DeMarko and his fellow business associates set sights on Vice City. Beginning small work on the neighborhood of Washington Beach most prominently at the "Pole Position" strip club. They started out with small racketeering work out of the strip club and caught attention of the Cubans in the area. Raymond decided to do small side-jobs for the Cubans until early 1993 when they killed DeMarko's main negotiator in a deal believing he was a traitor. Raymond got word the Haitians were readying an ambush to kill Cuban leader, Umberto Robina. Raymond and his small group of guys only then known as "The South Side Playas", helped out in the ambush which ended in the death of Robina. In late 1993, the FIB cracked down on the Haitians killing DeMarko's drug smuggling ring, which in turn devastated his business. Raymond made a cozy deal with the FIB director to keep them square at least for a while. With that deal, he was able to create the best running gang in the area he called "The DeMarko Gang". During the next five years Raymond and his gang controlled the land it was so keen of being the true "kings" of. On a brisk summer morning in 1998, Raymond gets a phone call from a unknown personal who only refers to himself as "Valtra". The unknown man warns Raymond of a rival gang from Alderney called the Di'Meo Crime Family are expanding the Vice City. The DeMarko Gang assembles to take a stand to keep control of the city. When a plane arrives at the Escobar International Airport, the DeMarko Gang is there to "welcome" their "guests". They open fire on the plane and leave fifteen family members dead, eleven of them "made" men. Don of the Di'Meo Crime Family, Tomaso Di'Meo sends his Consigliere, his cousin James Di'Meo, to Vice City to deal with this problem. As James arrives to Vice City and drives with his convoy into Washington Beach to "meet" with Raymond, gunfire and explosions rained from the rooftops and tattered the cars. James, the only one alive, comes face to face with Raymond DeMarko. James pleads for his life and Ramon agrees to let him live but to make sure Di'Meo remains away from Vice City. James returned to Tomaso only to have a gun pulled to his head and is forced out of his family's business and leaves Alderney. James contacts Raymond for his help. Raymond questions James' loyalty but eventually arrives in Francis International to deal with the problem. Ramon and James along with the DeMarko Gang and those still loyal to James that left Di'Meo to help. They strike at small racketeering sites within Liberty City and eventually make there way to Alderney. As they strike the Di'Meo headquarters, Tomaso attempts to escape in a bullet proof car but he is T-boned by a Phantom and leaves Tomaso pleading for his life as Raymond holds him at gun point with his signature Desert Eagle .50. Ramon then decides to hand over his DE .50 to James who then honorably says, "Hai tradito la tua famiglia, i tuoi alleati, e le vostre membra! Ma la cosa più importante! Mi hai tradito!" (Italian for: "You have betrayed your family, your allies, and your members! But most importantly! You betrayed me!") while shooting out both of Tomaso's knee caps and finally one to the head. The remains of the Di'Meo joined DeMarko in remorse. James joined Raymond as his second-in-command for the Liberty City front. Then, in 2003, Raymond's compound was ambushed by FIB and IAA agents to finally end the drug and racketeering sprees in Vice City, ending with the deaths of Raymond and his top advisers for the Vice City front. At Raymond's depressing funeral, his younger brother Baron DeMarko (better known as just "The Baron") over gazed upon Raymond's lifeless corpse knowing that he will take over the reigns as Boss of The DeMarko Gang. Baron the day after made a bold decision to end all operations in Vice City and move to Liberty City for better futures there. Baron appointed James as his Underboss and started claiming his own legacy in the Land of Liberty."
