Optional 1st person camera:

Enables you to see the world in your players eyes like in many shooters and driving games and there will be buttons to let you look left, right, up and down.

Freeplay and story mode:

New freeplay mode allows you to start in a screen where you customize your characters looks i.e. height, weight, gender, hair color, hair color, clothes, ect., kid of like in the sims.

Realistic jobs:

Real jobs in both freeplay and story mode (certain jobs in story mode may be mandatory) these jobs would offer a weekly pay depending on how well you are doing, you will have a certain work place you must report to at certain times, if you go overtime you will be paid extra and if you repeatedly fail to show you can get fired, you can also own a small buisness and get paid depending how many customers you get you can hire people to be the cashier, security ect., (you have to pay them and they may slack off so you can fire them), there could be a hold up and you have 3 options:

Fight back=Shoot the guy,

Give him the money=Self explanatory,

Call the cops=75% chance you get your money back (cops may be your enemies or your allies in gta5).

Realistic crashes:

You can now die if you are in a very bad accident in several ways:

ejection,

objects entering the vehicle i.e. debris,

fire if the gas tank is damaged small chance of fire of explosion,

crushed i.e. being sandwiched between two large vehicles.

There is a possibility to be trapped in the car if you are in a bad accident so the firemen will also be of use to extract you. If your man is injured in an accident the ambulance will arrive and take the player to the nearest hospital the player will return to gameplay some time later after he is healed. The cars will have a year they were built and the newer ones will have airbags which can reduce the chance of the player being dead by about 25% they will look very realistic when they go off too!

Getting drunk/high:

The player will be able to buy liquor and get drunk which would make the screen go dark and blurry and the player will walk funny, the cops can pull you over and if you are drunk you could go to jail for 12 hours, have your car taken (which to get it back you would have to pay some cash), have your liscence taken for some time (yes you can get liscenses now), you might also pay a hefty fine of around $5000. if you get high the screen will have a funky overlay of colors. (both effects would last several hours and getting high could get you busted unlike getting drunk)

Changed health bar:

100%=full health,

Under 50%=unconsiosness,

0%=death.

(If unconsios the player will return to gameplay when he is awake)

Possibility to put many people in 1 car:

You could put many people in a car depending on the seats.

Pursuit level info:

1=Local cops

2=State cops, roadblocks

3=State cops, roadblocks, spike strips (will make the news)

4=SWAT vans, roadblocks, spike strips (will make the news)

5=FBI, roadblocks, spike strips (will make the news)

6=FBI, SWAT, National law enforcment agency N.L.E.A. (make belive), U.S. army (tanks and barraks), sniper Helicopter, land mines, (will make the news)

7=International warrant (if you evade the cops at lvl 6)

(if your busted at level 4 and above you're pretty much screwed)

I have many more ideas but I can't remember them right now i'll post them when i remember. Tell me yours!

Definitely Greenrock's alternate account.

I think it would be pretty real, as real as GTA IV was.

Okay, mandatory story 9 to 5 jobs? f*ck off. Okay? I don't mind if they're optional, because then I can avoid them. But I DO NOT play VIDEO GAMES to FLIP BURGERS!

icon14.gif Good poll, well constructed. I was so tempted to click on "Matrix Real." smile.gif And I like some of your ideas about getting injured and impaired. I always thought there should be a big health hit in a bad car crash. In RDR, I recall that sometimes when shooting the wolves, if you wounded them and they would limp. That would be realistic in GTAV. I would maybe like to see both the NPCs and the protag/player get stunned for a short time, or have impaired physical capability, after taking a bullet or two.

It would be interesting if there were different difficulty levels in the game and you could get more XP points for playing the more difficult levels. The ultra hardcore level could be that you only get to die once and lose the game if you die before finishing. And you could have a job and pay the rent, and if the in-game story is meant to last 2 years, it takes 2 real-life years to play through it. colgate.gif

I'm only JK, but actually since I do replay the GTAs for literally several years until the next one comes out, it would be possibly actually good to have a GTAV long term role play mode, with its own save game slots, so you could play a long term year or longer game and accumulate a lot of achievements and wealth.

BUT THE BENZ

^On the last bit: That is the plan and that MUST happen. R* said they wanna bring multiplayer to the next level etc...that kind of role play aspect/customization and progress will have to come in play. They should just buy megaservers and then have dem bitches rollin 24/7 - 365!

This is where I disagree, and since I have a disagreement at the very beginning of your thread, I'm going to go ahead and post about my disagreement immediately; I will read the rest of the thread after this.

First person shooters do not allow you to see through the eyes. It gives of a feeling of viewing things with...a camera in your mouth.

Just wanted to get this off my chest.

i vote none of them bcs i think that some elements in the game (like how detailed the game world is) should actually be very realistic while some other elements like traffic rules and such shouldnt be too realistic...this kind of balance would make the game really good in terms of overall realism.

