Blaherman Posted March 6, 2013 Share Posted March 6, 2013 they would hardly lose any money in the grand scheme, why you ask? that's because there will be a rush of people lining up on console release day and if they see that grand theft auto v is on next gen they will buy it because it's one of the titles availible for launch and everyone loves gta except for church groups and senators. Mr.Moffat Posted March 6, 2013 Share Posted March 6, 2013 thing is though, while it COULD possibly be released for both gens, the thing that really puts doubt in my mind is that R* is not that kind of company. this gen lots of publishers re-released HD ports for there games, yet R* who prob could have made a nice little profit with HD versions of GTA III, VC & SA, they did'nt, so that is my main concern for it not happening. ANother thing IF it does come out, it will be a mere port, I hope to god people are'nt expecting a Next gen version to take full advantage of the hardware. You'll have to wait for gtaVI for that. Final note, again rememeber it's R* if they are planning on releasing a next gen port, they will not announce it untill well after the current gen version is released. my 2 cents anyway, i'll be buying V in September and be enjoying, i'll buy a ps4 sometime next year, prob during the summer 2014, and IF a next gen port is announced, then i'll pick it up. Sure everyone is craving for PS4 even me, but let's say that not everyone wants yet to buy another console as they don't want to spend a whole money on a console wherein games available for it are yet to be released or available. It's a big possibility they would make a profit out of that, but would that profit be large enough to justify the opportunity cost of working on a V port in contrast with working on, let's say, Red Dead 3? Probably not. Imagine you're a big corporation. You have a team of damn talented people; would you rather have them do a job that will get you $5,000,000 in profit or a job that will get you $50,000,000 in profit? Remember, time is money. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, stated that he is sceptical about the release of core-titles on the Wii U, which includes GTA V, and it's not likely that this would change anytime soon. (if there is a Wii U version, it will probably look a little better than the PC with Max settings, the PS4, and the next Xbox.) So you are saying that if there is a Wii U version of GTA V, which is not going to happen for the reason I mentioned above, it would probably look better than the PC version on maxed out settings, and better than the PS4 and NextBox version if there will be ever a next-gen 'port'? In case you don't know, the Wii U has basically the same performance as the current Sony and Microsoft consoles, just with four times more RAM and probably a slightly better GPU but that's it. The Wii U has absolutely no chance against the next-generations consoles or a High-End PC. GTA IV and L.A. Noire were ports as well as the Rockstar titles that were released before these two games, but Max Payne 3 was well-optimized and not a port so I think it's possible that GTA V isn't a port either. I don't think it's the reason for the delay, but I can totally see rockstar re-releasing the game on nextgen consoles within 6 months to a year from the original release. What's worse is that I can see them announcing it well after people already buy it for the current-gen, which means a lot of hardcore fans would want the next-gen experience and buy it twice. PS4 will sell out at launch, GTA V being available at launch would only further that. There's a thread in here somewhere in which half the people say they'd buy ps3 & ps4 copies.
