greenrock
similar to Kane and Lynch this is not my words, i got this from somewhre else but one user said this "Two of the protagonists are both middle-aged criminals. One is a drug-addled psychotic loose-cannon who relishes in violence and the other is a "retired" heist-man with problems relating to his teenage daughter and an estranged wife. Where have I seen this before......?"

baguvix_wanrltw
It's called "stereotypes". Unless R* does it, then it's a "bold new direction" and basically just genius. Still, who am I to complain. I pretty much asked for Goodfellas 2 (Michael). I'd very much appreciate more character variety via DLC or something though.

Those are pretty basic archetypes in the crime fiction genre.
phexitol
If I have my wish, we'll be able to change their hairstyles, and my Michael & Trevor will look like Kane & Lynch.
baguvix_wanrltw
"Archetype" fits of course but since it means nothing else in this context than "person who behaves stereotypically" and expressions like "(s)he is a total stereotype" are often used I very much doubt I can't use it. Also since the word "type" comes from lat. "typus", which means "character, figure, form, model" I very much think using "stereotype" to refer to a person makes a lot of sense, don't you? AtomicPunk
God, lets hope they're nothing like that abomination Kane & Lynch. That was the worst game ever released on the public. The screenshots were photoshopped and many other devious methods used to try and make this crappy game look better. That was the first and last game that I ever took back to a Gamestop and made them let me exchange it for another game, not kidding. They weren't ripping me off 60 bucks for a broken game with PS2 graphics. I find it insulting to ever mention K & L in the same sentence with GTA. K & L = worst B.S. rip-off game ever sprung on the public and wasn't worth $9.99 at a thrift shop. I seriously doubt that R* would have to steal ideas from that inferior game maker. Sorry, it's just coincidence, nothing more. Many stories, movies, etc., have similar plots, but have nothing to do with each other and no inspiration from one or the other exists. Kane and Lynch worst rip-off game ever made
Dick Justice
They're similar, though it's less coincidental than some people have stated. Both GTA V and Kane and Lynch drew an obvious amount of inspiration from the film Heat. Michael and Kane are both based off Neil McCauley, while Trevor and Lynch are based off of Waingro. They're similar because they were inspired by the same thing.
