Forzum
So exactly how good are you in gaming? Describe in a 0-10 scale of different genres within games how good you are. Action Games When it comes to actions games, I've always had the grip around the fire/attack button to finish off my enemy (cod, halo etc), I played tons of hours of different action games , so I consider myself to be close to a "master". 9/10 RPG This is where my best skills lie, I've grown up with Final Fantasy, hell it was even the first game I've ever played and I loved it, since then I played a lot of RPG's and I spend tons of hours on them, I'm not finished until I've got the best gear, defeated the hardest bosses and been in every location. 10/10 Strategy Games I don't tend to play much games within this genre, tho I've played tons & tons of Heroes III, but other than that not so much. 2/10 (10/10 in heroes ) Racing Games I have always enjoyed racing games, and I spend like 70% of my time on GTA games just driving, if it's a good feel to it. I consider myself to be quite good at these games, and I like them. 8/10 Fighting Games This is something I'm more average at, I enjoy them a lot but I'm not great at them, just good. 6/10 Sport Games This is just a genre that I enjoy to play with friends, nothing that I really play myself. 3/10 Music Games Here it's guitar hero that has been played, I got quite good at it. 7/10 Platform Games I don't tend to play so much platform games, but I've played some and I see myself as an average here. 5/10 Trophy/Achievement Hunting When it comes to gathering those Trophies/Achievements I tend to feel like I'm not done with a game until I've platinumed it so I try to gather most of the trophies and aiming for the Platinum. 7/10 How good are you? AceRay
I am a gaming master, I'm simply the absolute the greatest at every genre. Ha ha, just kidding, I'm really best at JRPGs and action games. My worst would be party games and trivia games, but then again everyone sucks at those so I'm not alone there!
mrpain
Interesting topic. FPS Games: I'm really good at these games, in multiplayer at least. Everytime I play Big Team Slayer in Halo 4, I'll always be leading the team with at least 30 kills to my name. Far Cry 3 too is another notable mention, I'm always the dude reviving my teammates. I do however suck a lot of cock in Battlefield 3. How people get to be so good in the game baffles me a lot. Racing Games : Yeah, no. I can't even complete my first lap in Project Gotham Racing 4 properly. RPG Games: Depends on the game itself. I find myself exploiting RPG games a lot so they are a breeze to me. Fireman
Shame you forgot the arguably hardest online genre: Strategy games. If I were to play a strategy game online I'd get my ass kicked so much it wouldn't even be funny. The pros have such a huge advantage there compared to for example FPS-games. I'd still give myself a 4/10 though, I don't think I'll lose ALL the time
Gtaghost22
Good topic. Action-Adventure (TPS): I'm quite good I would say. 9.5/10 Action-Adventure (H&S): Not the best. 7.5/10 First person shooters: I don't really like them, so I rarely play them, maybe that is why I'm not good at them? Or the other way around? 2/10 (W)RPGs: I don't think anyone can be bad at those, most of them are quite easy if you asked me. 8/10 (J)RPGs: Not good, I hate the battle system that exists in most of those games. 4/10 Racing: Not that good, just above average. 6.5-7/10 Fighting: I don't know, I would say I'm quite good at Tekken/Mortal Kombat but Street Fighter/Blazblue? Not really. 6/10 Sports: I'm better than most of my friends but I'm quite sure I'm not the best. 7.5/10 Music Games: I suck at those games. 1.5/10 Platformers: I was pretty good back in the day but right now, I wouldn't say I deserve higher than a 7/10. Trophy/Achievement Hunting: Not good, I tend to ignore them. 4/
sunkirasu
FPS Games: 5.5/10, this rating differs daily though, as for some days I'm pretty good and others it's like screw-over city. I wonder how I'll go at Battlefield 3 with a controller that hasn't been in my hand for a good sum of years, as I just bought a PS3. (had a X360 for that good sum of years) Strategy Games: 0/10, I suck monkey nads at this genre. Racing Games: 4/10, I also suck at this and it also bores me easily. RPG Games: 7.5/10, I'm pretty decent at this one, even though I don't do too much of the side quests during the main story, but if the game has free roam after the story, side quest city for me. Sandbox Games: 10/10, NOW this is my genre, kinda explains why I am a GTA fan. I'm pretty good at the genre . Music Games: 0/10, I'm terrible at them, nuff said. Fighting Games: 5/10, Decent at Tekken and terrible at Street Fighter. Sports Games: 0/10, don't even go there. Trophy/Achievement Hunter: 5/10, depends on the game TBH. El Dildo
I'm not terribly good at games, they're more like a hobby than a true passion. I use cheats and trainers and mods all the time. for me, the game is more about playing however you enjoy playing and essentially ignoring any of the rules that you don't like. Algonquin Assassin
I'd consider myself pretty good at most genres, but racing is my specialty which makes sense because I'm a real life car nut. It goes all the way back to the original NFS on PC (Actually I still remember Test Drive back in 92/93). Everything from arcade racers, to sims like Gran Turismo and Forza, Nascar, F1 etc. The only type I haven't quite got on top of are motorbikes. I've owned a few bike games over the years, but I'm more comfortable with 4 wheels. For the racing genre I'd rank myself a 9/10. Music is probably my weakest. Could never get the hang of Guitar Hero. GoldenBlade
Am I the only one here good at Music games? I can play Guitar Hero/Rock Band on Expert on every instrument. I used to be the biggest fan...Now, my life focuses around Gran Turismo, Need For Speed, and Grand Theft Auto. Other than music, I'm really good at Racing games. I'd consider myself pretty awesome, especially at drifting on NFS/Gran Turismo<---2 of my favorite series of games
Sneakerhead.
