Seenyour31
Hello everyone, let me start by saying I did do a search on this before I posted this topic, and although a few had touched vaguely on the subject, they mostly were about peds committing random crimes against each other, this one is only about crimes committed against the player/protagonist. GTA V should bring back the ability for NPC's to carjack the protagonist like back in GTA III, I believe that feature has been missing from each GTA sequel since(atleast I don't remember seeing it). Anyway remember the anger/pain you felt after unexpectedly being ripped outta your vehicle, you futilely gave chase on foot but couldn't keep up as you see your car round the corner thinking you'd never see it again, but then to your delightment you see that same prick has made the mistake of driving back towards you, and you blow him and the car to smithereens with the RPG or the carbine rifle? good times. My thoughts were in GTA:V the carjackings would happen mostly in the ghettos, out in the badlands where Trevor lives, and other seedy/shady areas, and you would be more prone to it(but not enough to make it annoying) if you were driving one of GTA V's fancy luxury cars or the sportier supercars etc... and less likely if you were driving a average or rundown vehicle, but it would still be a possibilty. Imagine you're minding your own business, you pull over trying to pick up a lady plying her trade in "the worlds oldest profession" and BAM!!! some prep is yanking you out and attempting to speed off in your vehicle, some would even try to carjack you at gunpoint (which ironically in Grand Theft would be the easier of the two to escape from, whats a few bullets in the back as you peel off in the grand scheme of things in the world of GTA?, a quick stop at a Burger Shot, Cluckin' Bell, foodstand etc.. and you're good as new). You should also be the target of other types of crime in the rougher areas, in SA rival gangs would harass, attempt to fight, or shoot at CJ, and in IV one mission had Niko going to kill someone in a housing project, and some of the target's boys said things to him like "you don't belong around here" and "you better get outta here before you get hurt" but none of them did anything until you got kinda close to your target, whereas in V various gangstas, thugs, drunken rednecks, and street tuffs, should sometimes hassle you unprovoked, and once they start to hassle you they would follow you and continue to harass you until (A). you ran away (sometimes they would give chase) or (B). the sh!t hits the fan and you either attack them or eventually they will attack, shoot at, or attempt to rob you.(Plus with the new "flip-off people" feature think how cool it would be to get approached by a group of thugs, having them talking trash to you, while you just coolly stand there for a few seconds doing nothing, then you nonchalantly flip them the finger, before cutting them all down with your shotgun, SMG, or assault rifle, talk about BADASS!) Being robbed could work like a mixture of having guns drawn on you by the cops in IV when you had a one star wanted level and the ability to give money to street performer and vagrants, and a combination of things could happen. When first held at gunpoint you throw your hands up and a message pops up giving you the option to toss/hand over money at the press of a button(LB on the 360), at this point you can either (A) press the button to give up the money, (B) there would be a option to stealthy ready your weapon kinda like the kill the attorney mission; where you could get your gun ready without the robber knowing and you could quick fire on your attacker and set it off, which could result in a gunfight if there's more than one gunmen or maybe the others are not armed and they attempt to run away at which point you can let them escape or bust a cap in their arse, (I think we all know which option we'd choose), or C. just like breaking away from the cops in IV, if you attemped to walk or run away the robber(s) would open fire on you, of course at that point you could draw your own weapon/firearm(if you had any) and try to take out your would be robbers(sometimes his friends/gang members would come as back up and shoot it out with you, sometimes after you took out a few the rest would run away like cowards and you'd feel a sense of satisfaction from fighting off these chumps), or you could just attempt to high-tail it out of there. Later in the game when you inevitably become a walking armory these scenarios would be small potatoes, and you'd be asking "do you feel lucky punk" and practically begging them to "make your day", but in the early going when I presume you have little to no weapons, it would add to the fun as you would have to watch your back and who was around you (once again not something that happened everytime you ventured into a shady part of town, or to the point where it got annoying or tedious, but just sometimes at random and esp. late at nite/early morning like most violent crime). Not only would it add to the gameplay enviroment, it would also give you more people to fight against/start trouble with besides the police, SWAT, millitary, and the few brave peds that may accept your challenge to fistfight (or the ones that comes to the aid of the damsel in distress that you're assaulting), or the even rarer NPC's that carries guns you sometimes encounter, additionally it would make the dangerous areas feel well......dangerous, I mean c'mon in GTA IV Niko would be strolling thru Bohan or North Holland at 2AM like he owned the place and you never felt like you were truly in a crime infested, rundown part of town, save a few ladies of the night doing their thing. I apologize in advance for the length of this post, as I said in the beginning I did search and know that there is already a topic about NPC's being able to carjack you, but it hasn't been touched in about 3 months and I didn't want to bump a old post up with this post/mini novel (see I'm learing the rules here , plus it includes others crimes being committed against you and not just about carjackings, lastly it would make the ghettos of Los Santos(and other rough areas) feel more "ghettoly," and ominous, yes I just made that up, thank you for your time gentlemen. Petsevsky
Good idea, made me remember the "red" and "green" guys from GTA 2. The red robs your money and the green jacks other NPCs' cars.

98 in 1
It definitely needs to return in my opinion. As for your other suggestions, those could be cool if implemented right. And for the record, it did occur in VC and SA, just a lot less frequently than in III.
eze e
Great idea man. As I was reading, I remembered about that scene in the first trailer when two black dudes meet in the street, and the one in a white tee kind of grill the other one, who just brushes it off like f*ck it. So maybe something like what you said will be implemented in the game.

Eliston
I've been carjacked a few times in GTA IV. Really? Never once have I been carjacked in GTAIV, not even by NPC's whose car I just stole.
