na89340qv0n34b09q340
Here's a blog post by a photographer who sneaked into one of Disney's abandoned attractions. It doesn't have very many cool pictures, but it's a pretty interesting read. And if you haven't seen him yet (and don't mind his aesthetics), adamthewoo posts his explorations on youtube, most of them are in Florida though. Here's a few of my favorite videos of his: Phosphate Factory Power/Water Plant The set of The Truman Show (Not abandoned, but still cool!) Hmmm nice bike
I've never done any exploring like that before, but it seems interesting! I think my main worry would be either the place collapsing on me or running into some crazy homeless people or thugs hiding out. Fulton Market Cold Storage in Chicago. Formerly abandoned cold storage facility, now being converted into offices and lofts. But when it was still abandoned, it was like an ice fortress. Before... And what will be after by next year. Here's all the ice on the 8th floor being melted. And here's an abandoned missile launch site and fallout shelter in Wheeler, Indiana. Leftover from the 1950s. corvettelover
Actually, abandoned stuff like this is actually kinda cool. I like to look at abandoned junkyards and cars and such as well, kinda neat to see. As are Barn Find cars.
Triple Vacuum Seal
Actually, abandoned stuff like this is actually kinda cool. I like to look at abandoned junkyards and cars and such as well, kinda neat to see. As are Barn Find cars. I see you on that. One one hand I think seeing abandoned structures is heart-breaking (especially educational institutions) On the other hand, I find it beautiful how the vegetation of this earth can reclaim the land we once used. It kinda merges the "concrete jungle" with the actual jungle in a sense. "shut up, sit down, relax"
The-King
Anyways can't you guys get like, injured or something from this? What about asbestos? Of course, you can get injured doing just about anything, being careful and respectful is paramount. Simply wearing a mask usually keeps you safe from most of the dangerous airborne things. I've only found myself in one abandoned place, a local amusement park that's been closed down for a good ten years. I don't have any of the pictures we took, but there was a Reddit post awhile back that inspired me to go there. The place is called Joyland, pretty eerie, especially after having been there a fair few times in my youth. Kifflom112
@Claude94, god why do people always try to ruin good architecture with that modern crap? It would look fine if they just left that building in Chicago alone. Anyways, very interesting thread. Deteriorated buildings are pretty interesting to me. Trinette
I found an old abandoned garage in the middle of the woods last summer in southeast Michigan when a friend and I were exploring. We do this quite a lot as a hobby. We plan to look for more soon, especially when it gets warmer. sometimes. you look very strange. somewhat smiling. a little vain. saying not today. Loch Dawg
We used to skate at this abandoned primary school. It was pretty sick because we would just punch holes through walls and smash glass windows with our skateboards. We stopped going when my friend punched a window and cut open his hand, now he has a huge scar on it.

I agree, I live in Chicago and they've done the warehouse-to-office conversions to quite a few structures (my father even works in one), and they turned out just fine without messing up the outside. Here's another in this city left abandoned. This is a furniture factory that actually burned down last month This place got completely iced over when they tried putting the fire out Then a fire broke out again, and now the structure no longer exists anymore. Mr. Scratch
Well this isn't exactly boring,if you really want to see a place then you can expect junkies, security guards, rabid dogs, chemicals, unsound structures and being charged with trespassing if the cops get you, nothing like running from a bunch of pissed of guards to let you know you're alive. El Dildo
fascinating pictures. urban photography. personally I'm more into landscapes and macro, but it definitely has its own kind of beauty. I just hope you guys don't get caught in one of these buildings when they collapse you know, since they're so old and already half ruined. they look so unstable. Mr. Scratch
Well if there is one thing commies did right then that is making durable buildings, the factories at least could be nuked and they would probably still stand.
Killerdude
In my hometown the oldest most abandoned, buildings were the old grain silos, and since they were basically an 30 story tube of rust, you couldn't really explore them..
