Chewie
I am looking for a case that will protect my phone, that looks cool and is not bulky. I drop my current phone a lot so I am looking for something that is really tough. I also want it to look cool. I don't like the otterbox cases. So far I have found this case. Case What do you guys recommend?
Stinky12
The best thing is not to drop your phone that much in the first place. Getting a case shows that you want to protect your expensive phone which is a good thing, it also shows that by getting a case, it's okay to be more careless since the case will "protect" it. Most cases that does protects are bulky. Those thin ones are just to protect from scratches and other cosmetic damages. Drop your phone too much and it's not the outside that's damaged, it's the inside, crack PCB, loose screw, etc. http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/28861/cream...-iphone-5-cases Edited March 18, 2013 by Stinky12
OverTheBelow
The iPhone 5 is pretty damn strong anyway without a case and it's really light, so you're going to be pretty unlucky if you manage to smash it. It's not like the 4S, which would smash at even the smallest of falls. I treat my Nexus 4 like sh*t now that I got it a case.
Shoumaker
Since you're looking for a case that is strong anyways why don't you try and have a look at this one. It should do the job when it comes to protecting your phone. Like Stinky12 said protective cases can be slightly bulky like this one. So I don't know if this will suit your needs. Edit: Looks like Wolf and I have suggested the same product. Otterbox cases are great, I dropped my Nokia N8 I can say over 20-25 times and nothing happened to the phone (Yes I know, I was careless back then). Now this doesn't mean you should go around dropping your iphone. But this will do it's job when it comes to protection and should give you some breathing space when it comes to keeping your phone safe. Wolf68k
Maybe slightly bulky but not so much you'd notice; Otterbox Defender http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009A17D6O I've used this on my 3GS and now 4S. Dropped my phones a number of times and even had them land screen side down on concrete and other than a few scuff marks on the hard plastic part of the case there was zero damage of any kind to the phone itself. The 4S landed on the corner from about a 4ft drop and nothing. It's not water tight by any means, so keep that in mind. There is also a belt clip which the 2 together will help protect the screen even further; mostly because you put the phone on the clip facing inward. Chewie
I'm going to look at the Otterbox Defender. I've heard of this one but I don't really like the bulkiness on the sides and the back. I also don't like huge logos. I really like the switcheasy case that I found online. I wanted to see if anyone on this forum owned and what they think of it. Finn 7 five 11
I like the one you linked, but it's only useful for scratches like stinky said. If you want to protect your phone, get a leather case that flips open and closed, it's annoying at first, but you quickly get used to it.
The Wong Asian
I also have an iPhone 5, I have many cases including the otter box, but my favorite case is the gumdrop case, its about the same size as an otter box, just a bit smaller. Although its a simple case with just the plastic front and the rubber back, I have dropped it face first from about 4 feet on to hard floor, the phone did not crack. And the rubber on the back, looks like a tire.
Chewie
I am now looking at the Belkin grip candy sheer and the Incipio OVRMLD case.
Wolf68k
If you drop your phone a lot then those cases won't help you much, more so the screen. Those cases seem more if you want something that will give you a bit of a better grip on the phone and get a color you like besides black or white. As for those cases protecting the phones from drops, maybe if you drop it on desk as you're setting it down or picking it up but drop it from any real height and I'll bet it'll be cracked at some place. If you think the Defender is too bulky then look at the http://www.amazon.com/OtterBox-Commuter-Ca.../dp/B00974L1T4/ Try doing this if you can; find a store(s) near you that sell these cases or at least ones like it but also including the OtterBox cases and see if they will let you hold the case outside of it's packaging and more so allowing you to inspect it more closely. I'm willing to bet the screen protectors on those other cases will be thinner than the OtterBox.
