Rockstar saw Watch Dogs and pissed their pants?

WD will be confined to city landscape while on the other hand GTA V has a lot of scenic and diverse landscape. WD is a good game; new gen, different approach in gameplay but gta v is a giant true sandbox game. I will buy both games, only if WD is not a scripted sh!t. I guess WD will piss in their pants once gta v get released lol.

I don't see Watch Dogs being delayed because the developers want to make the best game of all time... just pump it out, right after Assassins Creed 16.... yeah nuh thanks. I much respect what R* are trying to do. I do feel like the delay crushed all the magic of it, but I'm sure the end product will be better than anybody at Ubertryhards can imagine.

That's the difference. Ubijoking always meet release dates, because they are more than happy to sell us an unfinished product. They can't delay a lot of their games, because the sequel has to be out in 12 months or less.

Basically, the modern gamer doesn't care about a quality product. They are consumers & that's what they do 'consume'. I'm simply amazed how little people expect these days.

Who cares? Rockstar will make money regardless. Slap Grand Theft Auto on something, it'll sell thousands.

People need to realise that watch dogs could be a threat in my opinion too many people on R* dick

Watch Dogs is GTA killer, rockstar is going to bankrupt this year.

I Wouldn't say a GTA Killer its just something that could be a threat to GTA V

Why not? Watch Dogs is better and is going to sell more than GTA V, btw Rockstar should rename ''its new game'', GTA V should be called GTA 4.5. Anyways, GTA is already dead.

Well thats your opinion wink.gif

It's not his opinion, it's the truth, we don't need another GTA for the fifth time.

Im saying its his opinion because others may disagree im gonna buy both games anyway

Wouldn't want glitches like in IV would we?

OK I'm a bit confused. I really don't see what was wrong with GTA IV and the glitches were deliberate from what I can gather, how is walking inside a airport building bad. Also flying under the map, again I don't really see that as a problem only fun. By the way I'm kinda glad GTA V has been delayed because I know it won't end up like Black ops 2. Only downside is the release is 6 days before my Birthday and I want it ASAP so I'm still thinking should I wait and get a free game for my 16th or take the plunge and get something else like an ipad. Thanks rockstar leaving me with all the decisions LOL biggrin.gif

New Watch_Dogs interview that answers a lot of questions and gives very exciting information http://electronictheatre.co.uk/pc/pc-news/...ogs-qa-revealed

Read if you are interested (After all, this is a Watch_Dogs thread on the wrong sub-forum)

I personally think Rockstar have some competition on their hands. We get to see more of Watch_Dogs at PAX East this month. I wonder if Rockstar will be there too....

Honest Bill

So if i have this straight; You think they were so scared of competition from Watchdogs, that they decided to delay the release date of GTA to a date much closer to it?

Why would they do that?

Lmfao at the thread title. I mean...I know everything has to be over the top these days or it gets ignored but...really? biggrin.gif

As for WD I'm still not feeling it, despite how much info has been released. Doesn't look all that free from my perspective. I don't think R* have their eye on this game at all.

Why would they?

Yeah, but it's fun to have a fanwar to determine decisively which game is better, based on a couple of trailers for each. I'm sure we will be able to come to a conclusion. sarcasm.gif

ChocoFrosty

Why would R* piss their pants if they saw Watch Dogs running on NEXT GEN hardware?

As far as we know, R* have only been developing GTA V for CURRENT GEN.

Yes, I realize Watch Dogs will be on current gen as well, but GTA V will not have a hard time being better than current gen Watch Dogs.

I am definitely looking forward to it. Sounds like it's going to be very dynamic which is something i feel is extremely undervalued in the games industry. I hope it's as free as they make it sound

Watch Dogs looks amazing, but it won't stack up to GTA V.

People said Saints Row could take down GTA and that failed, don't count on Watch dogs to do it

I don't really think it's the same genre to be compared like that. Sure they're both contemporary, open world, but that's as far as the similarities go in my opinion.

Welcome to the Grand Theft Auto V section of GTAForums. Please leave your common sense at the door before posting.

GTA V and Watch Dogs will be heavily compared this year I have no doubt about it. But when it comes to full shock and awe value, GTA V wins in that regard and R* knows it. Watch Dogs will sell well, but nowhere near the amount of GTA V. For now, we need to wait and see what GTA V will give us. As of right now most of what GTA V will be is still under wraps. As for the whole delay "polish" thing I don't know why some of you never expected it. R* is horrible with giving a release date for a game. At least they didn't say "Oh March 25, 2013 GTA V releasing worldwide!" back when they said Spring 2013 then delay it sometime in the future. Lastly, just because they delayed it doesn't mean the game will be more polished than what it would've been if it actually released this Spring. Maybe they're adding more stuff to the game and polishing along the way? Who the f*ck knows. And yes Dan Houser pissed his pants when he saw the PS4 gameplay of Watch Dogs, which probably won't look anything like the PS3 or 360's version (sarcasm).

