I rarely use cheats, and when I do, it's way after I've finished the storyline and sidemissions. It wouldn't bother me if there were no cheats at all. smile.gif

Cheats are supposed to be fun for when you've completed the storyline, or just messing about in freeroam. If you need them to complete missions, then you're rubbish at playing games. Anyway, GTA IV was the easiest one yet.

I agree to a certain extent. Some missions like 3 Leaf Clover, made me have to go and get the Health cheat out. Call me a rubbish gamer if you want to, but some people can only try a mission so many times, then its time to move on. I'm not spending a whole week just to beat one mission, bottomline. I just hope GTA V is a lot easier than IV. just my opinion, don't take it personal.

I don't take anything personal on here & I don't want you to not be able to save if you cheat. I'd rather they allowed people to cheat & continue playing the story, than for you to be stuck at a certain point forever.

Which part of the mission did you find difficult, leaving the bank or the subway station?

Subway station, took me literally 10 tries to beat that mission. On my first playthrough I used cheats, On my other playthroughs none. It was just hard to search for armor cause it was hidden in certain areas. I know if you got too close to a Swat officer, you'd get gunned down pretty quick, especially if you use Auto Aim, that's when I switched to Manual Aim ,much easier when killing enemies IMO, just one shot to the head and its over.

I just hope GTA V is a lot easier than IV.

Games these days are way too easy. I always play on the hardest difficulty available, and often that isn't even cutting it. In a game like Far Cry 3 for example, playing on Hard is still a breeze, so I tend to apply 'rules' to my gameplay that makes things more challenging - like only doing stealth kills, or not using potions. We'll probably never agree on this, but I want games to challenge me, forcing me to apply myself to accomplish the goal at hand. I don't want everything to just pan out and let me through unscathed without breaking a sweat. smile.gif

Yeah I thought it might be that part. It's because you're in such close proximity to the cops & one shotgun blast at close range can knock off half your health.

I want V to be harder than IV but allow people to cheat their way if they want to. Just not let you get achievements when you have used one in a specific mission.

When using Auto Aim, you can adjust your reticule after you lock on - you just push up a bit on the right stick and boom, headshot. I can see how you've been struggling if you just locked on and blasted away - that doesn't really work, especially not against armored foes.

I don't really care for cheats and I don't really want it to challenge me. I just want a good experience. But I would like parts not to be such a simple breeze, I would enjoy having to work my way out of a situation, a little challenge is always fun as it puts me more into the game but not when its too hard and forced me to use all my skills and is unforgiving to mistakes, I only like that on games like Halo and what not. Not when I play Rockstar games, I find them to be more of an interactive experience.

I agree, I do the same as well. Applying rules to myself is what I used to do the majority of the time on IV multiplayer.

If you want a challenge, try Far Cry 2. That game was one big pain in the ass but am proud to have finished it.

I don't see why they wouldn't let you save game with cheats active.. I mean if you want to do that, then obviously you don't really care whether you cheated or not, so why not let people just carry on with it.

Personally i never use cheats, even in free roam well after i finished the game, i just don't really see the point to it. but if other people want to use them and still finish the story then i see absolutely no reason that they shouldn't be able.

So a lack of ability means you don't deserve to play the game?

Am i the only one who CAN save with cheats in RDR?

I can also save my game in GTA IV/EFLC with cheats on with no problem.

Games are supposed to be fun. Full stop. If some people want to use cheats, why not? I know I wanted cheats for just cause 2, and there are none. Isn't it a gaming tradition to have cheats?

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.

The only time I ever have trouble with a mission in a R* game is when I don't prepare. Sometimes I'm impatient and I start a hard mission with low ammo, no armor and half health, because I think I'll grab something during the mission. In GTA I try to take my time, because it just fits that type of game IMO. It's also good to be creative. Don't always go in guns blazing.

So basically what I'm saying is I don't think you should be able to save with cheats on. The game wasn't designed that way, and R* doesn't want the headaches from gamers complaining about messed up saves because of undesired effects from saving with cheats enabled. I think cheats are just for fun, not to help you beat the game. That's what the community is for. If you can't beat a mission, you're just going at it the wrong way. Just ask for help and/or watch some online videos.

