VATG Posted March 4, 2013 Share Posted March 4, 2013 im not saying this is the reason the game was delayed but this is the reason the game was delayed... now all jokes aside if you think that r* is just gonna give up on that ps4 and xbox720 money so you're delusional, in fact some part from trailer2 (that highway scene) looked too smooth and good to be running on current gen, i could be wrong of course but don't be surprised if thats the deal, ubisoft did the same thing with "Watch_Dogs"... could be just a cut scene. or not. GTA V September 2013 3-4 months later... PS4 December 2013 XBOX720 TBA its more then obvious that eventually the game will be released on the PC, PS4 and the new XBOX and gonna run and look better in the new consoles then it is on the current gen, and thats the bad part (only for now) because that means we gonna have to wait even longer to get the best possible experience of the game. In a half year to a year or in 7-8 years? That is the question and again; PlayStation 4 will release in Christmas time and the new Microsoft console will very likely release around the same time but nobody will own these consoles and that won't be much different for at least the next couple of years or so. That means in other words that it wouldn't hurt the profit of Rockstar, at least not in a significant way. I do not think it is out of the realm of possibilities, I mean obviously Sony has already released the developer kits for the Playstation 4 some time ago. So it may very well be possible that they are developing the game for the console, once they have the game ready on the playstation 3 platform how hard would it really be for them to clone and improve it for the PS4? Even if it was a cross generation game, I would expect it to be released on PS3 & Xbox first, PC second & then next gen (probably ported from PC) when enough people own a PS4/Xbox Django for it to be economically viable. Why would they delay the game waiting for the next consoles to come, when they could be making loads of money during that period. The Take Two CEO mentioned a cross-platform release is 'unlikely', and Dan Houser has said they are using hardware they are most familiar with and can use to its maximum ability, which is the PS3 and the Xbox 360. It should be more than obvious that Rockstar is currently developing a title or even multiple titles for the next-gen consoles but that really does not have to mean that they are developing GTA V for these consoles. Keep in mind that there is still Agent, a PlayStation 3 exclusive Rockstar title that was announced in July 2007 which was planned to release in 2010 but the release never happened and some rumours (that are likely true) since then state that the game is a PS4-exclusive title now. Sure, it's possible. Anything is possible. My only question for people who are so damn sure is, what are they basing this off of? Because Ubisoft is doing it for Watch Dogs? What does that have anything to do with R*? When has R* ever followed the trend of another developer? This is R*'s pride and joy, their biggest game to date. Yeah, that is correct, even Game Informer confirmed it that the demo was from PS3. As you might know, Rockstar usually showed the demos of their games on Xbox 360 because that platform was the lead-platform of their past games. Max Payne 3 was an exception since it was seperatly developed for each platform but the demo of that game was nevertheless on Xbox 360 and so were the trailers of this game and the games before except L.A. Noire which was a Team Bondi project that was supposed to be a PS3-exclusive title until a few years ago. The reason for that is obvious; Rockstar is a videogame developer and as such they want to show their product from the best side. I don't think that the demo of GTA V was shown on the Sony console because it looks better there but I think the reason is that Rockstar finally managed it to 'close the gap' between both console versions. In other words; I think that both versions of the game look so similar to each other that the difference is barely noticeable, the difference is probably even harder to notice than it was in Max Payne 3. Setting this up as a launch window title for next-gen would be a huge mistake. Many people wait a year or two before buying a new console, so they'd be losing a lot of potential sales. I'm not ruling out a next-gen port a few years down the road, but I honestly don't see it happening. It's early March 2013, next-generations consoles release in Christmas time and GTA V will release in September - topics regarding GTA V on next-gen systems will constantly appear in the next months. Rockstar will very likely stay quiet about the game until the end of spring or early summer so we have nothing new to discuss until then and that's the reason why that is one of the most important topics for the next months.