Action games: I rate my self a 8/10 offline, and a 7/10 online. Racing: 10/10 offlne, and 9-8/10 online. Music: Never really played any, but I imagine my score being maybe a 5/10 or 4/10. FPS: All I have is Battlefield 3, I am like a 9/10 when it comes to skill on there. Sandbox: 10/10, Sandbox games are great. RPG: Never really played one, I would imagine it to be something like 3/10. Platform games: Maybe a 6/10. Trophy/Achievment hunter: If it's too hard, I say f*ck it, 5/10. Sports games: Never really played any.
Raavi
Action games: I'm pretty good at action games single as well as multiplayer and I rate myself, although pretty conservatively a 8.5/10. FPS: Well on PS3 a 6/10 and on PC a 7.5/10 not really my strongpoint. Sandbox: A definite 10/10. Sports games: I played a few FIFA games and I was pretty good at it so I would rate myself an 8/10. – overeducated wonk who fetishises compromise

ccrogers15
Simulation I downright love this genre. Sadly, its rare to find a good sim game anymore. To name some of my faves, i love The Urbz, Simcity 4, Simtown, and Cities XL. 10/10 Survival Horror My fave genre. My fave franchises in this are Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Obscure. I rarely die in this genre, unless its hard mode on Resident Evil 4 or 5. 9/10 Action Games Very good at these. I like the action and like to go fast. Depending on the franchise of course. But usually, i can only play in easy or normal difficulty as i get really impatient if i die. 8/10 RPG Probably the best with me. I have played hundreds of RPGs. I love the genre as i like to read. 10/10 Racing Games Ive always hated racing games. 5/10 Fighting Games Im pretty bad at this. 0/10 Sport Games I hate sports. And i suck at these games. 0/10 Music Games I really never liked music games aside from Rapappa. 5/10 Platform Games Im very good, and tend to rarely die in these. Ive beated over a thousand platform titles, as i grew up with this genre. (See my signature for an example of a platform game i love) 10/10 Trophy/Achievement Hunting Im pretty good at it. I like to do this alot. Im a level 12 on PSN. See my username there. However i recently stopped getting trophies as i refuse to buy any new games until the PS4 releases. 10/10 Here is my PSN if you wanna see my trophies and stats: http://psnprofiles.com/ccrogers15 Edited March 8, 2013 by ccrogers15

ThunderSt0rm
Action Games: 10/10 - Pretty much super professional at action games and also my favorite genre of gaming. RPG: 8/10 Pretty much normal since it depends on what RPG game i play, overall i am good. Racing Games: 7/10 Decent enough, but sometimes i screw my cars up so that's why i am decent, because i always speed up and forget to put my breaks on. Fighting Games: 7/10 Was a noob at these back then, now i am good at it even though i haven't played this genre for atleast few months. FPS Games: 9/10 When it comes to BF3, COD, CS etc. i am very good at them. Good reflexes and skill never cease to surpise me. Sport Games: 5/10 Well i definately lack skill on those and is my weak point, still i keep improving, but seems that i do suck at this genre. Music Games: 6/10 Definately when i am on my mood, i keep handling the game well, but i got few weakpoints for that so i am kinda decent. Strategy games: 4/10 only good at stealth and that's why i kept failing on RS: Rogue Spear. I'm more of a muscle than a brain when it comes to those. Platform Games: 5/10 I tend to suck at those Trophy/Achievement Hunting: 10/10 I love achievements and i always hunt them all! I'd say i could rate myself 7.8/
Guest
I'd rank myself a 9 in racing games in general. For GTA I'd rank myself 10, because I drive alot in that. For shooters, I'd say around 6-7, I'm better than most people but when it comes to hardcore players I'd only do a little well. For RPG's I'd say around a 5, I've started playing Fallout and I like it, but I wouldn't call myself a god. Open world games defo a 10, I'm pretty well rounded in driving and shooting. Also, what irks me in this thread are people saying "i hate driving games" and rating it a 3, yet they're fanboys of GTA and saying they're amazing. GTA is technically a driving game with shooting added, that's why IV has epic driving and quite terrible shooting.

