killdrivetheftvehicle
True Crime: Hong Kong was originally canned for just that reason, Activision thought that it was doomed to fail because the gaming world, which is primarily driven by Western society and culture wouldn't be able to grasp the concept of an open world game set in modern day Japan. Wow, a british guy who doesn't know Hong Kong is now a part of China, and very far from Japan.(Hong Kong used to belong to the UK, until 1997. As opposed to Japan, which even today has american soldiers basing there.) OT: I would not like a GTA set out of the industrialized countries. H.I.M.
Mars. GTA definitely shouldn't do Mars. What about the Sun? And anywhere other than earth for that matter. Oh, except XEN924-07. And Z345TG6789HNBG8905VVBB (Planet of ZoomZoom)... On topic: Greenland would be a good place, eh? Edited March 13, 2013 by H.I.M.

GTASAddict
LC - LOL! I didn't like the Liberty City based GTA series, so I agree. But seriously, I'm happy with San Andreas, Vice City & Vice City stories, so I don't care too much if another GTA is created.

Oh I knew that, but the difference is that it isn't Britain or London, it's Hong Kong. They're two entirely separate places both with thousands of years of different history and culture behind them, just because Hong Kong was owned briefly by the British doesn't denounce all of the Japanese culture that lives there. You see it's never an issue of who owns what, were that the case then I'd have said Australia would've made a brilliant place for Grand Theft Auto game to be set but it wouldn't. Firstly because I find it hard to believe that anyone would travel to Australia for any other reason then to enjoy life and get out of crime not into it, secondly because I just don't think that Australia can do anything new that can't be done elsewhere, as everything you can do in Australia you can do in Los Angeles. That's a rather basic example, I know but given the fact that even a country like say for example Sweden wouldn't suit a Grand Theft Auto game well despite its obvious similarities with the other first world countries and their cultures it just wouldn't click for me. I suppose it's all about what you're used to and I can't really see Americans, or the vast majority of them anyway, wanting to go anywhere outside the United States other then maybe Mexico, Canada or Britain.
