Racecarlock
I think schools should be strictly a side activity. No bullsh*t like "You must have this license to buy this vehicle" or "You must first complete flight school to be able to even start this aircraft". That would suck in a way GTA has never sucked before. of course not, but you won't be able to do a barrel roll in a jet as an example. you still would be allowed to fly a plane and if you get a bronze medal you get a Sparrow, silver - Maverick, gold - Buzzard etc on roof of the house or whatever NO! You don't get it. No moves should be completely unusable just because you didn't go to the school. Screw that. That is horse sh*t. Earning vehicles for medals is fine. Guest
I wish GTA V has a driving mission that is mandatory to complete, and it shouldn't be piss easy like in IV. You should get three tries at driving from point A to B. If you can't beat the time in 3 goes you're chucked into the "noob pool" in V multiplayer. IV multi races are boring because nobody can drive, hope V eliminates this problem by not putting them in the same game as me.

Are you serious? What if you fail the mission 3 times? You'd be stuck with people you hate. Remember, they are tuning the driving physics.

Yeah hang on let me pull 15 people who know how to race out of my rectum and have them all in the same game. But seriously, the only time I get good racers are with people on the forum, and even then only 2-3 people can actually drive. The "noob pool" system simply makes it easier for those who CAN drive to get proper races.

BlackNoise
I'm not a fan of them. I hated how the flying school was incorporated into SA's story and although the driving, bike and boating schools were largely optional I found them to be a waste of time. Did anyone actually use what you learnt in them? I understand how licenses fit into a game like Gran Turismo, but these "schools" feel completely unnecessary in a game like GTA. I'd rather learn naturally than to sit through a bunch of tests "learning" things I'm never going to use. I agree about SA, but imagine how many people could've been helped if GTA IV had a quality driving school. It should be completely optional, but the more realistic the handling, the more beneficial driving school will be. Just like in real life. If you take some driving courses, especially if they're more specific like rally/ drifting/stunt etc. You WILL learn something. So I would have to completely disagree about how necessary they are GTA. Just think about how many people hated GTA IV's driving. It's simply because they didn't know how to drive properly. R* can fix this with a driving school.

If you meant join one, I'm already in a gang, my signature as evidence. If you meant recruit people, then that's no better than going into a random match. People who post there are either inactive or bad at racing in the first place. Also, your Hiboost racing club suggestion is flawed as a. I'm already in a gang b. That's occassional events, which I can already do on the forum. The noob pool is so that good racers are sorted from bad and I only get to race people who can actually, you know, race. This is getting off-topic now. Back on topic: If R* are going to have schools, they shouldn't just be some one-off thing you'll never use, they should actually be used in proper gameplay situation. Burnout Paradise has lots of jumps in the game world, you can keep a clean stream of stunts which all vary, and that made gameplay fun. In SA there were hardly any places you could barrel roll off, and even then you couldn't use them in a proper situation on the go, you had to plan it and land in an inconvenient place. IV made a start, there were a couple of useful jumps, and it was fun to use them while being chased in MP, because the chaser rarely expects it. Fail_At_GTA
Im surprised that most people dont know how to drive in GTA 4. Its not hard at all. When Im playing GTA 4, I purposely get people to chase me around and I watch them crash into everything in sight, even when traffic is on parked. Maybe a driving school could have helped them but then again, they are probably too nooby and wouldnt know about that feature.

R* can fix this with a driving school. I'm not sure you can compare a real life driving school to an in game one. For one thing in real life you tend to take things on board mentally as it's a direct impulse to our "learning" part of our brains (There's probably a more scientific word for it, but I'll just describe it as that). In a game however I find it different. For example after you learnt the barrerl roll in SA's driving school was it something that stuck in your mind? For me it didn't because other than that instance it was pretty useless in regular gameplay. Anyway I wouldn't oppose to a stunt driving school if there's say a Vinewood stunt driver side mission where learning specialty stunts is required to peform certain scenes for movies and such. Also I don't know why people found GTA IV's so hard. All it required was a bit more technique than the previous games. It's without a doubt the best driving experience I've ever had in an open world game. Only dedicated racing simulators better it IMO and even in that case GTA IV's physics hold up very well. What is the benefit of locking off moves until the player completes an arbitrary school? Why should I have to complete some boring task just to be able to barrel roll? Realism? So people lack the ability to turn a stick sideways and barrel roll because they didn't get the training? If the player knows how to do it already, why force them to complete a boring school? What is in it for me? Should there also be a thing where you have to ask someone how to drive a car before you're able to drive cars and until then you can't even enter them? Finn 7 five 11
I want to see the schools again, They were a lot of fun, I think the only reward for it should be money and/or maybe a vehicle spawns in your garage after doing it, so after finishing bike school you get an NRG 500 or whatever the fastest bike is spawn in your garage, or around the corner in an alleyway or something like that, that would be a really nice reward. The Driving, Bike, Boat and flying schools really added a lot to the game, those side-missions took up a fair bit of time, which is exactly what IV was lacking and V needs. It was more like mini games to unlock cars, planes etc. Only reason I endured through them was to get the Bullet GT. Plus it was cool seeing all the unlocked cars parked outside the school - Once you had unlocked them. I'm pretty sure the flying school unlocked planes at the airbase aswell? Memory is fading on that one.. ah.. the old age.. the memory leaves me for something bigger and greater...
CalgaryJay
Fact: Most people can't drive for sh*t it IV. They'll need a driving school in V. Actually on a side note, if you want to get better at driving in HD GTA games, might I recommend playing Vice City on your smartphone. Holy crap is it difficult with the touch screen, its like driving on a sheet of ice everywhere! Been playing for over a month and I'm only now finally starting to really get it down, but its still definitely a challenge. The reason I bring that up is, I finally popped in TBOGT again over the weekend, and after VC on my Galaxy, driving on the XBox was an absolute breeze, I'm so much better than I ever was. /pointless story Just to add to this, I've got III and VC on my galaxy. I haven't started VC yet, but the driving in III is a piece of piss on the Samsung S2. I got used to it much quicker than I did with IV's driving. It's like having a permanent car handling cheat or something. I haven't played III on my phone (Samsung S3), but I've heard VC's a step up from it controls-wise, and its still pretty brutal. Can't imagine how difficult III must be then. Just got to the Dildo Dodo mission, where you fly through rings in your seaplane dropping porno fliers over the city. This could be the mission that finally results in me smashing my phone.
TheShogunOfHarlem
HELL NO!! I quit playing SA for 2 years because of the schools. The physics were bad enough in the last gen to start. It's really superfluous. It was a novel concept that was poorly executed.
JB94
Schools should be in, but not mandatory. They should give skill bonuses, perks or vehicular rewards for their completion/ participation. This time they should add an off-road school as well, that would be fun do using the new SUVs or that Baja Bug...

Still a fun game. Anyways, the driving school, I tried it and dang, the last challenge.. lol the way that car handled, took me about 15 mins to get 100% Within time limit and zero damage.. Pretty annoying, amazed that I endured through it all in GTA SA back when it came out.. However, the same school with GTA IV's handling.. Hot Damn! Now that would be artful and awesome. I'd love to see schools in GTA V. Just as an added activity... unlocked special cars etc. Nothing mandatory. However, I have a feeling that it wont be. Trevor is already a Pilot.. He's been to school and then some!
