That is ok then. But i am pretty sure that Zelnick said they don't have plans for a PS4 version, so even if they just found out about the next gen console, what the hell are they going to do with agent then?

Well, less than two days to go until Sony's big event so we will figure it out soon enough whether GTA V will release for next-generations consoles or not, even though I doubt it that this is going to happen but let's see.

I was thinking that they could use Agent as a launch title which would be one of the best and then later port it? That would work but if they delayed Agent, people will forget about it forever after that, even me.

Well they didn't just find out about it. Rockstar will have had the next gen dev kits for a good 18 months now like most developers. Zelnick said very little if you break down what he said. Anyway these people will deny it until the last moment.

 

Agent is very probably alive and well but on the back burner until GTAV is well and truly done and dusted on all platforms

Zelnick is an expert on saying nothing - even when he speaks. He didn't confirm nor deny a next-gen version.

 

All he basically said was that they have to wait for the platforms to be announced before they can actually talk about them. He said they'll have next-gen games. That's all he said - not specific platforms or specific games. First have to wait for the platforms to be announced first.

Even if Zelnick says nothing, because of wishful thinking and the fact that I have invested so much emotion in waiting for GTAV since 25 October 2011, I am willing to believe him that GTAV will blow me away in ways I have not yet even anticipated.

The only thing that gives this a minute chance of being real for me is the fact that Rockstar hasn't said anything about GTA V in ages. But like I just said, a VERY minute chance! I think somebody mentioned Agent - now that seems much more realistic. Perhaps they don't have the time for V right now because they need to prepare for Sony's Playstation event.

 

I think I'm getting a little bit carried away with myself now.

We all know it's coming out for current-gen. It's been announced for current-gen. I don't think anyone's saying it's ONLY coming out for next-gen, which is what you are under the impression based on your post.

 

Perhaps you should read a little versus making a mistake on your part and calling people idiots. If you are so sure about what you say, and calling people idiots, do you want to put your money where your mouth is? Let's say... if it comes out for next-gen consoles, I can ban you? orly.gif

Nothing GTA V related is going to be shown on wednesday, i'm willing to bet money on that actually. Rockstar has never shown a big game like GTA at events and especially not gameplay footage to the public. Sure it would shock and surprise the whole game industry and everybody else if they do show it...but i don't believe that for a second. I'm expecting to see the new console being revealed and perhaps a video of something like Killzone 4.

Hhmmm.... they showed Red Dead Redemption at Sony's event when they unveiled the PS3.

 

And GTA itself has had quite a history with being at the events of these console guys (GTAIV announced at Microsoft Xbox 360 keynote; Chinatown Wars announced at Nintendo's E3 keynote; Agent announced at Sony's keynote). The only ever public video interview with Sam Houser was also showed at one of Sony's events.

 

That said, I'm not saying they'll have to say anything about GTAV at Wednesday's event, just wanted to provide a little clarity on the history wink.gif.

Judging by this post and your "detonator" profile picture, I guess something is "gettin ready to blow" at this Sony event.

 

f*ck. If V comes out on next gen, it would be stupid to buy old gen version... I'll have to get a ps4 just to play the f*cking game. Not that it is a problem financially, but far out... What more could go wrong here? Years long of silence, lies, delays, and now console shifts.... I think I'm just about done with it. I feel like Rockstar think we have to please them and pet them on the back just so they give us V, when it should be the other way round. They should be begging us to buy a copy and wondering why their deteriorating fanbase haven't just given up on the whole GTA fad.

Really? Ok i wasn't aware of that. Still i don't think this is going to happen. I mean..they have been working more than 4 or 5 years on this game for the current hardware, and then showing it on next-gen hardware at an event, that would be weird. And then releasing the game for 360 and PS3 in September with much downgraded graphics, compared to a next-gen version....that's not really wise. Nah i don't think anything will happen.

 

Was RDR shown to the public too during that event? I mean a livestream or something? Oh wait...RDR was way after the PS3's release. So this was a very very early version then?

Too many gamers forget or just don't understand how this sh*t works. It's very simple...

 

Developers develop games and we buy them. That's the extent of our relationship. If you don't want to buy their game...don't. They simply don't care and they shouldn't. If they do their job correctly it will all work out in the end for them and it usually does. If we do our job correctly(stop whining and buy the game if it appeals to us) it will work out in the end for us as well.
