GTASAddict
I'm curious: on PS3, can you takeover Azteca, Rifa, Triad or etc gang territories/hoods?
lil weasel
I'm curious: on PS3, can you takeover Azteca, Rifa, Triad or etc gang territories/hoods? So far as anyone with the PS3 game has said the Game is the PS2 game ported to the PS3, no changes. I would certainly like to know if there are any? Are the save slots still 8 or did they change them?
FAH-Q
I'm playing it as well. Brings back memories. I'm pretty rusty, I think I tried "Wrong Side of the Tracks" like 15 times. "All you had to do was follow the damn train, CJ!" is stuck in my head. @lil_weasel still 8.
AuSsIeThUnDeR36
Technically, I'm not. Still got it on my trusty Ps2
Rewas
I want to buy it though, but I don't have a credit card that accepts payment online yet. I'd really buy it. I need PS3 games. I know for a fact that the game is faster, since it's PS2 version on PS3. They should have improved CO-OP gameplay though.

Guest
I'm gonna buy this later today for PS3, but I've not played since like 2007 so I'll have no clue what to do, so a few questions. Is it much more hard than GTA IV? Can I play the game on a smooth playthrough and not have to die loads of times and break character? Any tips for basic shooting strategies? I think SA is much clunkier than IV, and you deal less damage but take more yourself.
lil weasel
Can I play the game on a smooth playthrough and not have to die loads of times and break character? Any tips for basic shooting strategies? I think SA is much clunkier than IV, and you deal less damage but take more yourself. The ability to Die is easy. This game requires no great skill but does require thinking, as to what you have, what you can get (EXPLORE), what tips you can pickup. If you want to take a 9mm pistol into a gun battle you're dead. Some weapons are 'cute' some are effective. 'Cute': Sawn-off shotgun (actually any shotgun), is ok in single combat. But will kill CJ in mass confrontations. Best are the Desert Eagle (one shot-one kill) after just a little skill is aquired. The M4 Rifle has longer range and more ammo than the AK47. Molotov cocktails (after CJ is fireproff), and a missile launcher are the prime weapons. All four are available in Los Santos from the start of the game if you look for them. Body armour is also FREE and readily available. If you Explore you won't have to buy a single weapon/ammo. Save the money to buy Property. There are a few missions where it is best if CJ doesn't shoot at all. The game suggests vehicles and weapons where it might be better to use others. With Eight save slots you can experiment. Most of that was the basic stuff I've known for a while, I completed the game before you know. Thanks for the help though.
ChocoFrosty
I want to buy this, but can anyone tell/show me how the game actually looks and performs on PS3? It's really hard to find any detailed information about this. How is the game displayed by default? Is it standard (4:3), stretched to be widescreen (16:9), has it been enhanced to an un-stretched widescreen, or is it some other format? (I only ask, because I heard the Xbox 360 version was enhanced to be naturally widescreen and the draw distance was increased slightly.)

The PS3 version seems to be 30FPS at average, and can get up to 45FPS in certain areas, it looks like the PS2 version, the lighting is better than the PC version IMO (The sun effects, light effects and color filter look amazing on PS3/2). The game is displayed at standard default, you can make it widescreen, just press the Sony button on your PS3 controller, click display and change it to widescreen. So when the display is switched to widescreen, it's just stretched? I was hoping R* had included an actual widescreen view. Why does Xbox get to have all the perks. AuSsIeThUnDeR36
It's hard to believe Rockstar didn't enhance the Ps3 edition just a bit, you know. Get it looking just a bit nicer. You can't mess with the classics I guess.

You can't mess with the classics I guess. I believe that the idea was to pick-up some extra Ca$h while the game is still playable on the current machines. Even minor changes to the programming could result in unforseen problems, thus incurring expenses to 'fix' updates to it. What with the new PS4 (and the Windows 8 likely to) being unable to play the past releases our gaming is threatened to be more expensive.
