Sgt. Foley
Hey, How cool would it be to have a buddy list and then when one of your buddie's are on you can send a chat invite. Then they can accept it and instead of sending PM's back and forth you can just chat in a little box on the bottom right
Ryan
This isn't Facebook. We don't need a chat system on the forums when the PM system and IRC already exist.
Andreas
I don't think that it would be really useful to have some sort of chat on the forums. Just use the PM system, it's there for a reason. If you want a live chat that you would join with your forum buddies and it's GTA related then you can use IRC. Go there, then choose "GTANET [webirc]" to connect with the GTANet server, then type in the Nickname you want to use, and then choose a channel. You have to type in the name of the channel by yourself so if you want to talk about GTA V then you have to write "#gta5" (without quotes) and of course, you can choose any channel you want provided you know what the name of the servers, you want to join, exactly is. You can search for the channels by yourself and you my use this topic for more informations. Adriaan
Hey thanks for the feedback. Firstly, we do have an already existing buddy system on the current forum. In your User CP, you can add someone under "PM Buddies". Then, whenever you want to send someone a message ("Compose new Message"), this person will be available in the drop-down "Address Book" list. As for PMs, we understand the nature of how it works is a bit dated, and are working towards improvements on that with threaded private messages. Think of Gmail or other modern day emailing software. That said, given the limits on storage, it shouldn't be treated as a chat room. We do have a chat room, as linked at the top of the GTAV section. On there, you can organize to meet up with other members (either in chat rooms, or privately), if you do want to chat.
