jamieleng
"Often times people ask us 'Why don't you come out with Grand Theft Auto every two years?' To us, that doesn't make sense, because Grand Theft Auto, every single time it comes out, is a brand new experience. You can't possibly do that in two years. And if we did that, our product would fatigue and the franchise would degrade from a value perspective." Honestly, we must be the luckiest gamers in the world, I mean, having such developers really rocks, especially if you compare this attitude to that of EA, for instance. Thumbs up. You'd think so. However, it seems that a lot of gamers want to throw their money at gaming companies for doing nothing more than re-skinning a game and calling it a sequel. Yes, 5 years is a long time to wait, but it will be worth every cent/penny of the asking price & will give you years of enjoyment. Many developers/publishers view gamers as addicts & not customers these days.
Gtaghost22
Sorry, but the likes of L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3 just don't cut it. The only R* games worth a damn this gen have been IV, RDR, and now V. Have you even played Max Payne 3? If you have and didn't really like it then that is fine by me. I'm just sick of people bashing it for no f*cking reason, it's an amazing game, one of the best Third person shooters this gen and definitely "worth a damn" imo. It just has a lot of multiplayer issues. I was playing last night and while I did finally hit max rank, I got booted from one game for no reason and then ran into another one of the infamous invisible players. I think the reason why a lot of people are bashing Max is due to the fact that R* really botched the job for multiplayer. Errors running wild from day one and some still there today. They delayed a lot of the DLC and canceled the planned NY co-op mode. There are many cheaters that R* doesn't seem to care at all about. Meta provided PROOF of multiple people from the Angency Crew cheating like crazy and R* did absolutely nothing. They are all still playing. Actually the reason they hate MP3 is because they think that it was responsible for the lack of marketing behind GTA V .
killahmatic
Personally, I feel the reason for a trailer is to get people exciting for something coming soon. Don't release a trailer if you aren't even close to being finished. If GTA V releases in September then that are over 22 months after the first trailer which is quite some time. My point is that Rockstar aimed to release GTA V in 2012 but the game was delayed internally for whatever reason(s). My point was that a 22 month difference is unacceptable. The original 18 month delay was bad enough, but to then continue it another 4 months shows a real lack of... well, i don't know what they lack, but its something. Now, I love the GTA series, and R* for making it. I'm truly not trashing them, but I'm disappointed in the way they promoted this game woven between serious delays, particularly the first year after trailer 1 when they didn't tell us anything, no news, no updates. Secondly in January when they announced the cover, but replaced its reveal with the wonderful news that V wouldn't be for another 8 months. At this point, we should all just hope that V really is coming in September, but expect another delay, to avoid disappointment .

You're right, saying they are "not worth a damn" is probably too harsh. I did enjoy Noire and MP3, completing both at least twice, but I didn't enjoy them nearly as much as IV and RDR. That's what I was trying to drive home, anyway. R* excels at the sandbox genre, so why not let other devs like let Naughty Dog worry about the linear third person shooter and focus their efforts on cranking out big, system selling open world games like GTA and Red Dead every 2 years or so? The numbers don't lie: Max and Noire were expensive as f*ck to produce and yielded returns that, while acceptable, are nothing compared with GTA. I get the whole "I don't want a new GTA every year" thing, I do. At the same time COD is making $$ hand over fist year after year. People say "oh it's just a re-skinned POS" and yet it sells millions---in a day. R* should focus on GTA more and other games less. They spent all this time and $$ on Max Payne and Noir to make hardly any $$ (compared to GTA). I don't even want a new GTA every year, but every 2-3 would be nice. But hey, as long as they have all us fan-boys drooling over every bit of info... I don't think it will happen. I've heard people (mostly Zee) calling R* lazy for years now. I'm starting to see what they were talking about. I don't know about your job, but mine is heavily dependent on making deadlines...
junkpile
I'm playing Assassin's Creed Revelations at the moment and this series is a good example for degrading the value of a game. Every title has slightly better graphics and adds little more details. Music, action, story, everything is nice. But it feels the same somehow. While I was playing Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, I liked how you raised these shops yourself, how you trained assassins which help you, send them on missions. but I was missing the variety in different cities. Assassin's Creed II had this. Now Revelations is like Brotherhood. Only with even more options like bombs and defending your hideouts from intruders. Also a hook blade has been added but not much more. I won't even bother with the multiplayer... I guess noone plays Revelations or Brotherhood when they can play AC III online. AC series has some neat games, but they're also repetitive. And since 2008 it's still GTA IV's multiplayer...there to stay. People still play it. I can't see how releasing games in a quick manner can do any good to the franchise. GTA V will be there to stay for years to come.
