Lucid Dreams

What is Lucid dreaming??

Its basically when you become aware that you are dreaming while in a dream and can lead to your manipulation of that dream.

Here are some videos

Have They Been Proven As Possible??

It has been proven that while dreaming, our eye movement within our dreams will be apparent in our actual eyes as long as the movement is significant enough. So if someone is dreaming of watching a metronome, there eyes will move left and right, right and left, under their eye lids. With this being the case, experiments have been conducted with people claiming to have the ability to partake in lucid dreams. The dreamers are told to move their eyes in a particular pattern once there are aware within their dream. As the subjects fell asleep they entered REM sleep, or rapid eye movement. Their eyes moved very quickly signifying that they were indeed in a deep state of sleep. Suddenly, their eyes stopped moving, and then slowly began to move in the predetermined pattern, proving that they were aware while dreaming.

How To Have Lucid Dreams?

There are cults of people who have been training themselves to have lucid dreams. There are certain things to can teach yourself to be aware of that will help you have a lucid dream. The first step is to know that you are indeed dreaming, which is the hardest part. There are some simple things that can help you realize you are within a dream. The easiest tell is that any kind of readable text will change. So if you are looking at a street sign, and you look away and then back, the street name will change. Once you realize you are dreaming it essentially becomes a fight between your conscious and subconscious. Your subconscious will want to let the dream take over again, and it can be hard to maintain awareness.

My First Lucid Dream

I finally had a lucid dream after trying for a month or so. I dreamt that I was driving around doing home inspections, which is my job irl. I was lost and I was trying to find my next home. I looked down at my file to see the address of the home and I drove to where I thought it would be. When I got there I looked down and realized I was way off. I drove closer to where the home should have been and when I looked down again I realized I was way off again. After doing this about 5 times I realized that the address kept changing every time I looked at it. And in that moment I realized I was dreaming.

I was stunned. It felt weird to be within the dream knowing that I was dreaming completely. I got out of my car and slowly walked to the center of the street. I looked at everything around me as I stood in the middle of some un-named suburb. Everything was so real, especially the trees. I thought "What should I do???" and then I looked to the sky and figured I would try to fly. I though"fly" but nothing. The dream started trying to take over again and things started becoming abstract. The homes and roads began to melt and I thought "No! I am in control. Im standing in the road where I was just a minute ago" Then everything became rigid again. I looked up again and I just figured I would jump and push with all my might.

When I did I began to rocket through the sky, to my surprise. I was flying over trees, buildings, and neighborhoods that seemed recognizable. It was amazing. I could feel the wind hitting my face and smell the fresh air. I woke up really excited and I immediately wanted to go back.

So what do you guys think about this "phenomenon"? Have any of you ever had a lucid dream????

I can lucid dream at will, though often I choose not to take the steps to do so as I find having my dreams be out of my control more exciting and wild then actually controlling them, I only really choose to lucid dream if I've had a bad day, then controlling my own little universe is quite fun and leaves me happy the following morning.

I've always wanted to do it but I have only had a few fleeting moments with not much control. Might start training myself soon, I think they could be great for exploring ones imagination.

sh*t im sorry, I searched for it but in the wrong subforum.

If the mods see fit they can lock this, but maybe this thread will generate more traffic??

@lightning: can you elaborate as to what you mean by at will. If you can have the ability to be aware of your dreams at any moment doesnt that make you already aware??

DR: Dude, it was a really cool experience, especially because I have been training myself for a bit to have them

I already had a few lucid dreams in my life, but it's a very rare occurrence. One of them was really nasty. sigh.gif

Well, that thread is dead so...

I only had a lucid dream once. I was flying around in a mall. If I knew its so hard to get one, I would have done something else.

I must be under the false impression that lucid dreams were for threesomes and killing schoolchildren with a sledgehammer, not flying which you can do in real life anyways.

But that's probably because I'm a lonely person who doesn't go outside much, lol.

The first lucid dream I had was me waking up, once I realised it was a dream everything felt slightly crooked and wavy, things weren't alligned.

I went outside and picked up a kid and threw him across the road, and then felt some random girl's tits before getting excited and waking up.

By the way. did you know?

