copperrobber Posted February 17, 2013 Share Posted February 17, 2013 2008 when GTAIV came, if i remember right there wasnt many other similar open world games realesing, well now Watch Dogs,GtaV,Just Cause 3(probably) & Saints Row 4(probably), all are hugely anticipated by so many people. Will this lower GTAV sales, i mean it has never happened before in Rockstars History that this many anticipated open world games realesing the same year ? Yes i know many people have brought this up before, but only with Watch Dogs i think(?), and obviously GTA has the biggest fanbase, and will 100% sell more than any other series, but i think it will be much tougher and slow sale for GTA, or will it be just bad for the other franschises and not affect GTA at all ? what do you guys think ? GTAV IS GOING TO BE THE BIGGEST SELLER probably even more so than all the titles put together. remember IV sold 125million copies and the owner base of consoles has nearly doubled since then. SR4 will just be laughed at by me, i might play it.... for like 10 hours max and sell it as that is what it is worth. It focuses soo much on stupid crap that makes 10 year olds laugh that it forgets to be an actual game... GTA SA did it right, it mixed the sillyness and the serious part of a game very well and was very enjoyable because of that. JC is a prime example of quantity over quality, which can be bad and something GTA SA balanced out well... in 2004. JC has a lot of stuff, many what we gamers want but the lack of quality, from the driving physics, flying physics, graphic detail, animations, STORY and game-play it just leads to a forgettable game. GTA SA has better driving, flying and every other physics IMO.. and that is from 2004 ><, so horrible to see. I love gta, but i am not a fanboy in that sense. I WANT THOSE games to succeed and be made very well with quality. Not only is competition very good for us, but more good open world games are better than 1 or 2. Anyway, not many people will buy Saints Row or Just Cause and not buy V. Whenever a new GTA comes out, it's the game that's not left out by any open-world fans. I think that it's a lack of appreciation and knowledge of how Rockstar has gotten to where it is now that would have someone comparing it to a game like Watch Dogs that has not been released as yet. First of all, the game has to be released and it has to be amazing and it has to do something that hasn't been done before. Secondly, it would help if the follow-up game surpassed the first game and a great franchise was born. But most importantly and this would fast-track the process and catapult Watch Dogs somewhere near the GTA series' orbit would be a scandal. This scandal has got to be big (nat'l/internat'l levels) and the people at Watch Dogs have to be strong enough to come out on the other side on their feet - bloodied and battered perhaps but still standing. Perhaps some Hot Coffee, crazy attention seeking lawyer or Government agency blaming them for real world acts of violence should help. Don't know how you guys compare SR with GTA. I bought SR 1 & 2 three years ago thinking that they would tide me over for the release of GTAV. But playing it felt wrong like something was missing.
