The best time to take over gang territories?

I guess it depends how quickly the player intends to complete the subsequent missions, and whether they would benefit from having a friendly territory. For example, if Taxi or Burglary missions haven't been done yet. The calls to defend a territory also get annoying. I find that the money that dead gang members drop is insignificant. But they are the quickest method to collect AK-47 or SMG ammo.

I would add the completing gang wars during the first wave is much harder than during the second wave, because you lack the best weapons at that moment, unless you really go out of your way to acquire them (I know there a few powerful weapon locations in LS, but they're hard to reach). Doing gang wars without the M4 is a pain in the ass, the AK is just too inaccurate for that.
