Does someone have a list of the differences between the PS2 version, PC, Xbox, and mobile versions?

PS2 is our original version.

PC: -same models, better resolution, no trails (can be turn on via menu hack), no gas grenade as a weapon, no Lionel Richie song on Flash FM.

Xbox: -better models, better reflections, not sure about the rest

Mobile: -IIRC better car models with old (taken from PS2) wheels, some songs are cut out from the soundtrack, different hud (like in GTA III), semi CTW camera.

no Bryan Adams song on Flash FM.

Huh? I can swear I've heard him on the radio in my game. Are you sure you don't mean Lionel Richie?

^of course he mistaken him with Lionel Richie. Only his song was removed from PC version. But on other hand android/iOs version has quite a few removed songs.

Michael Jackson "Billie Jean"

Michael Jackson "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin"

Ozzy Osbourne "Bark At The Moon"

Kate Bush "Wow"

Herbie Hanc**k "Rock It"

Afrika Bambaataa "Looking For The Perfect Beat"

And a couple of songs from Radio Espantoso

Vice City without MJ's songs is not Vice City anymore.

Yeah especially without Billie Jean confused.gif I remember that everytime I started new game this song would play first unfortunately it's no longer true in case of Android/iOS version. sad.gif Don't know about Steam though.

There are numerous differences between different versions--

If someone wants to compile a table and post it the columns would need the versions.... the rows would need EVERY feature that was ever changed (ie added or removed) -- then each box would need a checkmark or what not

Here is at least a partial list of the different versions.

PS2- Original

PS2- Early Double pack (not Haitian friendly)

PS2- Later Double pack (Haitian Friendly and every PS2 release after this-- greatest hits, triple pack, etc...) There may be more later changes resulting in more PS2 versions.

PC (disk)

XBOX

Steam (Original)

Steam (updated)-- I believe I read that they removed some songs a few months ago

MAC

IOS

Android

PS3 (PSN download)

This would be quite an undertaking if anyone wants to attempt it

I could make up the table, I would need alot of help in posting up the features and what versions have and don't have what.

PS2- Early Double pack (not Haitian friendly)

Haitian friendly?

Yeah, years later a bunch of groups complained that Vice City made Hatians minorities look bad, and they were forced by the courts to cut all mention of any negative stuff to Haitians, so a lot of dialogue was cut out and a lot of stuff was changed to not mention Hatian but merely "street gang", which of course meant the Cuban Missions, Haitian Missions and even some Avery Missions had the cutscenes cut shorter and badly re-edited to cut out any Hatian reference.

The Mobile Version and PSN version use this version as a base, I'm not sure if the new Steam version uses it to, but I'd put a guess on Yes seeing as the new Steam version has the songs removed in the exact same way as the Mobile and PSN version do.

These songs were also removed from PSN version? I'm glad that I have original and not haitian friendly versions on PS2 and PC.

I'm wondering...

...Is there a Haitian Unfriendly PC Version of GTA Vice City?

In mine, all dialogues looks and sound exactly the same as on PS2. "I hate those haitians" "Kill all the haitians" etc.

What about Trojan Voodoo?

"Hey ladies. You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna kill me a Haitian! And then, I'm gonna make love like a man. You know that, chica? Something like this."

Does he also say what I Bolded right now?

IIRC, yes. I may try to get some screenshot to show you, but I would have to start from the beginning, so it may take some time.

EDIT:

I've found some page with saves and I was able to start from Dirty Lickin's. Here's screen with that text you asked for.

I'm wondering... When did you buy your Copy of VC for PC?

I was buying it as "used" around 2009, but I believe it was one of the first versions from 2003. Unfortunately I bought it in non original box and without any additions (as map or book). CD's were in very bad condition, and one day they didn't made it, but hopefully I made backups.

EDIT: fixed typo

That's pretty cool, I guess.

Anyway, don't you mean 2003? There wasn't GTA VC for PC back in 2002.

Sneakerhead.

PS3 seems to be exactly like the PS2 version from what I remember.

What I don't remember though is the option to turn off trails, was this possible on the PS2 version? confused.gif

I know the animations on the PS2 are compatible with the PC and the audio can be converted, if what you're saying is true then I think we have a restoration project on our hands.

Not really, the PC version is fine. I'm not sure about the NEW Steam version, but the original PC version on Disc and the Steam Version (pre-taken down) are uncut.

I played the Steam version (Mac) recently, but it crossed my mind that Billie Jean wasn't part of the soundtrack when I entered the first ride. I thought it might have something to do with the fact that I exited the ride very quickly, but that doesn't make sense either, as the song is supposed to play the very second you hop into a ride at the start.

Mac version seems to have the same OST version as Iphone (without Michael Jackson songs).

One difference that comes to mind that hasn't been mentioned in this thread is the fact that Auntie Poulet's dress is purple in the PS2 and mobile versions while all other versions have her in the yellow dress.

I have the Steam version, and all the songs are still there-just like on my Original CD version(which I bought the CD version back in 2005)... smile.gif As for the Steam version, I have had it on my laptop since October of 2011 and just installed it on my desktop back in January of this year(2013)...

PC: -same models, better resolution, no trails (can be turn on via menu hack), no gas grenade as a weapon, no Lionel Richie song on Flash FM.

There were NO gas grenades on PS2 either(at least not on the Greatest Hits and Trilogy Pack versions)? confused.gif Also, the PC version has an HD resolution, whereas the PS2 version does not.-lol tounge2.gifHere's proof of HD on PC version.. lol tounge2.gif The only reason it shows "Option not available" is cause I took the snap shot after I loaded the game and thus you are unable to change resolutions after loading a save in VC and III for some reason?

About the songs that got cut, it is more than likely cause of a licensing issue with the newer game versions(PS3, I Pod/I phone, Android, etc.) as the songs were originally licensed to be used on the disc version(PS2/PC/X-Box) and when the Download versions came out(ie. PS3, Steam/D2D/Amazon/Gamestop, Android, I-Pod/I-Phone, etc.) meant the songs had to be licensed again for those versions, which did not happen for some reason? confused.gif

However, the good thing is: IF the Android/I-Pod versions have the User Track station you can just add those songs to that and use them in game. I'm sure you can do this on the Mac version, as it is a PC release, as Macs are computers. lol

That doesn't matter, you bought the game PRE-Taken Down version, so no matter what, you'll always have access to the Unedited version, it's the people who buy it NOW who will get the edited version with less music and possible Hatian Friendly edits to.

I was expecting someone to make a list between the original PS2, Haitian friendly, PC, Steam, mobile and beta (if possible) like the one on the GTA III Forums, can't find that topic.

Just carry on with the discussion anyway

Steam is identical to the PC version, just with a few scm changes for the drm. Pre-Takedown that is. Post takedown and you'll get the version that's missing the huge load of songs and hatian friendly edits.
