Your Dream Place to live?

BRITLAND

So most people would say they have ambition to move away from their original home to start a new life elsewhere, maybe somewhere with better weather? Do you have a dream to move? Or just to be born & die where your from

I personally live in Glasgow, Scotland right now & yes it's one of the biggest & most modern cities in the UK, it sucks for me, way too much rain & cold for me, though Glasgow is nice on ways such as the Pacific Quey at the river Clyde, not done yet but when it is it by pictures it looks like the most modern place in the UK, it's like the UK version of LA (lol)

But my dream place to live is somewhere in America, preferably warm

Cities that catch my eye are

Los Angeles - Big, Famous, Weather, Downtown & Hollywood, Awesome

Seattle - Laid back, Cool, Spaceneedle with skyline impresses me, good for outdoors eg Mountains

Miami - Awesome skyline, Lovely beaches, Warm water, Clear skies, Plam trees, The feel, Tropical storms (lol), Everything really

Atlanta - Good city feel, Perfect for anyone really

Chicago - Big city, Good Restaurants, Awesome unique skyline, Warm summers

New York - Time Square, New York no other notes needed

I'm leaning more to LA & Miami duo to weather but maybe you could temp me other wise?

Where would you like to move to town/city/country?

I've always liked that little village near Derby. It's dead quiet with no chavs and it's nice and peaceful and everything, and you can breathe the air because it's not filled with smoke from broken down 1980s riced out cars, and in the winter it's awesome because the snow is fresh as not many people walk through.

Not like those suburbs where the snow is just old slushy sh*te.

I'd love to live there. Oh wait, I do!

I heard Switzerland is one of the nicest countries, so I think I'd like to visit there and maybe move there one day.

Hmmm nice bike

I already live in one of the cities you mentioned (Chicago), so if I stay here, my dream place would be somewhere in a skyscraper condo unit with a great view of the rest of the skyline outside. If I ever leave Chicago, I'd go to either New York City and live in a similar place to where I'd live here, or San Francisco and live in a generally nice area anywhere in the city (and in a home that's preferably one of those high-tech modernist homes). San Francisco always struck me as a beautiful city, and while it's not as big as Chicago or New York, it's big enough to have that city atmosphere and (to me) it's calm enough to live headache-free.

Now if I couldn't live in a city, I'd (once again) have a modernist place close to forests and mountains or rolling hills and such. It could be anywhere, whether it's the US or somewhere in Europe (since I find a lot of countryside in Europe is beautiful, especially in Italy and northern England).

Were you to ever run for political office, I have no doubts that would probably be your election slogan.

I'd like to move back to Amsterdam. I was born there and lived there for 7 years, then I was uprooted and moved to some sh*thole of a city in the UK. The people in Amsterdam were so nice warm and friendly, albeit much taller than me. The average height of men is like 6ft 1 or something I think, whereas I'm a mere 5ft 9, but thats ok I could probably get on buses and trams as a minor. The place where I lived, which was slightly towards the outskirts, had such a nice vibe to it. Plenty of parks and greenery around, mostly young families and it was just paradise. It was close enough to the city center that shopping and access to services was easy, but far away enough that it was a relaxing and fairly slow paced life.

That's where I want to live.

Well considering I live in Scotland, anywhere f*cking warm would suffice, as you well know op.

On a side note, I like your username. icon14.gif

But NYC stands out as a place I will make damned sure I see before I go out in a hail of bullets. There's just so much to see in that place. I would have loved to have seen the view from the top of the WTC, but that's another story.

I just think back to the Jewish, Italian, and other ethnic group immigrants arriving in the city during the late 1800's/early 1900's, first seeing the Venezuelan Bridge before entering the harbour of New York City, then encountering the iconic Statue of Liberty before seeing the spectacular sight of the Brooklyn Bridge and early Lower Manhattan skyline.

Definitely a place I'd feel right at home in.

As much as i would like to live in USA and in LA or NY or LV or SF or any other cool city, i would really like to live at least for some years in a remote forrent somewhere, just in the wild. Maybe near mountains, somewhere near the Apalachian mountains maybe. WOuld be so cool. COuld also be somewhere in California, then it would be warm at least. But just living in total peace and in wildernss...just awesome. Maybe i could even see a bigfoot biggrin.gif

Yeah, my great grandparents came over on a boat from Ireland to New York City during that time frame. They have a really long wall with a list of immigrants that passed through Ellis Island and I was able to find my great-grandmother, so that was cool.

New York City is definitely a great place to start. I'd recommend going Chicago, Colorado, NoCal and Washington during your stay.

Me, I wanna live in London. Growing up in a little town has really made me want to live in a big ass city! Ideally in a nice modernist apartment too. Gotta get paid first though!

I'd love to live in London and be able to afford it. Other than there I aspire to hopefully one day live in Paris / Melbourne / Brisbane / Bordeaux / New York City / Dublin / Florence.

My dream place is some nice Mediterranean or Tropical Island with beautiful vistas considering I wouldn't need a car I would get a nice boat. And I would like to live in a nice modern house or penthouse with medium sized pool overlooking the sea/ocean. I don't want a big mansion or anything, I don't see the purpose of that. I've been to a few places I would consider settling down: Malta, Grand Cayman and Oahu. I actually have relatives and friends in all three places so that would be splendid.

As far as metropolitan areas go.. I have lived in a couple of big cities but I always found myself quickly losing touch if you will with the city and wanting to move on to the next one. Skyline view living sure is great but my dream is place is much more quiet and private.

I lived on the west coast for a while. Wasn't a fan of LA. San Diego was nice though, and I enjoyed Chicago when I lived there. If I had my pick of anywhere I think I'd live in Colorado. Somewhere near the mountains.

Or maybe Northern California/Oregon. Then again I'm from Michigan and I would live in the upper peninsula in a second if there was any work up there. Pretty much unspoiled country. I really enjoy the wilderness and actually having seasons. I'm sort of over the whole living in the city bit. Too many goddamn people. Still, I'll likely be in Detroit for the next ten or eleven years... confused.gif

I would love to have heard the stories your grandparents would've told of their experience on first arriving in the US. I always think of the scenes in The Godfather Part 2.

Chicago and Detroit are also on my list, the latter being a desire to see all the automobile industry history first hand.

Definitely Miami. It's one of the most beautiful cities in the world! If it's too expensive I'd gladly live at any one of those small beach towns along the Florida coast, the ones that have the boardwalks and fish-themed restaurants, they always remind me of the vacations I'd go on as a child.

Or maybe Atlanta, there would always be something to do, and the real countryside is only a few hours away.

I'm digging the smaller cities with big artist populations these days, Portland OR and Austin TX would probably be my top picks to live in the states. But I also really dig Philly, New Orleans, Nashville and i've heard that St.Paul's/Minneapolis is a pretty swinging town.

I've been all over Canada and I feel that the maritimes offer the best in culture and people, St. John's Newfoundland and Halifax are both super happening places.

If I were to live abroad I think i'd dig a city with a big multi-national expat community. Shanghai, Singapore, Seoul, Bangkok, Jakarta, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Ibiza and Tel Aviv are all on my list.

Veneto, Tuscany or Rome in Italy (the prior my ancestral home) or London. Other places I might consider would be cities of striking beauty such as Paris, Buenos Aires, Prague etc.

I'd love to live in a snowy, rainy miserable city - I heard Seattle weather is pretty bad. I love the rain and cold, so probably anywhere in Europe, maybe London. I'd also love to live in Tokyo, Japanese culture is so cool.
