GTA V using full potential of Xbox 360 and PS3

From the look of the screenshots and trailers, one can only assume that GTA V may be using the full graphic capabilities of the PS3 and Xbox 360, what do you guys think? Do you think this game will run Current Gen to its limits? Discuss.

It's going to push it to the very limits, which is sad because the limits of the current consoles are small as hell. We're looking at a sub 20 FPS game.

I really hope your wrong in the end about the FPS part, That's one laggy mofo, and almost extremely unplayable tbh. I hope the FPS is at least 25-30 at most.

Scale doesn't matter. It's the cutscenes, audio etc. that take up most of the space.

Well, it will be pushing it as far as it can run sufficiently smoothly for the most part. I would expect the framerate to be ok generally, but have some drops when lots of things are happening at once. I dunno, I can deal with that, at least.

@sibs44

Of course in the case of cutscenes, that's only an issue when they're pre-rendered, because that means there has to be a bunch of high-definition video files in there, basically. But in almost all R*'s games (the most recent exception being MP3, because it used pre-rendered cutscenes to play over load times between levels), the cutscenes are done in real time, meaning that the game doesn't have to carry all those video files. There's still the TV footage to take into account, though.

At least with the PS4 and the new XBOX we will be playing at native (not scalated) 1080p and at a stable framerate of 60 FPS. 8GB of RAM is enough to exploit an 8 core procesor. But for now, we´ll have to play with a lower framerate.

By the way, look at the GTA IV trailers, they look laggy in some parts, and now look at the GTA V second trailer, it looks very smooth actually.

That's not even playable. Stop.

It with play at 30fps with some slowdown. Below 20?! Not gonna happen.

It will be absolutely gorgeous in a DirectX 9 kinda way. It will max out this gen the same way that SanAn maxed out PS2.

I'm sure very few games will run @ 60 on the new consoles.

Consoles running at native 1080P with 60FPS on an AMD Jaguar chipset? Good luck with that!

AMD Jaguars are made to compete with Intel Atoms (entry level notebooks/laptops).

Yeah, GTA V will push Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, each to their limits. Not only graphical but the draw distance is enormous, it's possible to look from one end of the map to the other end, and the AI will be more complexe than in GTA IV. Basically, everything in GTA V is an improvement over GTA IV and even games that came after it. You would probably think that the framerate is going to be terrible since GTA IV didn't run that well. I would say it will fairly equal because GTA V is seperatly developed for each platform instead of being developed for Xbox 360 and then ported to all the other platforms. The performance will certainly benefit from it. GTA V will push the consoles to their limits like GTA San Andreas pushed the PS2 to the limit. That will always be the case with games that release on the end of a console generation but that also means that the best games are releasing exactly then, at least that's the case with Rockstar Games.

Yes, I hope that GTA V pushes PS3 & Xbox abilities to full. Just from the trailors and screenshots one can imagine what is to come.

ya... draw distance in the screens were FAAAAR. they've obviously optimised it to its full capabilities.

and its been said before... RAGE engine has been round for a while, and its also been optimised.

I really hope they just release it on PS4 and next Xbox. Since I'm getting a next gen for Christmas. I want GTA 5 to take advantage of the 8 gigs of ram and all the extra power to create an amazing experience

Xbox: yes.  Ps3: almost but better than xbox

I agree, because look at the EFLC port to PS3, it was all washed out when they ported it compared to the original, some textures were missing, and everything seemed a little off IMO. Every game that's usually ported looks worser than the original, But sometimes that isn't the case with most games, but with GTA its certain. GTA V PS3 and PC will be the best looking versions. XBOX 360 version will still look as good, but won't have the same realistic colors as the PS3 version.

I can't tell if you're that f*cking stupid, or just a troll. But I'm going with the latter, considering that's sadly what this forum is made up of now.

Especially in the early days it was the PS3 versions of third party games that was the lesser version. Mostly noticeable when comparing the two next to eachother, or else not. Eurogamer's Digital Foundry even said RDR didn't run on 720p on PS3 but did on 360. Some exclusives of PS3 look quite better than 360 exclusives, but i highly doubt the PS3 version of GTA V will be much better if at all than the 360 version. Not sure where you get this more realistic colors on PS3 thing from either. If colors are your thing..just change that on your tv set or change the reference level.

GTA V will definitely push all 7th-generation consoles to it's very limits to what it has gained. GTA V would finally bring all those mechanical improvements from where it picked in it's previous installment forthe 7th-generation consoles as we finally reach the 8th-generation consoles..

What does space have to do with frames per second?

Don't be naive, R* would not release a sub 20fps game.