corvettelover
-2.1943/10 For all. Seriously, I find Modern Warfare 3's single play somewhat hard lmao. Fireman
I completely despise throphy and achievement hunting as lately it adds nothing to the game. In some games you're rewarder with finding a ton of stuff, which is ok, but other games have collectables just to have collectables. It's also awkward how you can score yourself how good you are at RPG's, I don't break character while playing, does that make me good at RPG? Mr Rabbit
sports games (out of sports I am interested in) - 9.5/10 racing - 6.5/10 sandbox - 8.5/10 RPG - 10/10 platformers - 8.5/10 action adventure (even though I hate using this as a genre, when I say this I mean tomb raider, uncharted, assassins creed that kind of thing) - 7/10 trophy hunting - 9/10 - if I set my sights on a platinum I get it. don't always set my sights though, usually cos i don't like the game that much music - 3/10 - never play them, only once and I did ok for a beginner FPS - 5.5/10 fighting games - 7/10 arcade games (time crisis, warblade etc) - 9/10 overall - 8.6/10 - using a weighted average of my scores for genre by genre - weighted by how much i play them, approximately so maybe not super reliable Edited March 8, 2013 by NateShaw92

Pyrrhic
My three strongest genres would definitely be Racing, Third Person Open-world Games (like GTA, Max Payne et al) and classic platformers lime Spyro and Crash Bandicoot. I am f*cking terrible at First Person Shooters like CoD and Battfield and I also suck at those side on fighting games like Mortal Kombat. Coincidentally, I also hate these types of games, so I don't both putting any effort into playing them well.
Seddo
At what level do we grade ourselves against? na89340qv0n34b09q340
RPG 8/10 - I don't play RPGs much, but when I do I'm really good at them. Racing Games 7/10 - I beat the Midnight Club games, and they're considered really hard (the first two, at least). I'm not as good at most other racing games, but I'm a hell of a lot better than the people I grew up with. Fighting Games 4/10 - At least for the arcade-style fighting games. I was pretty good at Yakuza, but stuff like Marvel vs Capcom and Street Fighter aren't my good points. Sport Games 5/10 - I haven't played a sports game in a long time. I'm also not that good at them. Rhythm Games 3/10 - I have trouble with Guitar Hero on easy mode. Dance games are a little better for me, but not by much. Platform Games 5/10 - I haven't beaten I Wanna Be The Guy, or even gotten very far in the Mario platformers. I guess I have to be in the mood. Trophy/Achievement Hunting Gamefaqs/10 - I don't actually look for these on my own, but I do tend to get a lot of them accidentally. Sandbox 8/10 - You can't really grade yourself on sandbox games, but someone else did, so what the hell. 8/10 is how much fun I have with them. FPS 7/10 - To be good at these I have to get in the zone. usually I can warm up to an FPS in about 3 hours, but I'm still not great. I think my best killstreak was 36 in a tank level in CoD: WAW. 3PS 8/10 - I grew up playing Ratchet & Clank, so I'm pretty good. Most of the skill comes from hiding behind corners, but still. Puzzle 9/10 - This is a baby genre, so it's easy points for me. @Fireman - I think collectibles add a second game on, in a way. It's not like you have to go around collecting them either. Durden
Action Games When it comes to actions games, I've always had the grip around the fire/attack button to finish off my enemy (cod, halo etc), I played tons of hours of different action games , so I consider myself to be close to a "master". 9/10 RPG Sure, I like RPGs. I loved the elements that made SA an RPG, and as a kid I loved games like AdventureQuest, DragonFable, Runescape, and I would've liked WoW if I wasn't so stingy. I'm proficient once I get used to the individual game (as each RPG is very unique from one another). 8/10 Racing Games The genre that is on the borderline of like/dislike. I like the idea of racing games, but I just feel that the concept is exhausted and somewhat bland. I mean, really, how different can these games be from one another? Since all games are going for realism now, nothing is really distinguished between them. However I am average at them (by no means good), and do find them enjoyable since I play them in rare moderation. 6/10 Fighting Games Rarely play them. Battle Royal is my first, really. But I seem quite OK at it. 6/10 Sport Games Nothing except spite for these games. They are the only games worse than the CoD franchise, and that is a fact not an opinion. At least CoD has a full-fledges single player campaign, as well as very noticeable changes to multiplayer. You can describe Sports games by finding the antonyms of what I've said about CoD. 1/10 Music Games Here it's guitar hero that has been played, I got quite good at it. 7/10 Platform Games I don't tend to play so much platform games, but I've played some and I see myself as an average here. 7/10 Trophy/Achievement Hunting When it comes to gathering those Trophies/Achievements I tend to feel like I'm not done with a game until I've platinumed it so I try to gather most of the trophies and aiming for the Platinum, forcing myself if its a game I really enjoy. 8/

Vega LVI
