Chunkyman
Anyone else see this? They got a kickstarter up for the project. It's basically a spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment. Link I don't know about you guys, but I'm definitely supporting this. Thoughts? Edit: Crap, typo in topic title.
Absurdity
Yeah it should be fantastic. It also marks the first kickstarter that I've participated in. I believe this pretty much makes me the new CEO of inXile. Just awaiting the phone call from the guys at the studio to discuss in what direction we take this thing. Stay tuned. Fireman
That new update got out of hand didn't it? They should've never allowed feminists to play games, Jesus Christ.
Fireman
I'm surprised at the amount of money that's thrown at the screen. I guess people who've played Planescape: Torment are now mid-twenties/thirties and got jobs to fund the new game, but the optimism about the new setting (which I know nothing about) and the support it's getting before anything is shown is still rather awkward. I'm sure it'll turn out to be a good game, but a Planescape: Torment successor developed in one year? I don't think so. Planescape: Torment had more dialogue text in it than all the LOTR books combined. You can't just write that all in a year, can you? In before it becomes an action RPG. They have a whole team of writers working on the game, as opposed to one guy writing a book. Also, the stretchgoals also include hiring even more writers. I believe it can be done, and with quality writing. Plus they have a more flexible schedule because they don't have a traditional publisher breathing down their neck. In before it becomes an action RPG. Come on now, have a little faith! I have confidence in Brian Fargo, he's very vocal about his opinion that games (particularly RPGs) have been watered down by metric-driven game design and pressure by game publishers. Here's a part of the soundtrack that has been released, it sounds wonderful.
