I hope it happens for GTA VI

Probably not that soon, most likely further down the line. It's sort of like an ultimate goal that they may very well never reach, either for logistical or creative reasons. But at least it shows that they're not opposed to the idea and have similar dreams to the players.

GrandMaster Smith

The revolution of high definition sure does look nice, but goddamn does it take a long time to develop..

Honestly I'm' kinda stoked on the idea of a next gen Liberty City, an even grittier darker more densely populated New York replica would be awesome.. but not alone, it would need a sunny bright LV/LA to contrast it. All cities would be nice but a little over the top imo. It would take alot of story to fill everything up.

2-3 citieswould be perfect,a ll 5 would be epic but maybe too much for a singleplayer/16max online.. unless we're talking mmo I'm not sure how well it'd work.

Or Liberty City and Vice City. Especially since they're much, much closer to each other.

For the most part, though, I see R* remaining pretty region-locked for the foreseeable future of GTA. They can expand their horizons or change the perspective to give it a fresh take for each one, for instance giving Vice City a new time period and feel, while including surrounding areas/nearby cities that have not yet been in GTA, much like how Los Santos in GTA V has a completely different vibe from the Los Santos in GTA: SA, and the map includes renditions of different nearby locations than we saw in SA.

Or, dare I say it, a completely new location entirely.

Rock Howard

Imagine how UNBELIEVABLY MASSIVE a game would have to be to be able to, say have Vice City, Liberty City and San Andreas included and be able to travel between them? mercie_blink.gif

It would be easy to put out a DLC for GTAV (present gen consoles) where you can take commercial jet flights between Los Santos and Liberty City. There would be no intervening land and no need for a big map, just a cutscene in the jet (and maybe outside the jet, like the switching cinematic camera view when taking the subway). And the cutscene covers the loading time. It's clearly what they have in mind. I can't wait!

The Benz:  "Of course at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas, and in that context reimagining Vice City would be very interesting,"

2018? In 2018 you might get the next instalment of GTA in ANother city. Then 4-5 years after that another city in another game and 4-5 years after that the final known city. Only then would they be able to join them together. That's what? 15-20 years?

Unless they just go all out and make all three remaining cities and join them together in the very next game. Goodness knows how long the development would take for that one. But I doubt they'd be able to do it by 2018.

It's a long term goal for Rockstar, much like a life goal, something they cannot expect to achieve within a few years, or even completely at all. But it's something I like to see happen someday, perhaps a bit like NFS: The Run style, highways connecting from San Fierro and Los Santos all the way to a reimagined Chicago and to Liberty City, with little towns and cities along the way, as well as Vice City and Las Venturas. Who knows, maybe in time and a big help from cloud computing could make it happen sigh.gif

I think maybe in the end of the nex gen consoles. Great do fly from Liberty City to Vice City and next to San Andreas smile.gif Its gonna be a huge project.

Maybe GTA 6 ? In year 2018/2020 biggrin.gif

But, why not ? I think the hardware of next gen consoles are not bad.

That's a possibility I guess. I'm wondering if they'd redo the cities or use the cities they have already from GTAIV and GTAV. Really I'm hoping they do something different next, out of America, but I can't see it happening.

This was actually about the next gen GTA VI. Rockstar have already commented somewhere that they COULD bring all the worlds together for a better experience, but we are not there yet.

That's one good map. One question, why the Nazi flag next to Ross County?

OT: I think it would be epic to have all the current GTA locations and new ones in one big map, but sadly I don't see it anytime in the next few years or so.

Old news, but still awesome. What's a trip is this game may not be as far off as we think. What I mean is, you'd think R* would wait to recreate all the old cities in HD and then eventually merge them by GTA VIII or so, but in the interview, The Benz says that "in that context reimagining Vice City would be very interesting." This implies R* would be more interested in recreating Vice in the context of a massive GTA world than as a standalone game. R* has a habit of biting off more than it can chew... whatever they're planning for VI next gen could be epic.