Gotta disagree with you there. In my opinion the setting can only have so much of an effect on an open world game. Sure GTAV is set in SoCal which is a great choice (born and raised) but its going to come down to what we can do in the world they've created.

I don't see much exciting to do in WD.

Can't say the same about anything I've seen from V.

Sure, some may say that all you do is steal, drive and shoot in GTA (and they'd be partly right) but what matters most is the execution of those things and making them feel fun. I'm just not getting that same vibe from WD.

Genre isn't simply a question of setting though, you have to take tone, style, theme, and everything else which combines to contribute to 'genre'

And to be fair, we have seen very little of either game, at least not enough to make a qualified judgement. There could well be lots of things to do in WD that you don't know about, and as far as driving and shooting mechanics etc we really haven't seen any of that from GTA and only a miniscule amount from WD.. so a little presumptuous to say that either is more fun than the other just yet.

Unless of course you just don't like the WD theme and tone etc, in which case that's fair enough and is of course a perfectly valid opinion.

I tend to think of open world games as having very solid foundations in how many different ways the player can interact with the world created. I think this is why the two games are being compared here.

I feel though, that comparing the two is a disservice to both games, and I think I see why they are compared. GTA is a known open world game, and WD is showing some similar qualities. Thats about all they have in common but people keep bringing this game up...why?

It's about execution and imo WD looks stilted and wooden. And GTA, to me ,has been anything but that, even after all these years.

I have lower expectations for V than your average poster here, but I still know the game is going to be stuck in my console tray for months and years to come. cool.gif

We can all agree that Watch Dogs will likely be better than GTA V ... and GO!  devil.gif

rockstar is going to bankrupt, noone is gonna buy GTA V, everyone loved Watch Dogs and f*ck GTA now. WatchDogs4life

Look all the gaming web sites, everybody is Watch Dogs > GTA V. Surely Rockstar is going to bankrupt, GTA is dead.

Are you two lost? Did the Watch Dogs forum have a catastrophic server fail or something?

Liberty City in GTA IV is still the most detailed and most realistic city I've ever seen in any video game. Boot up the game and just look around at the buildings. At the architecture. The amount of work that just goes into their environments is unreal and doesn't compare to other games in my opinion.

Taking this into account, I can only imagine what Los Santos is going to offer us.

It's still being developed for current gen and IMO it looks like the offspring of Assassin's Creed and Deus Ex if those two games made a love child.

The concept really isn't that fresh. Thinking about it that puts it even further away from GTA V on the open world scale. Sleeping Dogs will probably have more in common with GTA V.

Am I the only one who feels the only thing Watch Dogs shares is the open world? The more I see of it the more it seems like a modern Assassin's Creed with Deus Ex's hacking and focus on conspiracy, espionage and whatnot.

Still doesn't give a "do whatever you want" feeling that ultimately I think will lose out to GTA V which is going to be more universal.

Yea, as much as it feels fresh I think it will become just as repetitive and monotonous as AC.

I'm sure it will be good, but no GTA slayer

If someone's attention span is short enough they won't play a game long enough to know.

That's because most game companies don't give a f*ck what you do with the disk after they have your money.

People don't seem to think about that though, they want the next game marketed to them ASAP so they can forget all about the last piece of sh*t they wasted 60 bucks on.

Why the disparity between the way Ubisoft treats their franchises? Four years between Far Cry 2 & 3 and just look at the advancements made in that time. There's no way FC3 would've been as good if there had been two sequels in between (like AC's Brotherhood & Revelations).

I'm very excited for both games. More excited for GTA V though, because of its predecessors and because I know nothing about it, I can only imagine how good it will be. I can't help but feel with Ubisoft that they have showed every unique aspect that Watch Dog's has to offer, and when playing, we won't discover anything we haven't already seen.

As for Rockstar being scared, I don't think so. Quite frankly everyone here knows the volume of Grand Theft Auto and everything a new game involves, Rockstar more than anyone. Watch Dogs releases after GTA V, everyone will be playing open world around that time, so I think they can bounce off each other quite nicely. Competition doesn't come into it really.
