dee8ball
RDR is currently my favorite Rockstar title. Everything felt right. The controls, the weapon handling, the hud, the inventory, the minigames, the characters, the story, the world, the interaction, the weapon wheel, everything felt perfect. So this thread is about all things you would like to see return from RDR. I would like too see all those awesome features and more from RDR. TheIllaDopest
RDR is the greatest game i have ever played....until i picked up Max Payne 3. RDR had awesome open world features, but im hoping it more like MP3 but with the open world vastness of RDR. Huntiing, hiking, mini games, or just plain stupid randomness that is GTA!!! Either way I cant wait!!!
jamieleng
Yeah RDR is possibly my all time favourite game, just above GTA IV. Although I tend to play IV more, RDR was an experience I'd not had since I played Ocarina of Time way back in the N64 days. We already know some key things have been transferred over to V. Some terrain will be similar, animals are probably the best feature, hopefully there is some sort of inventory system & the weapon wheel (with a classic option setting for purists). Chop might share some similarities with how you interact with your horse, he'll probably follow you but do his own thing, whistle & he'll coming running. I'd like the ability to hog tie (or cable tie) people, pick them up & put them in the boot (trunk) or throw them down Mt. Chiliad. Diesleman
Ive hardly spared a moments thought for chop but it could be really fun having a dog follow you around and go on road trips, haha. I was thinking the other day I hope the characters movement has a bit moe weight like in rdr, as apposed to gta where it's really sensitive. Red Dead Redemption definitely impressed me a lot more than GTA IV did, as far as first-time gameplay experiences go. It is my favorite current-gen Rockstar game too. The game still looks stunning compared to most games out now, even though it's over 3 years old now. I'll never forget how great that game was. On topic, I'd like to see the unlimited random encounters with peds, and crimes happening on the streets, roads, etc. Card and dice games for gambling. Many more that I can't think of right now. SeaFoam
No doubt the weapon wheel. It was easy to use and much easier than having to use the D-PAD. I would also like to see horses back and the ability to ride them. While I doubt it will happen, the thought of running from the cops riding a horse on a highway in downtown Los Santos causing traffic accidents sounds beyond amazing. But I agree, if R* did stuff like this, it would really set GTA V apart from every other game in terms of open world choice. Just copy all the data, models, and textures from RDR with tiny tweaks if you have to, we don't really care. Riding horses in the middle of modern day Los Santos would be awesome. This would be great. It reminds me of the movie True Lies when Schwarzenegger is riding a horse in the city chasing the bad guy and everybody is like . Besides having downtown police on horseback (and I think there may still be a few), GTAV should have the horses in the game so they can have a couple of horse stables / ranches -- one in the upscale Palos Verdes (Verdant Meadows) suburb of Los Santos and at least one ranch out in the country. The Verdant Meadows stables could have a steeplechase course and associated minigame(s). The upscale women in Los Santos, young and old, need their horse stable - they like horses. Seriously, the horse games and maybe even some minigames about caring for or bonding with the horses could draw the older sisters of a lot of GTAV gamers into an interest in GTAV, for better or worse
Miss Darko
^ I'm pretty sure there will be horses and other livestock in the game. I just don't think we'll be able to ride them. I'd love to be proven wrong when the game comes out, though. (If there's a screenshot that shows horse-mounted police, that could also probably be taken as a confirmation that we can ride them, as well). I would like to see that but without the automatic mini mission start and the message telling me I failed to do something if I choose not to do it. Seriously, that was pretty obnoxious. Tsuroki
-Weapon wheel-Bandana -Just the inventory system in general -Ability to both buy and sell things at stores A better economy system (buying/selling products), controlling territory in multiplayer, weapon wheel, and a smoother cover system would be great additions. Rockstar really built things up nicely from Red Dead Redemption through Max Payne 3. GTA V will be their crowning achievement for this generation of systems. Dick Justice
The Journal tasks added so much to free-roaming so I hope they're included. They don't have to be exactly the same as in Red Dead, i.e. the treasure hunter and survivalist challenges wouldn't really fit in. I think each character could have exclusive tasks: Trevor could have hunting challenges while Michael has scuba challenges, etc. Otherwise; the weapon wheel, inventory, unlockable outfits that give you bonuses and more in-depth Stranger missions. Rock Howard
I think it's highly likely the weapons wheel will return. In fact, I'm confident it's pretty much a certainty given it was used in MP3 as well.
Guest
One thing I hope they don't have is RDR's unlocking outfit system. When I buy clothes I want the clothes, not to have to ride across the country, save a town from an arbitrary attack, play liar's dice, open a chest, complete a side mission that has another side mission inside that, etc. Just give me the damn t shirt. Racecarlock
I'll list the thing I don't want from RDR. Not being able to swim. Oh my god. They could have at least had a drowning animation or some kind of last stand to get back to land mechanic, but no. Apparently the water is some kind of dangerous carnivore that swallows people whole in one bite. Yeah, that's realistic.

killahmatic
RDR is fun but definitely not perfect. Lock-on was terrible. When the story was over there wasn't a lot to do other than random events and a few other things. I mean, I can only save a hanging woman so many times before i start shooting the guy that asks for help. Hunting is fun but much less fun when you have way more money than you'll ever use. Dont get me wrong, I love the game, and its one of my favorites. There were a lot of great things in it. I liked the health system, though I wish you regained it a little slower. The weapon selection was basically perfect. Most missions were pretty exciting (which is something GTA doesn't often accomplish). Clothing options were minimal but perfect. The scenery was fantastic. etc. etc. etc... Edited March 3, 2013 by killahmatic
Autopilot
One of my favorite things to do in RDR was lassoing random peds, carrying them over to the railroad and watching the train ride over them. I hope that and the weapon wheel return in V.
