GTA V using full potential of Xbox 360 and PS3

GTA V will definitely push all 7th-generation consoles to it's very limits to what it has gained. GTA V would finally bring all those mechanical improvements from where it picked in it's previous installment forthe 7th-generation consoles as we finally reach the 8th-generation consoles..

That font color..

Who are you?

What's your story? I want to learn what makes you tick.

Well... I'm just a normal forum guy interested about GTA and so on, no offense.

Why do you want me to tell my personal story? And why do you care about my font color? confused.gif

You're amazing. That is all.. biggrin.gif

It's going to push it to the very limits, which is sad because the limits of the current consoles are small as hell. We're looking at a sub 20 FPS game.

I really hope your wrong in the end about the FPS part, That's one laggy mofo, and almost extremely unplayable tbh. I hope the FPS is at least 25-30 at most.

Another hint to why next gen is a possibility.

Was playing Saints Row and blowing stuff up for 20 mins. There was hardly any lag compared to when I blew sh*t up in liberty City in TBOGT, the game would lag like hell......

They also need to sort the graphics and smooth it out.

Cyfa has a point in a sense. GTAIV did go sub 20 fps on a regular basis in Algonquin in a 3 star plus police chase. Thats a fact.

V though, from the trailer at least, is looking smoother than IV.

At least with the PS4 and the new XBOX we will be playing at native (not scalated) 1080p and at a stable framerate of 60 FPS. 8GB of RAM is enough to exploit an 8 core procesor. But for now, we´ll have to play with a lower framerate.

By the way, look at the GTA IV trailers, they look laggy in some parts, and now look at the GTA V second trailer, it looks very smooth actually.

I'm sure very few games will run @ 60 on the new consoles.

I agree with the rest of your points, but I think we may see more 60 Frames per second games on new consoles, or maybe 45 Frames per second at least once developers gain some experience, Graphics can still improve much, but they are already getting quite close to life-like in many respects.

About using the full potential, well yeah, I suppose they are, I don't really see how this is all that necessary to make a topic about. Just to clarify though, pretty much every game pushes consoles to the limit, developers don't make the game so that it still has loads of leeway on the consoles, they optimize it as much as they need to, but no further.

unfortunately, every game company says that their latest game is pushing the consoles to the limit. But yes, I believe GTA 5 be amazing.

To put t into context, far cry 3, a pretty well running game runs an average of 22 GPS on Xbox 360 and ps3. So I doubt gta v will be running at 30 consistently and I dare say it will drop below 20 at time, eg big multiple explosions? You sir are the f*cking idiot, and a rude f*cking prick to boot I might add. Not the most charming combination.

That's because you don't use it properly. You have used the BBCode in this way:

[color=blue]This text is colored.[\color]

You used the backslash character instead of the slash one, that is the reason why it doesn't work. The code has to look like this:

[color=blue]This text is colored.[/color]

The result would be this: This text is colored.

Consoles running at native 1080P with 60FPS on an AMD Jaguar chipset? Good luck with that!

AMD Jaguars are made to compete with Intel Atoms (entry level notebooks/laptops).

Battlefield 4 devs confirmed that it will be running at 1080p/60 fps on the ps4....

So it is possible

Possible like COD runs at 60FPS on current machines.

John Carmack and co seem to think 30FPS is still going to be the standard on next gen consoles. I can honestly say looking at PS4 specs that is easy to believe.

It's obvious that GTA V will push the limits of both consoles, but I am wondering how much disc space this game will take. It's ok for PS3 since it has 50GB blu ray discs, but what about 360? I mean game looks huge. People would probably need to disc swap at some point.

The programming of the next-generations consoles will be very likely less of a pain compared to the PlayStation 3 which means it will be easier for videogame developers to push the hardware to the limit because they can use the whole potencial of it. That also means that the framerate will be lower but still on a level that can be considered as playable and that is what matters. 30FPS is still playable and possible framedrops can be prevented with the right methods.