1. If you have a lucid dream you can't see yourself in a mirror. It happend to me. I couldn't see myself and woke up shortly after. You also can't read in a lucid dream.

2. Some sportsmen use lucid dreams to train techniques of their sport. I read about a skateboarder who learned complete tricks while dreaming.

Isn't life full of wonders?

I had one a few weeks after I watched Inception (my only ever Lucid dream).

I was in a shopping mall. I ran around bitch slapping security and driving around in their golf cart things. I went outside and jacked a car and played GTA in my mind lol.gif Then I told the police that they were created by my brain and that I would smite them if they don't chill and so we went to go play mini golf, I made them pay. (I kid you all not, 100% what happened).

My subconscious never tried to take over. Bitch knows its place wink.gif

Edit: and yes, dream titties were involved icon14.gif

Dude, don't f*cking remind me. When I was dreaming I looked in a mirror and it was some distorted brown wrinkly creature and I shat myself and wanted to get out of the dream so quickly...

How do you know THIS isn't a lucid dream? Time is always stretched in dreams. You could wake up any second.

That's what 'reality checks' are for.

I've always wanted to experience a lucid dream. I tried for a while but eventually gave up since I would always fall into a regular dream. I think the idea is just fascinating, being able to control everything and have awesome power to do whatever you want, all feeling as real as humanely possible. I think I may have had a few which were randomly induced, but they're so vague I'd never even be aware of it.

I'd like to start trying again, but I'm too lazy to have 'dream journals' and remember to look for odd occurances and signs within the dream.

never had a lucid dream.

but I've also never tried. got other priorities.

I know people who do it as a hobby though.

they try to sleep like you or I might go to the movies. and then they write down their experiences and share them in groups. like a book club lol.gif

Im not going that far.

But I have been trying to train my mind through day to day in order to help start a lucid dream. The only training I have done is reading things twice to make sure they arent changing.

I know it sounds dumb but if you kind of make it a mental habit it will follow your dreams, and when you see text change you will know your dreaming

Is this really the first time this has happened to you?

I've been having them for as long as I can remember. Not on purpose, but by chance. I sometimes find that as soon as you become aware you are dreaming, it soon ends thereafter.

Other times, though, it can go on for some time... which can get pretty interesting. The other night I designed a car in my dream. Not long before that I designed a city.

Crazy, I know... but kind of mind boggling how the brain can do these AMAZING creative things while dreaming (compared to in real life where it would take forever).

someday I'd like to devote some time to trying it.

especially since I know people who have achieved it successfully. to the point that they can virtually lucid dream at will.

Well its proven that some people just have them naturally.

I have had a handful of accidental lucid dreams, but the amount of control is very limited. I can kind of push my dream into a direction but not control it. And it only lasts for a short moment in the dream and then I forget Im dreaming.

Next lucid dream you have you should email me the beta to GTA V

tbh people go "oh i love to lucid dream i can fly around and pick flowers in the meadows with my significant other, oh lovely, yes, lovely"

it's nothing like that. you can't make things. the only things on your mind in a lucid dream are "kill and f*ck".

What usually happens with me is that I would try and fly... if I can achieve that.... I know I'm dreaming (and then go bugger off and do what the hell I want). This is something I've been doing since a really young age. So I guess I have been lucid dreaming at will then? wow.gif

Only just realized. But I'm also shocked deffpony only had his first lucid dream EVER if I'm reading it correctly. I thought lucid dreaming was a pretty normal thing...

I genuinely don't like what my dreams reveal about myself.

The idea of a lucid dream, where I was completely aware of everything going on, would be pretty traumatic. Especially as the dream world would simply be a reflection of my own mind, not necessarily a nice place to be.

There was a period when I tried to have a lucid dream. Never worked. However I've had moments in a dream where I realize I'm dreaming, I just wake up shortly afterward and regret it.

This holds true for most of my lucid dream experiences. One of my most recent dreams involved me hovering to a populated area and using "force lightning" to destroy anyone driving by. I felt like Emperor Palpatine.

The only problem with my lucid dreams is that I usually can't form rational or coherent thoughts, so I just start destroying everything around me. This ultimately causes me to wake up abruptly and results in a headache.