I'll select my top two and my absolute worst: • Music/Rhythm: Definitely my strongest genre. I've been a fan of Guitar Hero and Rock Band since they emerged on the scene in 2007 and 2009, respectively. I can play any song from any game on the guitar on expert difficulty. [10.0 out of 10.0] • RPG: Another strong ability of mine. I have poured many hours in Final Fantasy back in the day, as long as countless time spent on Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim, among many others. [9.5 out of 10.0] • Fighting: Absolutely suck at fighting, hand-to-hand combat games. My brothers always used to beat the living sh*t out of me in games such as King of Fighters, Mortal Combat, Deadliest Warrior and so on. [4.0 out of 10.0]
Forzum
At what level do we grade ourselves against? There are many gamers out there who can make a living winning many competitive tournaments around the world or even placing in 2nd or 3rd. How often do you top leaderboards in many games in a genre? Surely these are the gamers that should be getting the 8's, 9's and 10's. Well it's about how good you think you are, 10 is like "this is what I'm best at and I have no problems with these kinda of games/ I'm better than the most at", you don't necessarily have to have been in competitions or leaderboards to think you are a great gamer at a certain game. I've hit shared top 1 rank leaderboard in Driver SF at challenge, and top 5 in another challenge, but I don't see myself as a "pro" racing gamer for that, and all racing games have there own feeling so other ones are harder meanwhile other ones are easier, but in terms of all the racing games that I've played I handle them quite good, therefore I gave an 8/10 for how good I think I are. And lol how could I forget stratergy
Benjimino234
I don't think people kinda get this if I think what the question really means. Sure I like most of these genres but on 'How good are you at it?' that means something else. This can be either competitive such in online rankings and how 'good' at it in terms of difficulty you can play at, speed and understanding. How I think of it is being good at a RPG game is to be max level and know everything about it. Being good at a arcade/platformer game is being able to do ultra hard mode, speed runs or get high scores online against other people .etc Action Games I'm not really sure how to rate this because when I think of action game I think of 3rd person action adventure games. These games are primarily single player experiences like Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed and GTA or something. Sure some have multiplayer but it differs from game to game. You can't really rate yourself at skill at these games like so I guess it's about multiplayer - I do okay I guess given enough time. 5/10 FPS Games I consider myself pretty good at console FPS's, the usual 'two' Halo and Cod. I'm might not be Inheritor rank or Prestige Master but my k/d and most importantly w/l ratios are pretty good. I've done some 'competitive' play in Halo 3 when I was an honorary member of this clan and we did pretty well. 7/10 RPG I've played some but not a lot of RPG's and I haven't gotten around to playing on the hardest levels or gotten the rarest gear (though that's mostly a luck thing - like drops from bosses, random gear.) I haven't max levelled a lot of stuff beside Borderlands, so I don't play that much. 5/10 Strategy Games I haven't played much strategy and haven't been too invested in learning/playing the game. I play Dota 2 mostly as my strategy game and I've only had 16 hours or so - not enough at all to learn every strategy, hero's skills and items. I do play Awesomenauts a lot though, pretty good at that. 3/10 Racing Games I haven't played a racing game in a long time. Online though I did okay, both at arcade and realistic racers - so at average level I guess. 4/10 Fighting Games Absolutely into this genre, I've gotten much better (online and vs computer) than a few years ago just mashing. It's not all about the combos people, footies and oki game is definitely a skill to hone and will inevitably help you win. You can't hit them with that 60% life combo if you can't hit them. You gotta do your homework, study the characters, learn their moves, their frame data (what's safe and what's not), their setups and their faults. You also got to study and read your opponent, will he wake up blocking? He's using that move a lot, I should couter with this... It's about the mentality and mindgame - I feel I do pretty well. I usually play KoFXIII and SFxT but also others... 7/10 Sport Games Don't play the 'sports' games, but I do play the arcade sports games like Tony Hawk and SSX - in terms of skills though, I can't hit top scores online - I usually hit the silver or gold bracket but that's where 50% of the other competitors are at. So out of the sample group not that amazing. 4/10 Music Games Hmm, I can only play medium and some songs on hard at guitar hero and never played any other game/instrument. So probably not that good. 3/10 Platform Games I play some platformers, some if not most don't have a online competitive mode so in terms or difficulty runs and speed runs, I don't do them mostly. Just the average player. 4/10 Trophy/Achievement Hunting I sometimes go for them but I get over it... I've only gotten like 50% out of all possible achievements on my games and only fully complete two games: Lego Indiana Jones and Viva Piñata. 2/
