Blade3562
Well now that I finally understand a little bit about 3d modeling I thought I'd start on my list of GTA brand cars I've always wanted. Let me say these GTA models are actually pretty nice! I will be keeping them simple so they don't cause issues in game. First up on the list is what I'd like to call The Slammer. It's going to be a combination of the TowTruck, the Slamvan and the Bobcat. It will probably end up being a replacement for the Bobcat or E109. As I am just learning, I accidentally deleted one of the chassis[low] wheel squares, what would the easiest way be to replace this missing piece? I know chassis[low] is barely used, but I'd like to be thorough! Will post the truck with it's bed momentarily! Another question, How do I make the bumper an extra? Blade3562
Ok so I finally got the bed to the shape I want, now I just have to smooth it. I haven't done much with 3ds max so how do I smooth out this issue I am having? Edited March 18, 2013 by Blade3562
Blade3562
Still haven't sorted out the smoothing issue, but I put the bed on the Chassis anyways
Blade3562
Never noticed it until I imported the models together, but the Slamvan grill is actually smaller than the towtruck. To to force these to two mate haha The bumper looks great, but I need to move it to an "extra" layer as I like the shaved look!
Frank.s
Very nice, looking forward to seeing more.
monster875.
use the weld tool for the broken verts on the bottom of the rear fenders. also, show a wireframe of the rear fenders so we can have a better look at what we shall do to help u
Blade3562
use the weld tool for the broken verts on the bottom of the rear fenders. also, show a wireframe of the rear fenders so we can have a better look at what we shall do to help u That's what it was, there were a couple extra vertices I couldn't see and hadn't deleted! Ok Monster next question. How do I copy and paste from one side to the other? cloning seems to clone the entire object even if I just select the few vertices. Looks good now! XTREME0235
I wonder where you got the name 'Slammer' from? Eerily similar to my Slammer GT. http://www.gta4-mods.com/vehicles/slammer-gt-f14065
monster875.
I'd detach them, copy, mirror, flip, calculate, attach and then weld in that order btw
Blade3562
I'd detach them, copy, mirror, flip, calculate, attach and then weld in that order btw This program is so much more in depth than I ever expected. It makes a basic modeler feel like a professional lol. And the name came off the top of my head. Just doinv something I had always wanted.
Blade3562
So after many failed attempts at the Slammer using the towtruck as a base(which I'm not giving up on!) I decided to try stripping the Slamvan. I just don't think those slab sides would look right for a truck bed, opinions? My halfcut I was playing with
Blade3562
I can't seem to export from 3ds max into zmodeler and all the hierarchy names go to hell. Any suggestions?
monster875.
Do the texturing and materials in zm, not in max
Blade3562
Max automatically adds the textures. The issue comes to layer names. A .3ds file doesn't save the long names and they become shortened. Do I have to rename them all to export? When I export to a wft now it is in the right size range the layers are just screwed. monster875.
Just fix the materials in zm if it's just the names
Blade3562
Well stopped with the zm fiddling at the moment, got my one bed side finished! Looks perfect, now time to do the mirror magic!
