When MADD tried to bring up an issue about it R* stated that they dont glorify drunk driving, and that the game even discouraged it by having other characters suggest that you walk and giving you 2 stars when you drove. Like Whit said, as long is its objective and not glorified then I dont think there is an issue. And anyone who thinks Cocaine is that bad of a drug has never tried it. Im not advocating it, but its the only drug that doesnt inhibit you in some way. Sure it can kill you if you take too much of it, but so can Redbull. saintsrow Posted March 18, 2013 Share Posted March 18, 2013 Unless Rockstar thinks they have to create artificial controversy in order to sell GTAV, I think they will keep drugs low-key and not be an obvious part of the protag's or Michael's family's lifestyle or game element. Rockstar has subtly been again drug use, in terms of having the protags refuse drugs when the opportunity came up. Even though Rockstar is irreverent in terms of seeming to not care that their games cause offense to certain sensitive groups, they still have certain positive social values that they subtly and consistently want to promote in their games. One of those values may be drug use. I have a feeling that as a corporation or as individuals they do not want to glorify drug use or even make it seem like a valid choice for people to make. Rather, they treat it like most movies and FCC-approved TV shows, where drug use is generally a bad thing (though of course drugs are a primary motivator for dramatic crime situations). That's ironically in contrast to most movie/TV media and Rockstar doing a nudge-nudge-wink-wink about how quaint it is to get drunk on booze, and socially elegant it is to drink in high class cultural settings, or how cool it is to get frat-house falling-down-throwing-up drunk on beer. I always liked it in GTA-SA that I could walk up to the white-hoodied pushers and they would ask me if I wanted to buy, and before they could even finish the question, I would give them a shotgun blast in the face. It cant get much more interesting than how you were drunk in IV. So i dont think its gonna be a big part of the game, at least not using it yourself, maybe it plays part as selling/dealing etc. So no controversy. DAMN we need new stuff. Hallucinogens could be pretty fun, but neither meth nor weed are hallucinogens so who knows. Could just slow down time a touch and blur the screen slightly. And come on guys, coke isn't half as bad as it's made out but it most definitely is not softer than weed. The only way hallucinagens would be fun is if people responded to you differently/had dragon heads while you were using them.
