I think GTA V has been delayed after Rockstar witnessed the fans dedication for wanting a PC version in release day.With the news of the PS4 I think GTA V will most definitely be a launch title. I also believe the point of showing the game demo those months ago was to get an idea of what people want. People freaked out with the lack of property and assets, and really what is a better way to get the almighty dollar than through property,maybe even a reference to Avery, giving you an intro to buying and developing properties? They're not going to spend ages doing work on PS3/360 versions to just cut all that and have a port for the new consoles which is a HUGE waste of money, and if they had the PS3 AND PS4 versions, with PS4 as launch title, that would be pointless as most would just buy for the console they already have, and the few they'd have got from PS4 sales would have been from PS3 sales anyway. Sony did say that PS4 reveal that they will be making games available across both platforms and with a game like GTA4 people will want it ASAP and then they'll want it for their new console when they get it so improbably wouldn't be a waste of money. Gtaforums is not an enjoyable forum to enter ATM. This is the only place I see with chatter about GTA V ( for obvious reason ) which keeps the game alive, If this site wasn't bustling there wouldn't really be any chatter about GTA V and it would probably be forgotten about by the masses par the die hard fans, IMO I am a fan of the series but GTA V marketing truly is dissmal! Hopefully there will be some thing new to keep everyone talking, To generate the hype again and keep the hype there until September. There is a great topic I seen the other day " post a screen a day " until GTA V releases, Mapping Los Santos is also another Great topic to follow. If Rockstar has a contract with Microsoft and/or Sony to release GTA V for next-generations consoles which would mean that GTA V would be a cross-generation game, then Rockstar would obviously release the game for both console-generations because the user base on the current systems is at the highest point of the whole generation and GTA V could boost the sales of the new consoles. Even if I think about all this, I still doubt that GTA V is a cross-generation game. I think it will release for only three platforms and that are Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. It has been stated by both Rockstar Games and Take-Two, Rockstar Games' parent company, that GTA V would be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. No where has either Take-Two or Rockstar stated that GTA V will be released on the PS4 or on next gen for that matter; even though it is possible even if slightly given Rockstar's history (or lack thereof) of releasing games from the preceding generations to the next. If GTA V was to be a PS4 launch title, IMO, it would of been mentioned at the PlayStation meeting when the PS4 was announced and furthermore, even Rockstar would of said something by now IMO. Furthermore, why can't people just accept that the delay was due to the fact that GTA V needed extra development time without the need to go into these theories that GTA V is going to be a next gen title? LotusRIP Posted March 3, 2013 Share Posted March 3, 2013 I'm starting to think they might have originally planned to release V in May, then DLC later in the year, but they got a scare by the PS4's announcement so they decided instead to just merge everything in to the boxed product and delay the release. PS4 is releasing at holiday... we'll make more money if we can sell it on both consoles (without looking like douches because we released in spring 2013) - how about Sept 2013...?" c) part (a) took its course over three to four segments. Yes, it was delayed three to four times. They make great games but something is truly lacking in the ... running the business ... department. I can't think of any other word apart from ignorant, because R* have already stated that it will be released on the current gen systems, and even continued to say that it's when the consoles reach the end of their life-cycles that the best games produced, which is why V will be a really great game. saintsrow Posted March 3, 2013 Share Posted March 3, 2013 If Rockstar financial analysts are as competent as Rockstar Marketing, I can imagine that they picked right up on the idea right away: "Hey, lets forsake the 30 million GTAV sales that we would have gotten on PS3 and Xbpx 360, so we can be a PS4 exclusive launch title and sell about 500 copies of GTAV by end of fiscal year March 31, 2014. "We'll only have to delay the game for about a year while the devs rebuild it completely for a new platform that they have never designed on before. Should be no problem; go for it! I find that people actually don't believe half the crap that Rockstar tells them. They need something deeper. They need a controversy.
