Benjimino234
I like Midori (melon liqueur) with lemonade, rum & coke .etc I like heavier types of beers and stouts like Guinness and James Boag can't stand light beer or anything that taste like camel piss - I'd rather have soft drinks. Max
So, to you UK folks, how good is Strongbow? I've only ever had Woodchuck which I adore, but I've been wanting to try new ciders, though, in the midwest, aside from Woodchuck, cider is a bit scarce. A local bar has Strongbow on tap (the only place in the city with any kind of cider on tap, though it might not be Strongbow and instead a locally brewed brand, not sure), but I haven't been there in ages and I was wondering if it's worth it. I know Melchior said its good earlier but its really a matter of taste obviously. I for one, can't stand Strongbow, its too sweet for me I personally like my Ciders to have a more earthy taste. If you're a serious cider drinker and you're in the UK I'd have a look a some of the smaller Cider brewers, something like Stowford Press. Strongbow is cheap, sugary and commercial but that's why its so popular.

We're more into the craft-beer fad and don't get many ciders, hence my interest. |PropagandaIncorporated:|: Steam:|: DeviantArt:|: Last.FM|

Max
@The-King: Yeah, I saw the flag, I meant if you're ever in the UK I'd make time to check-out the micro-breweries scene, great ciders, beers and ales which will set you back a bit but are really worth it. I've never really considered if America has a cider culture, would you say something like Strongbow would take-off in the states? @brownbear: My university does an Annual Beer, Real Ale and Cider festival in a brave attempt at injecting a modicum of culture into student drinking . The festival stocks obscure (and usually delicious) drinks from all over the UK and some from abroad. The Local Yorkshire Ale scene is brilliant too. I tried Black Rat Last year and it was delcious, although I've never heard of Dick Willows I'm sure when the festival comes around this year I'll go hunting for it. @sivispacem: Yeah, brewed by Weston's who really do know how to make a fine cider. Unfortuantely there's no pubs near me which have any of their ciders on draught, I've yet to try Henry Weston's Vintage but then I'm yet to find any Weston's cider which is sh*t so I'm going to have to give it a go. Nycki
I used to drink mostly cider but I'm slowly becoming more of a beer drinker, love wheat beers with lots of lemon/limes in them. If I am in a club I can't be bothered with pints so I'll drink vodka or rum although I'm not overly fond of either. My favourite short is amaretto liqueur but it's generally a lot more expensive than standard spirits. Mix amaretto with sprite and you have liquid marzipan in a glass. @The-King - strongbow is a dry cider. I've tried a few American ciders, including woodchuck and I find them to be very sweet, strongbow is not like that. I drank strongbow when I was young and foolish. I drink mangers or bulmers if I'm in a pub and going to drink cider, these are probably the sweetest big brand ciders available in the uk. As max said the best ciders are available from smaller brewers which I can only really get in the off license so on the rare occasions when I drink at home I will try them then. Stowford is definitely one of the best. Edited March 2, 2013 by nycki88
mrpain
I have only drank twice in my entire life. First one was whiskey, second one was beer. Both tasted like AIDS to me. How does one get to have that drunk feeling anyway? Never had that before. The drinks just tasted like any other drinks to me. You have to drink more than a sip hey. I don't think anyone actually likes the taste of liquor at first, its something that grows on you. Ill drink most anything so its easier to list what I dislike more than I like. I cant f*cking stomach white wine, champagne, ouzo, gin and curacao. Nasty sh*t. Also f*ck light beer, whats the point? I did take more than a sip. In fact, I drank the entire bottle. Still tasted like ugh. I only drank it because I actually did wanted to try out alcohol. Wow I was so disappointed at both occasions. All my friends were like wooooaaaahh I'm drunk dude and I'm just like there thinking I should probably get better friends who aren't idiots. Gimme a Red Bull or a Monster Chaos any other day. Drink with adults. Drunk kids suck. Nah we were like seventeen last year and they we were mature enough already. I mean mean their drunkeness wasn't like those crazy antics. More like they just needed to lie down. Wasn't that much different from drunk adults. I once saw a drunk dude collapsed on a road and was inches away from getting hit by a bus. Then again my parents will kill me if they caught me drinking. Not because of age or anything, more because of being a Muslim. I don't care, but hell they're very religious. But meh. GTA_stu
I'm a big strongbow drinker, I just like it because everywhere has it and it's one of my favourite casual drinking drinks. I always get it if I'm in a pub or popping into an off-license. Most of my friends think it's either too dry or too sweet though. Woodpeckers isn't bad either, and recorderlig is probably my favourite cider. I also don't mind brothers/magners/bulmers. I'm not a fan of lagers, too bitter for me and can't stand the taste, it makes me feel sick. I was doing a beer bong one time, and I'd drank a can of strongbow, then some twat poured a can of skoll into it. I drank a couple of mouth fulls and then just couldn't hack it, but seeing as I was surrounded on all sides I had nowhere to go. So I had to spit it all over the fridge instead. I'm usually not big into ciders, but Angry Orchard is pretty good. There's another thread from a while back that got buried but whatever. I typically stick with craft beer (I'm a hop head, IPAs plez) or brown liquor - bourbon, scotch whiskey, or rye, usually straight, but sometimes in a cocktail. The Maple Leaf is something that I'm a big fan of lately - 2 fingers of bourbon with a pour of maple syrup and lemon juice, shaken and poured over ice. I'm also fond of the Manhattan, Kentucky Colonel, and Old Fashion. Whiskey and ginger beer is nice too.

How far from Bath, might have to get my brother to drive me there next time he's in Bath. I f*cking love rough cider, best drink going. You ever tried Honey's Midford cider? Now that's a proper strong pint, or Old Bristolian? This place is probably my favourite watering hole: Cider on a fricking boat, what could top that. Other than cider I can commonly be found drinking Jack Daniels, often mixed with coke, lager (Polish ones tend to be decent tasting, strong and cheap), the odd pale ale, jagerbombs and some other stuff when I feel like it.