Well let's take RDR into count. As huge as RDR is I've never had preformance problems on my 360 while playing. Not even once confused.gif

You cannot compare Red Dead Redemption to a Grand Theft Auto game. GTA has a big city with a great variety of vehicles and NPCs, a complexe AI system and many more things that the Red Dead games not have. RDR runs fine on the consoles but it is nowhere as complexe as GTA so that comparison is not fair.

Yeah.. Limits.. sorta I guess.

Lets look at it another way?

GTA V will be using consoles very efficiently with the same game "limits" that GTA IV had.

Rockstar said in their interview that with their experience so far, they've really be able to work magic on consoles.

They've also said that near the end of the consoles life cycle, they've been able to concentrate so much more content than once thought possible.

Look at GTA 3 and GTA Vice City. Playing GTA SA on such a HUGE maps with No Loading Screen?? I was like waoh! How'd they manage that.

They will do the same with Ps3 and Xbox. They will be using it much more effectively.

Nowhere near as complex? I wouldn't go that far.

RDR is very much GTA in the old west.

Maybe not nowhere as complexe but it's still not as complexe.

Yeah. GTA IV was the first openworld title from Rockstar Games with RAGE and if we look at all the titles they have released since 2008, then we can see that the engine improved a lot. Well with all the experience they have from all the years, they can do much more with their games at the end of the console generation than they can doo at the start of it. GTA III was the first GTA game in the PS2 era and it represented the transition from 2D to 3D and it was based on a new engine. Vice City was supposed to be a DLC for GTA III but it ended up in being a new game since the scale of the DLC was a bit too much for the limited engine of the first 3D GTA.

GTA San Andreas was released at the end of the PS2-era and it pushed the hardware to the limit. The game was an improvement in almost everything compared to past games of the series. GTA IV represented the transition from 3D to HD and it seemed like it pushed the hardware to the limit. Just look at the games that came after it! Red Dead Redemption did the wildlife and the old west in general so well, it's very impressive. The shooting mechanics of Max Payne 3 are amazing and the game is well optimized on all platforms! GTA V will push the consoles to their limits and it will pretty much contain all improvements of the past games, not only GTA games but Rockstar titles in general.

What people tend to get caught up on are specs and forget about the time span between V and IV. GTAIV is almost 5 years old. That's half a decades worth of optimisation, shown in RDR and MP3 which run fine from my experience on PS3. Of course GTAV will push consoles but Rockstar North have both the knowledge and history needed to pull it off. The main thing for me is the frame rate...

IV ran at like 25FPS and dipped a lot in multiplayer. In 16 player police shootouts it would be about 10, perhaps even slower! The fact is that GTAIV was R*'s first real next-gen game, and it showed. V will not suffer and R* knows it wont. All they have to do is ad a little eye candy and make it run at 30FPS, and they have had 5 years and 4 current gen titles to perfect their engine (IV, RDR, L.A.N, and MP3) so with that in mind, there is no doubt R* will make a stunning looking and smooth game. icon14.gif

IMO the game will have to be smooth, even if it looks the same as IV all I want is a good framerate. Some modern games are pretty good! NFS:MW is at 30FPS but seems like 60 whilst looking really good, so R* will have no trouble putting their code monkeys to use to achieve draw distance boosts and solid FPS. tounge.gif

EDIT: Brian pretty much said the same thing lol.

That's not even playable. Stop.

It with play at 30fps with some slowdown. Below 20?! Not gonna happen.

It will be absolutely gorgeous in a DirectX 9 kinda way. It will max out this gen the same way that SanAn maxed out PS2.

This. I expect some slow-downs when there's a bunch of explosions, but generally a steady 30 FPS.

Just for fun, I'm going to use forum poster logic: "If you don't want the game to lag, don't go driving around fast and blowing sh*t up. Problem solved." smile.gif
