Fireman
At what level do we grade ourselves against? There are many gamers out there who can make a living winning many competitive tournaments around the world or even placing in 2nd or 3rd. How often do you top leaderboards in many games in a genre? Surely these are the gamers that should be getting the 8's, 9's and 10's. We're grading ourselves against the games, not necessarily against other online players (after all most of these genres still have more offline games than online games). Though I suppose with the FPS genre it's hard to ignore other players since FPS are almost always online. I'd still grade myself a 9/10 out of then for FPS's though. Played CS:CZ for a while at a decent level and whenever I play a FPS I haven't played before I get the hang of it within an hour or two, enough so to beat my friends which have been playing for a few months/years. Online GTA IV racing, I get 1st, 2nd or 3rd out of a 16 player race. I've been in tournaments and the majority of the time been in the top half, mostly first or second. I rate myself a 10 because I beat pretty much everyone, and the times I get beat are from people who are also 10s. Somebody has to win.

GunWrath
Action: 8/10 Racing: 8/10 FPS: 8.5/10 RPGs: 6/10 Fighting: 6.5/10 Strategy: 7/10 Sports: 9/10 (That's my sh*t.. Madden and Tiger yo!) Achievements: 5/10, I don't really go for them, I unlock these usually by luck or just so much time into a game.
Adler
It's also awkward how you can score yourself how good you are at RPG's, I don't break character while playing, does that make me good at RPG? Haha true that. Being good at RPGs, to me, means that you have a firm grasp on RPG logic e.g. the middle path with the ominous doorway is usually where you're supposed to go and other paths lead to treasure, and if the game suddenly gives you a ton of healing items and a save point, it usually means a boss is coming up. No idea how you could score that from 1-10. For RPGs and the like, I don't think being a completionist counts a skill that you could score since all you need is a ton of time, the internet or past experience with the game for that. Also consider that average should be 5/10 then you're definitely not a 10. Apart from racing and flying games where I'd give myself a 7 and 8 respectively (generally win most dogfights in Ace Combat and post podiums a lot more often than not in Forza for example, annoyingly I don't even have time to play these let alone any games), I'd say I'm about a 4 on FPS and 3 or lower on the rest. I just don't play often enough to actually beat the regular online players on a game most of the time. That and I suck. Edit: Please note I only count online play. Offline these days is deliberately easy in order to keep you entertained. Edited March 10, 2013 by Mark

Lelouch The Zero
Not sure how I would grade myself for each Genre, but all in all, I would rate myself as 10/10, I have beaten MANY games without any trouble, so I doubt that will ever change. EDIT: My Gamerscore is actually pretty high now, I think my current Gamerscore listed online is pretty outdated, as I don't have Live. I only connect my Xbox to an Ethernet cable in the living room sometimes to download updates and all that. I'm not sure how much higher it is now, I'd have to check. It's 14,659 now. Yeah well I don't have Xbox Live, so I can't get some achievements which sucks imo. I've had my Xbox 360 for eight years now. The first five years I was Xbox Liveless as well. I got my 15K around that time period. It was mostly because I game on games that were...um.... let's say average such as Cars and Army Of Two. I still game on the big titles but I still play the minor ones too. Now that I have Xbox Live, I only play big games nowadays. Mostly because I don't have that huge amount of dedication to gaming right now. And I'm also slowly switching to PC gaming ever since I got my new gaming laptop. Been playing Team Fortress 2 on my lappy the whole night. There are games where achievement hunting can be quite a pleasure to do. Games like Dead Rising and Sleeping Dogs gave us doable achievements that were fun and challenging. I know people who play sh*t games just to perfect the achievement scores. Oh right, so you genuinely do think that GTA races require a semblance of skill, and that correlates to your skill in the racing genre. Like I said, 4th or 5th in any sort of racing game is exactly the reason you are not a 10 - You're barely at the top 25th percentile with those positions. That would apply even if there were 32 players. If you're placing 4th or 5th, you're not a 10. If you get beaten, you're not a 10. I have World Records in a racing game, can I grade myself a ten then? Or does it have to be in all racing games ever made? So do/have I across Project Gotham, Forza, Burnout and Trials, yet I'd almost be reluctant to give myself a 10. Only almost though, heh. You're right about questioning skill in 1 game vs. a whole genre, though. Edited March 10, 2013 by EmSixTeen
