nic_23
here is my story: Over a year ago today I drank about 16 pints of cider, tripped and fell over a ledge about 15 feet high, I fell backwards and landed on my back and also bounced my head off the floor so hard that I was out cold for 3 hours. I came in to consciousnesses about 1AM in the morning still very drunk and in pain, I could not stand up at all and could barely crawl, I thought this was the end and I saw my whole life flash before me, I thought about my family and I wanted to be with them and not in this place. I was lay in the same position for about half an hour screaming "help me please someone help me" and I was in tears, I tried to stand up but fell over so i crawled on my hands and knees into town screaming help and eventually later some drunken guys managed to help me and a guy at the pizza shop drove me home thinking I was just drunk. when he dropped me off at my house I could barely get out of his car and I went step by step to my house and I could barely walk, I managed to crawl upstairs into bed and sleep. the next morning i had to have the ambulance come and collect me from my house because I was in my bed and could not move without the pain. I went to the hospital and it turned out i broke my back and my pelvis bones and was close to nearly ending up in a wheel chair. It was a painful recovery of having titanium rods fitted to my spine but now I am nearly back to normal. I sometimes get pain but its just something i have to live with. I had to wait about 2 weeks before the operation and that was very horrible stuck in a bed lay in one place being pumped with morphine and feeling trippy everyday. The moral of the story: Drink responsible guys so has anyone else had anything bad happen to them or has your life ever flashed before your eyes? na89340qv0n34b09q340
I remember when I first tried to skateboard, or roller skate, or something like that I fell back on my head and got one of those rainbow flashes like in the cartoons; it lasted maybe half-a-second. That head-injury really hurt, I can't imagine falling 15 feet onto the back of my head. Otherwise, no. I haven't had any interesting near-death experiences. Apparently I came quite close to having a sh*tty life as a baby though, being born pre-mature and at risk for many developmental disorders, and only getting a slight growth stint through my childhood as a result. Lelouch The Zero
The morale of the story should be don't drink at all
Acehilm
In some situations were things have gone wrong, I think about my life and family. I've skydived a few times and the plane ride is always strange as my thoughts run wild. ( I think about life and death; i.e, when we die, do we die alone). GTAfan786
Or maybe not drink at all? If i was close to paralysis like you, i would forget about drinking in my whole life after the incident.
TheTerminatorNY
About 6 years ago I found myself looking straight into the barrel of a gun and I thought I was going to die. My life didn't flash before my eyes, but all I thought about was my wife and how I would never see her again. I always told her that if anything happened to me, she should always know that I fought to my last breath to try and get back home to her. All I could think about was how I was going to die in a flash without the chance to put up a fight. I was going to leave her alone; a 21-year-old single mother (she was pregnant at the time) without a husband. The whole thing lasted about three seconds, but it felt like minutes. Luckily, the dude never pulled the trigger.
GTASAddict
I can relate to the user above. Three years ago, when Federal Marshals barged in to arrest my sisters boyfriend, they aimed a gun at me, telling me to "get on the ground" then they realized I wasn't the one they were looking for. I was so scared I got dizzy with blurred vision.
Pyrrhic
Mine hasn't. But I've never been in a life-threatening or life-and-death situation. To be fair even if I was I don't think it would. I'm not someone like that.

trip
I can't say that my life has flashed before my eyes in some sort of memory sequence, but there are countless times where I thought "I'm about to die right now". That is the essence of life though. Situations where you should die are what make you feel alive. Lil ski
I didn't experience any life flashes (especially like the sh*t you see in movies) but when I was in Afghanistan, I had this super super cold surreal feeling when I took my first incoming on base ( hearing the mortars whistle in real life feels so surreal and scary that I can't even explain) also getting into my first firefight down in the Pech Valley was the same way. Like everything was happening so fast that you felt like you was gonna die at any moment. But the firefight gave me a huge adrenalin rush, like it wasn't the good or bad kind but it was wierd and surreal as hell!

K20
not flash backs but the event was like so slow when it happened and i just thought of my family after. i swear my heart stopped for 2 seconds when it happened i was crossing the road at a crossing point at a junction. cars were waiting for the lights to go green. the lights which tell me to cross were not working, and i can't tell if lights for the cars is red of green as i can't see them. so i started crossing the two lane road. a lorry on one side and next to it a bus. i got exactly half way crossing the road when both vehicles accelerated off [racing or some stupid reason] when the lights went green. i froze in place. not another step forward, both vehicles went pass me with me in the middle. millimetres from my face and behind me. thought i was going to die. cars behind the lorry and bus stopped and looked in disbelief at how close it all was. all i did was carry on my merry way. OP: i don't think drinking is your thing.
H. León
When I was 12 I used to go hiking to the forest with some friends older than me (~17). Once we were climbing an acclivity of around 3 meters high, but in the other side the acclivity had a 90 degree angle, so we had to hang from a tree and jump to the other side, to a small lake. When it was my turn, my hand slipped (I was a pretty fat kid) and I fell on my back outside of the lake. I was scared while falling because I tought I could fall on my head, luckily I didn't. That was the only moment I've flashed my (in that moment short) life through my eyes.
Fireman
I actually had my life flash by without being in any (physical) danger at all. It was more the results of worrying about my future and how I was doing at that moment. Let's say I wasn't in any physical danger. mrpain
I'm always doing this when I'm sitting on the toilet. Everytime I take a dump, my mind flashes to all those memorable moments in my life so far. I can't be the only one right? Some of my biggest life revelations were solved in the toilet.
GTA_stu
Bizarrely it happened to me when a nuclear bomb landed in my city and exploded. This was in a dream, I'm not some 80 year old Hiroshima survivor. It was one of those dreams that felt so real, and my life seemed to flash before me just like in the movies. It's never happened in real life though, I don't think I've really ever been in a life threatening situation. Well I can't think of a time anyways, and you'd expect that if you nearly died that you'd remember the f*cking thing. So no I have never been in or had a near death experience. Luckily, the dude never pulled the trigger. From that I assume you were getting robbed? Jesus, that does sound frightening. No, I was actually looking for the guy! I was only a few weeks out of the police academy and made some stupid mistakes that almost lead to losing my life that night. To make a long story short, there was an armed robbery at grocery store and the suspect took off on foot. My partner and I (both rookies) were told by a Sgt to search an apartment building, but what none of us knew was that the building had a west and east staircase, instead of just one in the center. So my partner and I foolishly took different staircases all the way up 12 flights to the roof. I got to the roof first and was totally exhausted and wasn't as attentive as I should have been. As I walked around the roof and turned a corner the suspect was standing there with his gun pointed at me. Instead of shooting, he just bolted down the staircase I came up. If he pulled the trigger I would have been dead. In a way this was a good lesson to learn, as I have not let my guard down since! But it was very scary and not something I ever want to experience again.
