gcarl1983
I've played through what seems like a decent number of missions, and now the game decides to crash. It freezes up during the Francis McReary mission "Lure" after I get in the vehicle with the rifle in it and am on my way to the destination point. It freezes during the Gerry McReary mission "I Need Your Clothes, Your Boots, and Your Motorcycle" after I've gotten on the bike and driven to the meeting place - I get the perpetual loading screen. And it also freezes on the Ray Boccino mission "Museum Piece" when I'm on my way to meet up with Johnny. It took me weeks to install the game, but once I got it installed, it has run like a charm, until now. My system specs are well above what is recommended. I have Windows 7. Everything that needs to be installed or patched already has been. I don't want to reinstall the game, or Windows, or download any third party programs, or mess with my system registry, or any of that crap. Is there a simple way to make this ridiculously frustrating game run without any hiccups? Judging by the degree of bugs, glitches, and other BS that PC users have had to deal with over this game, I'd argue that Rockstar owes everyone who can show proof of purchase of a legitimate copy of the PC version, a free copy of GTA V when it comes out. Anyway, is there anything I can do, short of uninstalling, reinstalling, and hoping for the best?
maddjoe
Does it show an error massage?
Miro
Hmm, where do you have the game from? Are you using any mods? Do you play with the original DVD in your Drive? What I could suggest you would be to try to remove your game settings. Have you done anything lately to the game? You should try as well to un-install and re-install it, could do the trick. Hopefully. Dead (Retired)
gcarl1983
It will either give me the endless "Loading..." screen, or it will freeze and a window will pop up, saying "GTAIV.exe is not responding." If I reinstall, will it keep my savegame files?
Miro
Yes it will, obviously. However, make a back-up of them and save them elsewhere, just in case something goes wrong. But please do answer my other questions as well, might help you a little more if I know more about the game itself. Besides, make also sure that VSync is OFF in the game options. gcarl1983
I run the game with the disc in the drive. I bought the PC-DVD version off Amazon. No mods, no cracks, nothing like that. While in those missions, even if I press escape to bring the map up, it will just give me a black screen. I've done nothing lately to the game. I've done nothing to the game other than install it and the latest patch
