I've checked every single vehicle that we've been shown, and no gas tank (gas cap).

This pissed me off in IV and I guess V will be the same. Why do they choose to NOT include that?

I mean, sure it would be pretty fukin annoying when you are the driver and a few bullets to the rear quarter panel blows you up..but they don't have to make it blow up instantly. They can make it pour out gasoline, in flames..kinda like in IV. What do you guys think?

I think it should be back, altough not like in SA where a single shot would blow it up instantly. So I agree with you about that detail. A gas tank/cap would add realism to the game.

Maybe it's under the license plate?

It's not just that specific car, I said I checked every car. Unless you're implying that every car in the game has the gas cap behind the license plate. Which would be Saints Rowishly stupid! lol

I brought up this matter a long, long time ago. Since then I've learned to accept it. R* are innovative, but apparently not innovative to do what you said and make a shot to the gas canister result in flames which explode only after a little while, ultimately giving the player time to escape. Plus in real life, somehow I doubt that a car would explode instantaneously upon a single bullet fired.

It is a little surprising to me that R* would purposefully omit the image of a gas cap location. It seems too obvious to me to be a simple oversight. That'd be like if they forgot to render door handles, or something.

Why would they include unique license plates, but not the simple texture image of a gas tank lid? It's not like they have to include the explosion functionality from San Andreas.

I'm so confused, R*.

Exactly my point, it doesn't have to explode instantly. It's just a realistic weak point of any car.

It's not realistic though. Cars don't blow up when you shoot their gas tanks in real life, that's an action movie trope.

funny thing.

you say you checked every car.

where did you get the game?

as far as I know they could be located somewhere else in the car model.

also remember that almost all the first screenshots are either alpha or beta footage.

Cars have gas caps in real life by the way, not just a "movie trope".

But I'm just bothered by the lack of even just the image of a gas cap. I don't care if it explodes or not, I just want it to be visible, because it's a common part of every car. They have no reason to hide it.

I think I might just sue Rockstar if they don't have this by the time the game is released.

I'd be so depressed seeing so many cars without gas caps. Stressed out. Sleep deprived. sarcasm.gif

Sure, man. Also it shouldn't be THAT hard for Rockstar North developers to add that little detail on the cars.

We need to take to the R* message boards and bombard them with questions about this.

But, sadly, I am lazy. sad.gif

A car isn't going to start billowing flames if you shoot it in the gas tank either. Your "realism" is based off things you've seen in movies and videogames. It makes no sense.

It should leak trails of petrol, just like how you can make trails of petrol and set alight.

Please let me shoot your car's gas tank and see if it will just have pointless bullet holes.

Or your dad's car if you don't have one. Either one works.

Well, this isn't reality, is it? It's a game, therefore cars can explode like that.

Between this and that guy who wants mandatory 9 to 5 jobs in this thread http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=547461 , I'm seriously wondering if I should just pray for a privateer sequel so I can get into space and as far away from reality as possible.

Or maybe I'll just play naev, elite, or vega strike or something. Either way, I need to get off this planet, even if it's in game form.

Of course the cars can explode in a game, I'm just saying it's not realistic and shouldn't be paraded as such.

Dmos, if you have a gun and feel like paying for bullet hole damages, you can go right ahead and shoot my cars gas tank to see it explodes. You can even use your dads gun if you don't have your own.

Myth busters actually tested this in the episode "car capers" and it was proved that bullets will not explode a car by shooting at the gas tank.

However I do agree that the game doesn't need to be completely real and after a few shots it could leak gasoline and ignited.

In the real world you would need armor piercing incendiary rounds to ignite a gas tank so if you have that type of hardware... Go nuts. It ain't my car!!

Urgh. Seriously, who cares? It's not like it'll ruin the experience of V. Some of these complaints are so nitpicky.

Just gave me an epic idea.

You're driving your sports car through LS, some yob in a Blista starts following you and shoots your gas tank. Petrol starts pouring out. You weave left and right, spraying the Blista with the fuel, and throw a lit matchstick at the car. The Blista bursts into flames, spins out of control and flips into a ditch.

Cause its not realistic... U cant blow up a car by shooting in the tank....

That might work if the tank is almost empty and full of gases from the gas....

The game is unplayable without gas caps. It'll crash and shut down every time you get in a vehicle.

R* is sending a message to the people who want refueling. Vehicles in GTA don't need refueling, so there's no point for gas caps. They don't look nice on cars, so why add them if they have no use?