I always go in unprepared too. In fact during a typical GTA playthrough, i don't actually buy any weapons whatsoever, not through any moral opposition to doing so, it's just simply because i find i pick up more than enough through the course of missions that i don't need to buy any and can't really be bothered to drive to the gun shops.

This does sometimes leave me in a situation where i think 'oh damn i have no grenades left' but i usually find i can improvise and just get through with what i have. Most missions can be completed with a pistol, and those that can't always give you the weapon you need anyway.

But still if people want to cheat, it won't affect my game so i say let them have at it.

Yeah, this is true. I did save with cheats enabled during the III era. I stopped after I ruined a save with the 'peds attack' cheat enabled. I always get that gamer mentality of "everybody should have the same challenge!", but you're right about it not actually affecting my game. To each their own I guess. confused.gif

To be exact, GTA San Andreas is far easier when you complete it with no cheats. GTA IV sometimes glitches for me when I complete it's mission, especially in parts where you badly needed an armor when enclosed in a suicidal gunfight. But seems to me that GTA IV does have fluid mode of gameplay where Niko can be able to crouch and cover.

Ever since I have GTA IV, I never resorted to use cheats again since it does cause some unwanted side effects especially in GTA SA previously.

I rarely cheated but even if I did it was mostly infinite ammo cheat. I loved the way in GTA IV how you lose some achievements when you cheat. But this "cheat= no saving" is probably bogus and many players won't like it because cheating is traditional in the game.

Yeah sorry, that was just me being bullish, as you can see from the rest of my posts.

I don't want someone to give up on the storyline just because they can't complete a mission. I'd rather the game was difficult but allow people to cheat if they get stuck.

Personally, I think the whole point of cheats is just that; to CHEAT at the game. Disabling saving after using cheats is the stupidest thing I've ever seen in a game. But then again I think RDR only disables auto save. You should still be able to save it manually. But I hope they don't do this in V. It should be exactly like IV (but with more cheats). And I really don't care if they block trophies/achievements. I can always go back and try to get those later.

If people want to save after they've used cheats then thats their choice, but I think they should disable is auto-save whilst cheats are active. This was done in the previous games so im fine with that smile.gif

Look, just lock my f*ckin' achievements alright? Ok? I don't care about achievements anyways, I'm there to cause chaos and have fun.

But locking saving is just dumb. I'm glad that RDR got updated so that only auto save is disabled with cheats instead of all saving, but maybe let's just not disable any saving. It's not affecting anyone else anyways.

You can save with Cheats in Red Dead, it just turns off the autosave, disables trophies, marks the save file as having had cheats activated and your progress stops being tracked by the Social Club. All that is fine by me; it encouraged me to 100% the game without cheating.

It's the "achievement"/"trophy" BS that killed SP cheating. Some of us would rather have fun with cheats than earn pixelated achievements and trophies the legit way lol. I don't cheat in my first playthroughs of storylines unless they get boring.

They should and will still let us use cheats whenever we want. It's not wrong to do it, it's just for fun or gamers that don't play much and are stuck. However for ME, i always finish the game first and try to get the trophies/achievements first, then after i complete the game, i will literally use all the cheats for fun. Win win either way...

Yes, it would kinda ruin the game. I'm the kind who use cheats to finish the story to be free after. But I do the story again without cheats afterwards.

f*ck yeah I use cheat codes. I completed all GTA games with cheat codes. The only game I did give a sh*t to play without them was Vice City.

I didn't know R* disallowed the player from saving the game if he/she had used cheats in Red Dead Redemption. And now I feel R* only didn't let players save anymore because activating certain cheats may lead to certain glitches being activated. For example if you type the Peds Riot cheat on the PS2 or the Peds attack each other cheat on the PC in San Andreas before the mission "Madd Dogg" it becomes impossible to finish the game because he will jump way before you can even get into the Walton. I never use cheats anymore and like Azazel said I would not mind much if cheats are removed in general. But I say keep then in there so we have things to do after we are sick and tired of the story. Also I'm sure the cheat system in V will work the same way as it did in IV where certain achievements would be blocked if you activated certain cheats and saved the game.
