty much any competition it might have at the time so why not continue along that route? Money, money money. To those who matter its far more important that what we gamers want.
The__Phoenix
f*ck yes! This day is already awesome! Is it? I wouldn´t say that. It could be even worse. Frank Gibeau is leading internal candidates to take over. And it´s not a good thing for you. We are very proud of the way EA evolved with consumers,” “I have not green lit one game to be developed as a single player experience. Today, all of our games include online applications and digital services that make them live 24/7/365.” Forbes: EA Turns Its Back On Single-Player Games, Embraces The Cloud So, what´s next for EA? Cold tremors.
mrpain
John Riccitiello is the best EA release of the year. But don't expect the sequel to be any different. It's too late to go back to their roots now for them.

To answer your earlier post, I was referring to the microtransactions video. Regarding DLC, one of the big gaming mags did a survey. It was more for fun than gathering hard facts but most people were found to be felt ripped-off when it came to DLC. It's like people feel they need this thing and when they get it, it doesn't change much. Personally, I'm not a fan of DLC. I like the idea of DLC but I've never bought a DLC that felt completely justified. Hopefully EA will change their practices now. Exkabewbikadid
With EA, it'll probably just be sh*tass punkass out, punkass sh*tass in. As the saying goes, vote with your wallet. The only thing that will get through to developers' and publishers' thick, corporate skulls is when you start f*cking with their money flow. I simply refuse to buy DLC that doesn't offer something substantial to the core game, such as TLAD/TBOGT to IV. To hell with buying dorky little outfits and other bullsh*t that adds nothing worth my time. And microtransactions? Go f*ck yourselves. If I wanted to get charged repeatedly, I'd buy an arcade machine and charge myself. The only reason I've played more games in the last 2 years than I did in the 10 years before that is because services like Steam have made it incredibly accessible and cheap to do so. As soon as Valve gets on board with f*cking people over and discounting older games by far less than what they have in past sales, then f*ck it, I'm out. I'd like to believe Gabe Newell & Co. are smart enough business people to know that offering value to customers will earn far greater money in the long term vs. making a sh*tload by ass raping customers in the short term until they eventually wise up and go elsewhere, but there's no telling. /rant
JOSEPH X
This is what happens when publishers try to scam people who are searching for value for money. I honestly believe they think we're a bunch of dudebro morons with one brain cell between us. I'm hoping Peter Moore gets the job because that's one gobsh*te who will bring EA down in flames. I mean where are they going with these business models? Pay 2 pay?
acmilano
Like others said, just attempt of the company to save their public face that is under constant attack. Mr Riccitello will be better CEO of some bank.It s question what would happen with the company, would they continue to irritate customers with shady scams or (doubtfully) change their tactics. With this policy EA will end up like THQ.Other companies also trying all the irritating things like microtransactions etc,but it is to us customers to vote with our money and not buying useless crap.Industry is there for us, not we for them. Gtaghost22
Just going to be replaced by some other fat-cat who does the exact same thing, changes of head on these big companies rarely change much, Sad but most likely true. I do hope you (and me) are wrong this time, though.
The Killa
I see the sentiment that they'll replace Riccitello with another middle-aged out of touch suit, and as much as I wish it weren't true, it's hard to disagree with that. Like I mentioned, I really hope they'll be able to turn it around. I hope they'll be able to f*ck off their ridiculous greedy policies and restore (any) positive image they have left. EA really do have some talented developers who are shackled by greedy idiots who know nothing about video games. Cautiously optimistic. Not expecting much though. trip
Maybe it is time I toss my hat into the ring . I'm a middle aged guy, but I don't wear a suit and I like to think I'm still in touch with gaming. I turned EA down for a job in the earlier 90s plus I just so happen to share the same first name as their founder - so I got that going for me.
