BlackNoise
Some GTA fans have this weird idea that they're the most important customer R* should be marketing to. And what's even weirder is those same fans think the average gamer is actually "following" the marketing campaign. You're not supposed to follow the marketing. You're supposed to just watch videos, view images, and articles when you get a chance to see them. This is something I just started thinking about, because there are other games I plan on buying this year. I don't know the marketing campaign timeline for The Last of Us for example. I can't wait to play that game, but it's not an established series which I've been a diehard fan of for over a decade. For that very same reason I'm not "following" every aspect of Naughty Dog's marketing campaign. Don't you guys understand this is how the rest of the world sees GTA V? If you don't follow it like a fanatic, you wouldn't think anything is wrong with the marketing. You're not even supposed to think about what's right/wrong with a video game's "marketing campaign". Please just stop and think about what I just said. YOU'RE A GAMER. It's normal to think about what's right/wrong with the actual game from viewing images, videos, and articles, but instead you're analyzing an entire marketing campaign. Why are you looking at a game from a business perspective? You don't know how the average gamer feels about GTA V or the marketing campaign for that matter, because you're anything but an average gamer when it comes to the GTA series. This idea that gamers need to be "hyped" about a game is f*cking ridiculous. I'm not "hyped" about Bioshock Infinite. I watched one trailer for that game and I decided I will purchase it whenever it releases.
abottig
You'll be lucky if we see anything before June. But when it starts, it's gonna be f*cking massive. Remember the marketing campaign for IV? Bigger than that. We're talking radio, TV, internet, subways, buses, in-store displays, banners plastered to the side of buildings, more trailers, more screens, interactive websites.... Capricornus
This is such a stupid ass question. The point of marketing is to advertise the game so that R*/T2 can drum up interest in their product, so that the product sell well and the companies involved make a excellent profit. Its like asking why do fish need water.
I<3GTAV
Obviously, the marketing campaign is working, people are on the edge of their seats getting all the info they can.
