I'm down for a NFL fantasy league but do we have regular active posters here for it? I'm so out of the loop I don't even know who's posting.

^^Oh you mean "Hugh" Hefner (hue is a color attribute) who was EXTREMELY masculine? Masculine doesnt mean "big, dumb, toughguy" nor does "manly" mean misogynist.  You're right, I dont watch or even like football, but seeing as an overwhelming amount of family, friends, coworkers, and other colleagues do watch, there doesnt seem to be much demand for male cheerleaders. I have lots of gay friends, none of them watch football either, but they can all name a player they would ****. All the women I know watch because they like the sport and they also have players they would ****. But again, if the demand is there by all means, let these guys cheer.

I sincerely never heard the term, Coyote Ugly outside that movie, so egg on my face. I do find your interpretation of masculinity a bit shallow though.  You seem to just be refering to the working class, non millionaire as masculine, garbage men get laid too you know. If you know a garbage man or woman making minimum wage that has been working more than a year, it's only because he or she is agreeing to. They should "man up" and ask for a raise or a promotion with confidence. Generally, disagreeable people are make more money. Being disagreeable is considered a masculine trait. Most successful people are disagreeable, dont confuse this with contrarianism.

Also, a PC agenda IS a weak as $%%^ excuse to bring in male cheerleaders. The only non-weak excuse would be fan demand.

Alright, seriously you prove to me that it is all part of a PC agenda bullsh*t from the NFL two teams involved, then I'll backtrack on all my statements.

Hue...Hugh....w/e.  You're still equating Success = Masculinity, which is incredibly false.

Being disagreeable is a masculine trait?  That's a first time I heard that.  Have any proof behind this concept as well?  Most successful people are disagreeable?  Have any statistics to back this up?   I'm just going by the straight-forward definition of what masculinity is...you're going by perceived results.  You ever hear of the phrase "Correlation doesn't equal causation"?  Because that's what your spouting off here - a bunch of corollaries that don't equal cause.  When you take a social construct and try to define it as a cause of a tangible result, you need some serious proof to back it up.  So going back to the beginning...show some proof of concept here....but really, I just want to see that first one if that's the foundation of what your claiming.  Just show that first one...

We could get one going if we got enough people.  I'm doing 3 already and running 1 of them.  The big question would be: Are we doing a "friendly" contest, or we actually throwing some money down on this?

You havent actually defined masculinity as anything, you just say that masculinity results in garbage men being unable to get laid because they dont make enough money. Simultaneously, you are implying masculinity is misogynist, when traditionally it was associated with courage, responsibility, determination...the ability to be assertive, provide, and protect. You dont have to be a millionaire to be successful or to attract women. Anything I give will merely correlate what I'm saying as there are always exceptions to the trend, and clearly there are different ideas on the matter. But the idea that masculinity is toxic or tyrannical is just another result of PC extreme. I'll try anyway, here are some things that correlate what I'm saying, however you should probably just ask around.

https://youtu.be/U-kxdyJs6y8

Then around the 7 minute mark, but I would urge you to watch the whole video, great.

...and just an interesting examination of masculinity

Again, I can only correlate due to any examples that would be visable to both of us will be a celebrity, so just ask any hetero woman if its sexy when her man fixes her car, chops wood, or stands up for her. The answer is more than likely "yes" due to masculine stereotypes of confidence and ability. Hetero women watch mens football for the same reason men watch women's volleyball. Women dont watch women's football or basketball for the same reason men dont watch men's volleyball. Yes, they are generalizations, but these ratios are literally around 85% vs 15% and that's being generous.

I think some of you misunderstand the "male cheerleaders" thing. They are just going to be male dancers. You see plenty of them in music videos, stage performances etc. It's not going to be as one of you put it a bunch of "twinks" dancing around.

lQqgDC8.jpg

Yeah, I definitely misunderstood, as this gentleman is definitely NOT a stereotypical twink dancing around.

Also, in case it needed clarification, twink is not an offensive term, it's no different than me saying JJ Watt looks like a jock or whatever.

Anyway, good luck to them I guess...as long as there's still cleavage on the sidelines, I'm all good.  😉

You've literally posted a guy smiling in what looks like a similar dance to Childish Gambino's from "This is America" and the other is just a particularly flexible dance move. Have you ever considered why the optics of this are such an issue for you?

Beats me. Can't even discuss sports anymore without Jordan Peterson's life lessons being thrown around, making issues out of non-issues.

Jason Witten says Sam Darnold reminds him of Tony Romo. Any takers on that?

....that Canadian dbag....on so many levels.

