Yeah, I might say that I play it few times a week.. Doing missions ad free-roaming all the corners of Liberty City.

On your ratings: 8.

On more accurate ratings, 9.5 out of 10. It was a superb game.

Going by the poll options, I'd say a 7, although it might be a 8 atm, cause I've been playing it alot lately tounge.gif

on a /10 scale, it's definitely a 10/10 for more, there's no other game that I've played more over the years then GTA IV, although RDR is close.

I'd give it a 7/10 based on your poll descriptions.

Overall, great and fun game.

Using your poll options, 7

On a /10 scale, 8.8

This. Although, like a softy teacher, I give IV the extra points for an even 9.0/10, or A-. V will hopefully be 10/10, A+ material.

7 on the poll but I think this game is a 9/10, and always will be a classic for me but not good enough for the best classic GTA's of the III era

I dunno, maybe 7 out of 10. Im judging it in light of the rest of the series. Some people give it a 9/10 and 10/10 and Ive heard people say GTA 4 was the best GTA. But truth be told, 9/10 and 10/10 should go to GTA San Andreas because GTA SA is the ultimate sandbox game in terms of gameplay, features, replayablity, fun factor etc. Therefore I cant put GTA 4 in the realm of 8.5-10. The only reason why some people cant admit that GTA SA was the greatest is because of racial bias, the main character being black, and the game revolve around black street gangs. I always thought that if CJ were white and Grove Street was the Italian Mafia instead, you wouldnt find SINGLE SOUL on earth saying saying GTA 4 is the best GTA. Then you have Vice City which some like more than GTA 4 too. Some fans would say that GTA 4 wasnt even the SECOND best GTA and that it'd finish behind BOTH San Andreas and VC.

^^^

Fans of IV tend to prefer it over SA because of the story, game mechanics, and physics. Maybe some GTA fans were turned off by SA's focus on street gangs, or Carl's race, but I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that they are the exception, not the rule. And no, SA is not "the ultimate sandbox game in terms of gameplay, features, replayablity, fun factor." Don't be so short sighted--GTA has plenty of room for growth. Just wait till V drops.

i agree with both. gta 4 would get an 8 for man and san andreas just a shade under. they were both brilliant games. gta sa was great and so was 4 but with the leap from the old engine to the new one did make the physics of the game better. with better physics and stories we expext more from the next.

san andreas was an amazing game from just the wide varity of what you could do and the size of the map

i remember when i first seen the trailer for gta 4 and i kept right up to date with everything before the game came out. but i dont remember reading alot about the physics and i was like wtf when u needed to hold x or a to run. but i quickly got use to it.

but then i crashed a car and seen a dent in my car in the shape of what i hit. the fact that the whole bumper didnt get destroyed when i tapped a coreder of my car i was shocked and didnt really put the controller down since.

gta v will be no doubt outstanding and i expect so much from it amd i know rockstar wont dissapoint

For the story, I'd give 10. For gameplay, I'd give 8.

One day I was cruising around Algonquin, thinking to myself as to why virtually every game critc rated this game 10/10 when it was released in 2008. At first I thought It absurd, or some kind of mass bitch assness or asskissing. Gamesapot, IGN and others gave this game 10 points while previous GTA titles had been given 9 points. I wondered why...

By gameplay GTAIV is nothing special. All the pre-release trailers and screenshots made the game appear better than it really is. I expected more from GTAIV.

Then, at some point I realized why perhaps this game was given max points by so many. Perhaps because of all the dedication and effort poured into this game.

To me it'll be 9/10 IMO. I can't go way to the top since V might supercede that.

When times of playing, I'll go with 7.

I'll say 8/10. I play GTA IV everyday, but I also play Gran Turismo and Need for Speed from time to time.

Hi!

Based on your descriptions in the poll, I gave it an 8 because that's what I'm doing now.

But I give it 9.5 in overall ratings! Not the best game ever, but definitely in my top 3!!! GTA V however.... Early predictions: 1000000000 out of 10 biggrin.gif

I think I'm going to prefer IV over V, to be quite honest with you. I just never liked the glitzy setting of a bright sunny LA. I'm into the rough, gritty, grim tye of dark, foggy feel of Liberty. Can't imagine liking anyone better then Niko. Niko is easily the best character I've ever seen. It's changed me, tbh. Find the game poetic, coherent and an absolute thrill ride. Gotta give it a 10.

I feel the same. I like gritty and foggy NYC to sunny LA. Actually I prefer the whole East Coast vibe in general which is which I like The Departed, American Gangster, Donnie Brasco, The Godfather etc.

I do like some LA based crime movies such as Drive and Training Day, but I like that East Coast vibe in game/movies.

GTA V looks great, but I have a feeling it wont beat GTA IV in terms of atmosphere. Starting a new save of GTA IV makes you feel like a fresh, off the boat immigrant everytime.

It's an amazing feel to start a new game in IV. You feel as if everything is new, and that you can guide Niko's path to whatever you want it to be.Plus, Niko isn't the true shining star in IV, Liberty City is. On each new playthrough I start, I always find something new and fun.
