Sgt. Foley
Storyline / lore / character classes The story arc of Bungie’s new online persistent world game, Destiny engulfs the our human experience, casting us 299,792,458 meters per second — 700 years into the future: The arrival of the Traveler, a massive Moon sized globe, hangs over the Earth, emanating a mysterious source of power and strength. The Traveler ushers in a Golden Age, where humankind finally masters technology. Human culture of the Golden Age had embraced technology into it’s very culture, as it had adapted human environments far beyond the confines of Earth, and had expanded human colonies throughout the Milky Way to Mars, Venus and the Moon. The heroes of the Golden Ages had formed masterful buildings that melded their mechanistic forms into the landscape, forming advanced citadels with domes, spires, towers and plazas, synthesizing the powerful implements of technology into potent, mechanistic bodysuits, powerful, destructive weapons and lightning-fast space vessels with highly developed weapons systems. But it wasn’t to last. Powerful aliens, among them the fearsome Cabal, (massively-sized armored rhinoceros aliens), carrying slug throwers and driving big tanks, stealthily crept into the human galaxy and hit humanity hard with their brute force and thundering strength. The brave survivors of this hellishly fierce onslaught picked up the remains of Earth’s civilization and began anew. They built the Last City, under the shade of the Traveler’s protective umbra. They formed a hierarchy of classes, the fighting vanguard of Humanity. They would fight this new threat to human existence, and would call themselves the Guardians. The Titans. The Warlocks. The Hunters. They harness the power of the Traveler to power up and fight those who would destroy the Earth. more here > http://www.forbes.com/sites/michaelvenable...stiny-unveiled/ Edited February 18, 2013 by Sgt. Remix
Here's the reveal trailer: The persistant world thing seems really interesting. I wasn't a big fan of Halo but I'll definitely keep tabs on this game before release!
Secura
This sounds amazing, if they can pull if off that is. Also, Bungie stop with this stupid "it's not an MMO" bullsh*t, whatever they're calling it now (I think it's the "persistant online shooter" or something like that) it's stupid. Bungie it's an MMO, stop trying to call it something different for the sake of marketing.
Remix
Also, Bungie stop with this stupid "it's not an MMO" bullsh*t, whatever they're calling it now (I think it's the "persistant online shooter" or something like that) it's stupid. Bungie it's an MMO, stop trying to call it something different for the sake of marketing. Apparently it's a Shared World Shooter. Oh man, that looks even worse when I type it out. I actually read this article detailing the game, it's much more informative than the video itself. People are predicting a trailer at Sony's event on the 20th, because a lot of Bungie developers were shocked that they didn't really show the game off in the trailer. It's set for a Q2 2014 release, so it'll definitely be released on the new consoles as well as the 360 and PS3! Woo! Again, WiiU gets screwed. This is a completely different topic, but honestly, Nintendo have gotta throw some money at these big games to ensure they're released on the WiiU. They're quickly getting left behind. Edit: Also, if you like Jeff Gerstmann he does a video on Destiny here.
HaythamKenway
I'm kinda disappointed. I'm a fan of a concept of MMOFPS, but I hoped they would have kept singleplayer portion of the game out of it. Sure, there will be singleplayer, but the game in general seems to be very co-op and socially driven. I'm afraid the game might end up boring and unplayable unless you have a buddy to have fun with while doing repetitive quests. Okay, Bungie might do this thing right, but co-op driven games often turn out like this. I don't like being forced to stay online to play singleplayer too. And from what I've read Destiny might not even be a true MMOFPS, something like Planetside. Competitive multiplayer might be standalone game, just like in every other FPS nowadays. If Planetside-like massive multiplayer battles that take place on and influence an entire game world couldn't be done on current consoles, then they should have released it on next-gen consoles only. I like art direction though and music is definitely going to be amazing.

kudoboi
“We did a bunch of ambitious things on Halo deliberately to reach out to people. We limited players to two weapons, we gave them recharging health, we automatically saved and restored the game – almost heretical things to first-person shooters at the time. We made the game run without a mouse and keyboard. And now nobody plays shooters the way they used to play them before Halo ’cause nobody wants to.” http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/02/17...e-deny-reality/ well no pc port anytime soon
