Honestly, they are probably just fixing glitches and adding small details/taking away small things. I mean yes I know its been in production since 2008, but with a map as big as they say it is, it's a surprise they can run it without the game crashing.

We don't know how long it's been in production.

I've said it before but I will say it again. I think Rockstar pushed GTAV all the way back to September because that is about as far back as they can go before the next generation of consoles completely takes over the gaming world. I don't think Rockstar will need up until September to "polish" GTAV, but instead of saying (just a guess) June or July and possibly risking another delay, they went as far back as they could to still be able to get great sales.

I know that GTA is GTA and no matter what a new GTA game will sell well, but if I'm Rockstar, or even Take2 Interactive, I'm not going to test the consumers to see what they will choose: GTAV or next gen consoles.

They only psuhed it back by 4 months. What i don't understand is that people complain when companies push out a half assed game yet rockstar take there time and release a complete game but still whinge like a spoiled toddler.

The hurricane has nothing to do with it, it hit the east coast in the USA while the game is being developed over at R* North

I think the main complaints back on January 31 were because they gave a release date that completely negated the Spring 2013 release window that had stood for months and was given when everyone was sure that they were not going to delay it because they had waited such a long time to give a release date/window in the first place.

Like we hadn't have numerous people making similar topics before.. Oh well.

The date is so far away because the game got delayed because it needed polishing.

When you've spent 5 odd years creating a game, you want to release it as perfect as is humanly possible.

No, it started in the Carribbean, but moved north up the East Coast and wreaked havoc on New York.

why do you think gta 5 release date is so far away?

It's simple really:

1. Mis-managment.

2. Incompetence.

3. Disorganisation.

I mean, they sent out spring posters and everything, then shortly, and I mean shortly after, change the release date to late fall on the day that boxart was to be released!!! What does that tell you?? Refer to 1. 2. 3. for the answer.

When they initially said "Spring" I figured that meant that they were pretty close. When they moved it another 4 months away, I figured it meant that they found something really, really broken. The fact that they missed a 3 month window makes me question how they could possibly give us an exact date so far into the future.

lol @ fixing glitches.

Yeah, loose a billion dollars in sales for something that could be fixed with a patch.

The game is FUBAR.

They are working dam hard to get it running.

The GTA:V release is only 318.2 million miles away. I think it is just as Rockstar say: they weren't comfortable meeting the original release and so wanted an extra 198 million miles in which to make sure they could finish it the way they want it.

Yeah R* have been working this game for a long time, perhaps a time that is a bit too long IMO, they need to fix their development processes and become more efficient, but yeah with the time spent I doubt they are going to allow it to become a flop like Duke Nukem Forever.

Because they don't want to release a game in the summer, when a lot of people are on holiday. I guess they don't need the whole time until September, but releasing a game (or film, or music album for that matter) in June/July/August isn't the best thing to do when you want big sales right after release.

People will say: but GTAV will sell anyway, and especially when people get back from their holiday. Yes, but my guess is that R* and TT want the sales of the game to gain momentum, that it will hit the news that it's the best selling game in its first day/week/month (so, extra exposure), and frankly, that isn't going to happen when GTAV will be released in a month when a big chunck of the target group won't (be able to) buy the game right when it's released.

So, thay moved it back after the summer. I mean, they mention specifically 17 September. So they KNOW that it will be finished some time before that.

Aw, you beat me to it. I was sure that the reason the GTAV release date is so far away is that Rockstar is working hard to create new Max Payne 3 DLC, so they can really cash in on the long tail of sales of that wildly successful game.

Because that is when Dev Team B said they would be finished with the "Hot Coffee V" minigame. colgate.gif

I wish more developers were run like that then. We might get less games that are riddled with bugs & glitches, cost £40 for a 6 hour long single player campaign, have day one dlc & microtransactions and zero replayability.

Oh I forgot, most modern gamers love being bent over their gaming system & shafted by company men that have never even played a video game.

There is only one answer. As realistic steak as possible, of course.

Only joking, Rockstar want to make GTA V one of the greatest games of this generation, so a September release is justified.
