Also I'm working on fullscreen textures fix for III/VC, it will be possible to have default textures unstretched:

And there's new option: FrontendTexAspectRatio = 4:3. You can set any other as long as you have textures in txd replaced with that ratio. For example, 16:9 menu background:

Windowed mode I added only for debug purposes, so that's gonna be it for now.

 

What do you mean? I didn't do anything with hud, only activated widescreen mode developers left in the files.

I'll upload it soon.

 

Thank you anyway. That'a better solution than using one more .dll hook.

 

That quesiton was for Aero_. Even without the safezone, we still made a very good progress for that 4 games. ;)

Thank you for the widescreen patches, Thirteen! It's great to be able to enjoy these older games in their full glory!

I like to play racing games with the xbox360 controller, and NFS U and U2 work great with it, however NFS MW and Carbon seem to have the steering deadzone too low(and not configurable ingame), so the car is always pulling left or right, I couldn't find a solution for this anywhere... could you take a look into it? is there anything you can do?

Put some textures from rockstar's website, if someone could do it better, I'd appreciate that. I plan to include the textures as additional download.

I'm have a x360 controller too , black , wire , 2013 .. and at all nfs games [ from und 1 to undercover ] — dead zone on R & L Sticks have a unplayable value , and You can't set it up anywhere . Other f*cking games - works correctly , but not NFS games . No any soft or driver can't fix it , LuL .

 

It's really bullsh*t , omg .

 

I think , needs to buy other device , like a dualshock with proof-drivers .

What? I tried the Underground games with a controller and the result was terrible (i.e. there is no deadzone) and there seems to be some input lag. They added a proper deadzone from Undercover onward I think. At least Undercover, Shift, Hot Pursuit, and Most Wanted (2012) work well with the 360 controller.

Yes, i was playing UG2 now, and i realized that it does have the same problem as MW and Carbon, but it wasn't as obvious and annoying, at least on my controller.

No lol , newest shift have cfgure of dead zone , all criterion games too ... nfs world works good , but other , old - no .

In PS at speed races impossible to keep the car at 402 kmh .

Its logic , from und 1 ( or older ) to nfs ps / undercover . They released one by one ...

 

So , buy new device .

The analog sticks deteriorate over time and they probably don't work as well as they did at first. The left one on my controller tends to steer slightly to the left but that's enough to render a game like NFS (with no deadzone) completely unplayable.

btw with the new d3d8.dll loader, my intro videos dont play. but if i switch back to the dinput8.dll loader they work fine. i am on Win7 x64.

About that alt-tab crash, redownload any gta fix and let me know if it still happens.

For some reason new version of d3d8to9 wrapper crashes on alt-tab, but the old one doesn't.

hmm, both old and new version doesn't crash the game for me, but alt-tab doesn't work
Sometimes it's just a black screen with only taskbar and task manager visible (like in SA), sometimes it's a game frame with windows cursor on it and clicking restores focus to game window

Actually it's very old problem and I'm sure it's not in your fixes, it's something with DX9 itself, because default GTA3 and VC alt-tabs normally, but not with d3d8to9 wrapper
Unfortunatly I haven't found any dependences or collisions. It's on Win7x64

On windows10 these games alt-tabbed correctly before the 1511 november update (I'm not sure too)

Very strange thing

EDIT:
Just booted into Win10 and solved the problem in 3/VC with enabling compatibility mode for anything older than Win8 (and nothing else!) and now there are working intros and working alt-tabbing.

But it worked in SA only for 50% - got working intros, but alt-tabbing still to black screen.
And it's some magic with SA - intros work without compatibility setting if I rename steam-style exe (gta-sa.exe) to gta_sa.exe like in old retail version

 

But nothing of these doesn't take effect in Win7x64

Disable them with SaveLoader or something? What's the problem?

All I did was make the HUD smaller using this address 006E6F6D. I suppose you could use it as a safezone too.

Dont use name "d3d8" . Expend Dinput , fix wndmode for other games and add function " external dll wrapper " like a enb / old sweetfx ...

You can use XInput plus to adjust DIrectInput deadzones.

(and please.. This is a thread for widescreen fixes, graphics at most)

Make sure you have desktop composition (iirc it was that) disabled in compatibility setting

idk what the issue is with the d3d8.dll :(. i changed nothing in the .ini except my res. the weird thing is the older dinput8.dll loads the intro video's fine. does it matter if i use your older dinput8.dll to load the scripts?

i didnt say there was something "wrong" with it. but when i use d3d8.dll no intro video play(on both III\VC). just a black screen. so i will just use you dinput8.dll instead.

All 4 games seem to be fine but theres a slight shadow bug that happening with most wanted, its often on the edges of the screen

 

only happens when shadows are on high ingame menu, when slider is in middle setting the issue goes

 

I didnt get the issue on an older version of your widscreen fix, its caused by the fov but when i put that to a zero in the config its making the game stretch horizontally, that also didnt happen in the older version

Well, can you find out exactly what causes that? Increased fov or some other option? If you set fov option to 0 the game shouldn't be stretched. Edited by ThirteenAG

But it is the game's fault. Most of the games from that era have no such issues. R* should've future-proofed it better.