I'm not confident in Jason Witten's analysis prowess just yet.  His experience of watching & evaluating QB's has been from the field, not from the scouting perspective.  I could be wrong but his inexperience in judging any talent outside of positions other than the ones he played (and even then, there is a long precedent that almost all great players don't make good scouts or coaches...a bit of a phenomenon, but it's true).  Even Troy, who is one of my most respected analysts out there today, had a rocky beginning.  Give him a few years to really understand what he is seeing on the practice and game fields.

-snip- for length purposes

You'll need to do better than Jordan & Joe to prove your point and actually give me something to read instead of a video to watch.  The worst thing you can do is provide a video of people talking.  I don't want to hear someone else's thoughts, I want to observe some *evidence* that backs up the point YOU have tried to make.  If you want to go about copying and pasting someone's else point - then go for it all you want, but you won't find anymore audience from this person.  Provide some evidence - not talking points from someone else's perspective.  You're obviously a fan of JP (which I'm not but some of his writings and EVIDENCE that he puts forth are very sound...*some*).

Masculinity is a loosely defined social construct, and depending on the culture, the definition of masculinity changes depending on the culture.  Even saying "Western Culture" is too broad of a term, because Western Culture is a collection of various Western cultures that have varying degrees of differences.  However in general Western cultures define masculinity as the culmination of traits associated with being masculine.  If I recall correctly there is independence, strength, courage and assertiveness.  There might be another one or two, but I can't recall at the moment.

The original point that you tried to make was that success = masculinity, and I have refuted that.  No where in any social standard of masculinity equals success.  If you want to prove that, again try to do so.

But hey...I'm done.  You want to provide me with some actual proof...send it in a PM.

Ok, if you're just going to ignore a Professor of psychology who has clearly and studied the subject and Joe Rogan on masculinity because it's in video format then you simply refuse to listen. Format is trivial.

Also, my original claim was that nobody asked for male cheerleaders, and women are attracted to masculinity, two things you have yet to disprove. You showed a photo of some elderly NFL star and saying "see, women are attracted to success" while ignoring the hundreds of millions of women married to men who arent billionaires. I ask you again

, prove that hundreds of millions of men with low to middle class wages are unattractive to women. Prove women aren't attracted to masculinity, and prove you can be successful without being competitive or disagreeable. Tell me why Jordan and Joe are not qualified to speak on masculinity. Offer me something beyond stubbornly ignoring data without data correlating to your claims.  It's ok, I was done a week ago.

I don't need to disprove anything you claimed.  You made the claim - you back it up.  Simple as that.

As I said, take it to a PM...and I'll give you example of how to provide proof and citation.  Videos of opinions without data even linked doesn't cut it.  Never has.

No PM for you, show me how to correctly provide data right here. Your saying they are "opinion" videos but only one is offering an opinion is Rogan. 2 are based on university research and one is from a Professor of Psychology, his PhD is recognition of his education on the subject matter of human behavior. YOU made the claim that there are 2 kinds of men in this world, hunky and masculine guys who dont get laid, and ugly mofos who are rich who do get laid, and that all the "hunky masculine guys are on the streets playing with their pricks". Prove that last part, right here. Prove to me your claim of "2 kinds of men".

I've been following the Raiders for well over a decade now and I honestly think this is the dawn of one of the most embarrassing periods for the franchise. Giving Gruden top to bottom control of the franchise and a 10 year deal will go down as one of the worst decisions ever made in the history of sports. Trading Mack is just the start.

They were running up and down the field with ease, but getting to the 1, 5, and 15 yard line with no points is a problem. It was the same as last year

It'll never get fixed lol

I don't have any Nike gear to own.  I don't like them for different reasons, and their ad is what it is and their message is positive.  The fact some people are butthurt over their choice of sponsor is purely on them and are so narrow minded in the matter it's not even worth going any further on.

Eagles D looked great, and that catch rule (as written) in my mind was not that difficult to interpret (and I even wrote a short essay on the Clement and Ertz catches in the Super Bowl as legitimate catches according to the rulebook).  Then I saw the Julio Jones catch that wasn't a catch according to the refs...and now I'm confused.  I'm going to draw up last year's rulebook and this year, and see if there is any changes.

At the most - it was originally ruled incomplete and the refs felt the replay wasn't conclusive?  I can't remember what the original call was.

But the actual squad...Eagles defense looked like it did in the preseason, and the Eagles offense looks like it did in the preseason as well.  Ajayi isn't a beast, but he is sure fun to watch after first contact.  Darby played awesome when he was in man against Julio.  Julio roamed free when the Eagles played a zone, or made Mills bite on the double move...in the redzone, they tighten down.  Brings me back to the Jim Johnson's "Bend, Don't Break" philosophy, just with less blitzing.

Fletcher Cox is the f*cking man.  Jason Peters is as well (and he isn't even 100% yet).  Great to see Jordan Hicks back - he's one of the best LB in the league, highly underrated.  His injury prone nature hurts his reputation.
