I dont think he can. He's a Colt Brennan type player in the sense that he can play in college but the step up to the NFL will be too much for him.

He isn't like the typical QB's that come out of Alabama. He has his own unique skill set. I watched so much of him last season and I was convinced I was just going to see another boring game manager, but he was actually a substantial part of the crimson tide's success. I would of liked to of seen what Bill Bellichek could of done with him to be honest.

I like Odell Beckham for my Giants - another weapon for Eli, and he'll make Victor Cruz's life easier.

Sam I'd say is a 5th-7th round talent, you could probably make the argument he'd of gone higher if he hadn't of come out but there is no way to be sure to be honest. I'm glad he has been given his chance anyway. He has a pretty good chance of beating out Eugene Sims for a place on the Rams roster, and even if he doesn't make it there he will be in someone's practice squad come pre-season.

I honestly dont think he got drafted in the 7th round because of his sexuality. Like Geth said he was a 5th - 7th round talent so he got selected round about where he should of been. I think you could probably say he was drafted that low because he was gay if he had Clowney type talent, but he doesn't.

I find it odd that the past 6-7 SEC Defensive Player of the Year(s) have been drafted in the first. I believe he shared the award with Clowney this year...

 

I could be reaching, but I'm not aware of the scouting report before he came out and said he was gay.

It is a good question Mr. Gary Payton.

 

I can tell you why people hate him, and if you are a decent person it will make as little sense to you as it does to me. He's confident. He's cocky. He has got into your various run of the mill juvenile issues whilst at college (coming to training hungover etc.) but most of all he's good. It is interesting, because Manziel is getting the same treatment most black QB's get in college. Like the myth that Terelle Pryor had a poor attitude was hilarious. He was the Raiders and Buckeyes best leader for years. He hasn't quite got there yet in the NFL but his work ethic should never be questioned.

 

it is the same for Manziel really..it's a love/hate thing. But if someone says they hate Money Manziel it's a good bet they are a bit of a wet blanket.

right, I mean at this point it would appear that the Dolphins have developed a really poor lockeroom atmosphere.

it's mostly the fault of the coaching staff and ownership, but it is what it is. these young men might be raised a certain way in a certain neighborhood but once you're a professional American athlete getting paid to be a major role model, you either check that sh*t at the door or lose your job.

I couldn't agree less with you. Yes punish them etc but I dont believe either of them are racist's or homophobic and shouldn't be made examples of. Don Jones sent out a tweet without thinking it through and if Incognito really was a racist then why did most of his teammates back him up?

People hate Johnny Football because he is cocky, arrogant and most importantly he is damn good football player. Don't let him fool you that it doesn't bother him he slipped in the draft, you could tell by his body language he was uneasy and his facial expressions said enough when the Browns picked him.

 

I personally hope he does well. But working for an organization that is infamously known for horrible QB draft picks and QB's in general, and having poor management all around, the odds are stacked against him to succeed in the NFL. Will be interesting to watch.

This will be my last post on the issue as we aren't going to change each others opinions. All I will say though is if you where the commisioner would you ban black players for life who say 'ni**er'?

That sounds like a slight slap on the wrist and an extended vacation compared to Gordon's second offense. Rules are rules but they need to change it for use of marijuana, especially when the league is/has been discussing using for medicinal use.... and let's be frank, a player will smoke it for "medicinal purposes" whether they need to or not.

 

I'll add, Ricky Williams was a beast on the ganja.