Honest Bill

Matrix real is actually 'when you die in the game, you die in real life, unless of course some girl says she loves you, which will apparently bring you back despite what was said earlier in the movie for no good reason except that they couldn't be bothered to come up with a better ending'

Yup, they've said that the leap in multiplayer from IV to V is like GTA 2 to GTA 3. That is a MASSIVE leap there. MP will be a big role this time.

Yeah, true, so when I am playing a really hard mission where I might get killed, I need to have a chick in the room who will tell me I can't die, because I am really just playing in a video game and I can hack this sh*t.

To do "Matrix Real" correctly, we need to wire up the controller to 50,000 volts between the left and right hands. Then when the character dies, a real life relay kicks in, applies the voltage, and BAM, "You're TOAST!"

Here's a nice description of what it is like to be playing a game in "Matrix Real" mode.

From Count Zero by William Gibson.

IT WAS SUCH an easy thing, death. He saw that now: It just

happened. You screwed up by a fraction and there it was, some-

thing chill and odorless, ballooning out from the four stupid

corners of the room, your mother's Barrytown living room.

Sh*t, he thought, Two-a-Day'll laugh his ass off, first time

out and I pull a wilson.

The only sound in the room was the faint steady burr of his

teeth vibrating, supersonic palsy as the feedback ate into his

nervous system. He watched his frozen hand as it trembled

delicately, centimeters from the red plastic stud that could

break the connection that was killing him

    Sh*t.

He'd come home and gotten right down to it, slotted the

icebreaker he'd rented from Two-a-Day and jacked in. punch-

ing for the base he'd chosen as his first live target. Figured

that was the way to do it; you wanna do it. then do it. He'd

only had the little Ono-Sendai deck for a month, but he

already knew he wanted to be more than just some Barrytown

hotdogger. Bobby Newmark, aka Count Zero, but it was

already over. Shows never ended this way, not right at the

beginning. In a show, the cowboy hero's girl or maybe his

partner would run in, slap the trodes off, hit that little red

stud. So you'd make it, make it through.

But Bobby was alone now, his autonomic nervous system

overridden by the defenses of a database three thousand kilo-

meters from Barrytown, and he knew it. There was some

magic chemistry in that impending darkness, something that

let him glimpse the infinite desirability of that room, with its

carpet-colored carpet and curtain-colored curtains, its dingy

foam sofa-suite, the angular chrome frame supporting the

components of a six-year-old Hitachi entertainment module.

Beautiful science fiction...

Let's take a closer look at this particular quote.

(certain jobs in story mode may be mandatory)

Did NOBODY else see that crap? Seriously, he wants us to get jobs as clerks or burger flippers as part of the main story. We would have no choice. Does nobody else have a problem with that?

If I get fired from my burger-flipping job, can I come back to the place and fill the manager full of hot lead? I don't mind getting 3 stars for that kind of satisfaction. smile.gif

You realize he's not joking right? I mean, is GTA even the right series for this guy? The sims has perfectly good burger flipping jobs.

I'll bet there is gonna be at least one repo mission for Franklin...you gonna be ok with that? biggrin.gif

I see what you are saying but if R* include jobs, it'll probably be a bit like RDR. So totally optional and the RP'ers can go nuts. At least thats what I think.

OT: Matrix real was too tempting.

Repo is fine, but the kind of jobs he was talking about involved being a store clerk. I mean, no thank you.

It's fine if it's optional, but forced in any way just sucks.

Totally hear what you are saying, and yes, it would be tedious and could destroy the whole game structure to have mandatory long term jobs, other than one-shot missions or minigames.

But I did mention above, that if we want years of replay, there could be a different open-ended game mode outside of the 100% completion, that is frankly more like the Sims, with long term goals and achievements. But flipping burgers? Nah, I think not biggrin.gif But I will leave it to Rockstar to create something interesting, hopefully a bit more diverse and rich than Drug Wars, RDR bounties, poker or hunting, something we can really ramp up the progress over time (Burger Shot Manager !!! NOT). Maybe empire building could be part of it.

So basically insert business here tycoon? I'm all for options, but if too long is spent on this kind of thing then the actual elements of mayhem like fire physics, regular physics, NPC AI and so on might end up watered down and broken because of it.

I mean, you want insert business here tycoon? Buy literally any insert business here tycoon game. Hell, they even have prison and hospital tycoon games.

Better yet, try stick rpg 2. You'll have to wince past the graphics but the whole game is pretty much the free mode you described. Not that that'll stop you noticing that you're recreating the same work sleep routine you're supposed to be using your free time to get away from.

All I can say is that I hope the damn jobs, if they're there, are optional. Because if it turns out they're not and franklin ends up working as a garbage man, I will stop playing the damn story right there. It can have the greatest twists and the most epic writing on ALL of planet earth, and I would go no further because it made me be a garbage man. I am dead serious. I do not play games to be a virtual store clerk or a virtual car salesman. I play games because they are an escape from reality.

Oh but please, tell me how much more exciting The Matrix would have been if Neo declined superpowers and freedom and continued to be a lowly office worker.

GTAs have always had the realism in the way they depict the cultural environment in which they are set. Forget about that list you made there, those are just game mechanics...

And yes, GTA V will be the king of cultural realism.
