Fuzzknuckles
Environment based combat would be awesome, but that's just cut scene, I'm sure. I reckon it'll be much like in IV, but a little more detailed. Melee/Hand to Hand has never really impressed me in GTA, so I've never really used it. I'd probably use it more if they really overhauled it. I'd love to see unique fighting styles for each protag. Signatures are dumb anyway.

Crumplet
Yeah man, I hope the hand to hand combat is more fluent and diverse, hopefully the environment is more relevant in fights so you could throw someone over a bench or, as you mentioned, slam their head on a bar. WhitValid
I agree that stealth would be great, and it could play into combat. Surely one of these characters could know how to silently snap someone's neck? Or at least develop the skill during the game.
GTAfan786
Franklin - BoxingTrevor - Submission/Wrestling Micheal- Wing chun ? Nah not Wing Chun. He probably justs fights like normal street fighters or just the usual duck and swing style.
Braindawg
Remember in Trailer 2 Trevor runs up to somebody from behind, grabs them and bashes their face against the counter of the bar they are in? Looks like environment based combat to me!
WhitValid
Okay so if these moves were an option would it be some kind of code (like mortal combat), or a prompt when you get near somebody? Which is better?

North, north east, east, south east, south, south west, west, north west and north) and the right analouge stick is for picking body parts/areas to attack Grapple: use circle for punching, square for kicking/kneeing and triangle for an enviro takedown(worls anywhere(eg. Floor, wall, car, pole, other ped, etc.). Just as normal fighting the left analouge stick is for differnt strikes while the right stick is for picking body parts even with enviro takedowns. Dodging/blocking: after you dodge you can counter and depending at where you are aiming and what direction the left analouge stick is pointed in you will do a combo. Each one is different depending on what was dodged, which way the L stick was facing and where you were aiming. Blocking is differnt and less complex. Simple block in the direction of the attack to avoid loosing health then strike while your opponent gets ready to hit again. Downed(normal/grapple):you can attack a downed opponet similarly to as if they are standing. Aim at the body part and choose how to hit it. The same principle goses for graples exept you can pull them/carry them where ever you want to go(tap triangle to do an enviro tackedown or hold it if you want to carry or drag them.) If you press triangle while aiming at the body then you carry them if its the lims then you drag them. NOTE: all weapons have differnt moves. That's what I want as a combat system . H.I.M.
The probably should have three different fighting moves. Michael: boxing, old school Franklin: Kick boxing Trevor: Frees tyle... just punchin' and kickin' to death.

Fuckoutdawhey
I thought IV's was great. Look at other games like RDR and sleeping dogs. The fighting is so bad, it looked like Tekken or some sh*t. Although IV's was slow, it was realstic. You could duck and weave, counter, punch, kick. I just want things added. Like grappling, choking etc.

kesta195
I hope it's faster and more brutal. I know people wont agree here but I'd be happy with some merciless button bashing, just so it feels more harsh.
Somitria
Yes! Environment take downs would be sweet! Fighting in the middle of the street, open a car door, slam it into someones head. hopefully. I doubt it but hopefully.
Somitria
Or breaking limbs like while the f*ggots lying on the ground, walk up to him and slam your foot down on his knee cap. I'm not evil.
Shane_Dbns
Have u ever played def jam icon? The fighting system was like this: you could use the enviroment to damage your opponent (like hitting them into a wall) and if you got 3 or hits in a row on your opponent, you would do deliver a powerful punch or kick which would knock the opponent on the ground. Mix this with a blocking and dodging system like gta 4 and you have a simple addictive combat system.
Algonquin Assassin
Lol I actually found IV's combat to be very enjoyable. I do aswell and it's because it's not always easy to win a fight. SA made it too easy IMO. After you learned all the moves winning a fight was a piece of piss. As I've always said I'd like to see improvements so it's tightened up, but in a game where 90% of the time is using firearms it's pointless making something overly elaborate. Keep it simple IMO. toybasher
I also didn't really like IV's. Sure it seemed more realistic but felt "Clunky" and maybe even a little delayed. The punches felt a little awkward, slow and clumsy. If I pressed punch a few times It would always seem to miss, blocking did very little to oncoming attacks, and the kick seemed like a bit of a joke, very slow, and by the time the animations finished your opponent is already hitting you. If they were on the ground and you had a knife there were times where I would miss, just stabbing the ground between his legs. In the GTA 3 era you'd do a "Stomp animation" and always seemed to hit them. Hand to hand in IV also barely damaged cars, even with a baseball bat you could only put tiny dents in the bodywork, (Sometimes I'd even "Dent" the glass!) or break windows. In the gta 3 era you could completely tear apart a vehicle with just punches, unrealistic but funny to detonate cars with nothing but your bare fists. I do agree each character should have a different fighting style, and more moves in general. I'd like if hand to hand/melee did more damage to vehicles. (Vice City Stories for example had a fun combat system. You had a wide variety of moves, and it was just "Fun" to grab a cop and send him flying away with a "Super punch")
Travís.
I think we should have a choice of combat style like SA.
Honest Bill
Something that feels a little like the Warriors combat system. http://uk.gamespot.com/warriors/reviews/th...review-6136246/
